William R. Irey Jr.
The memorial service for William Raymond Irey Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Jerry Gilmer will officiate.
Mr. Irey, 53, of Gold Hill, died Wednesday (June 9, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born June 10, 1945, in Marion, Ind.
On Dec. 30, 1997, in Yuma, Ariz., he married LaRae Garrett, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley 20 years ago from Idaho.
Mr. Irey was an operating engineer in the construction industry.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was stationed near Phu Bai in Vietnam from 1964 to 1965.
Mr. Irey enjoyed hunting and fly fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters. Jessica Rene Irey, White City, and Julie Ann Lewis, Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sons, James William, Los Angeles, and William Robert, Phoenix, Ariz.; his parents, William R. and Mary K. Irey, Niland, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Katherine Cooper
The funeral for Katherine Josephine Cooper will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday (June 15, 1999) at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. The Rev. Anthony Schultz of Grace Lutheran Church, Ashland, will officiate.
Mrs. Cooper, 84, of Ashland, died Thursday (June 10, 1999) at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland.

She was born June 6, 1915, in Los Angeles, Calif.
On June 15, 1935, in Los Angeles, she married Walter D. Cooper, who died in 1989. They moved from the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles to Talent in 1973.
Mrs. Cooper moved to Ashland in 1997. She had worked with her husband in the plastering business.
She was a member of the North Hollywood Young Women's Club and later the Talent Garden Club.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Cooper, of Ashland; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Gary, and two sisters.

Bessie O. Kerlinger
Bessie Ophelia Kerlinger, 88, of Central Point, died Thursday (June 10, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. A private family service will be held at a later date.
She was born Bessie Ophelia Riddle on Jan. 19, 1911, in Riddle, N.M.
On June 7, 1937, in Milwaukie, she married Edward Kerlinger, who died in 1963.
Mrs. Kerlinger moved to the Rogue Valley from Sumner, N.M., and lived in the Grants Pass area for a number of years.
She taught at several elementary schools in the Grants Pass area, including Hugo Elementary School.
Survivors include two sons, Tom and Bob, both of Medford; two brothers, J.O. Riddle, of Kissimmee, Fla., and Elden Riddle, Portland; and five grandchildren.

Willis Perl McCoy
Willis Perl "Dutch" McCoy, 90, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday (June 9, 1999) at his home.
A graveside service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jacksonville Cemetery. Mr. McCoy's son, Gary, will officiate.
He was born May 30, 1909, in Lyle, Wash.
On Sept. 29, 1934, he married Alice Johnson, who preceded him in death. He moved to the Rogue Valley 13 years ago from Yakima, Wash.
Mr. McCoy was a school principal in Moxee, Wash. for 25 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Gary, Jacksonville; and three great-grandchildren.

Nettie E. Matthews
Nettie E. Matthews, 92, of Medford, died Tuesday (June 8, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.
She was born Nettie McCulloh on June 21, 1906, in Rowan County, N.C.
Mrs. Matthews was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Matthews, Jacksonville, and Harold McCulloh, Medford; a daughter, Genevie Berwald, San Francisco; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Matthews; two brothers; and two sisters.

Rose M. Bonesteel
The funeral for Rose May Bonesteel will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Apostolic Faith Church in Medford. The Rev. Earl Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow in Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford.
Miss Bonesteel, 67, of Medford, died Thursday (June 10, 1999) in Medford.
She was born Rose May Bonesteel on March 13, 1931, in Neahow, Mo. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1947 from Missouri.
Miss Bonesteel was a self-employed seamstress and music teacher and an avid violin player.
She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church in Medford.
Survivors include two brothers, Albert Dennis Bonesteel, Medford, and Jack Delouse Bonesteel, in Montana; and a sister, Wanda Lee Crippen, Yreka, Calif.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
Catherine Coleman
Catherine Elizabeth Stark Coleman, 46, of Cove, formerly of Butte Falls, died Wednesday (June 9, 1999) at her home in Cove, following an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 14, 1952, in Redlands, Calif. She lived in Southern California until 1968, when the family moved to Southern Oregon.
In 1970, she graduated from Eagle Point High School. She attended Southern Oregon College for two years before transferring to Oregon State University, where she received a degree in agriculture in 1975.
On Sept. 21, 1974, in Medford, she married David Wayne Coleman, who survives. They moved to Cove from Butte Falls in 1995.
Mrs. Coleman was an active 4-H horse leader in Jackson County for eight years, and worked in her home sewing kites for White Bird Kites of Ashland. In Cove, she was active with the Home Extension.
She enjoyed needlework, crafts, animals and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Beth Coleman, Cove; a son, Robert Coleman, Cove; and her parents, Bruce and Nancy Stark, Cove.

Earl L. Pennington
The graveside service for Earl L. Pennington will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Pennington, 60, of White City, died Tuesday (June 8, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born April 27, 1939, in Kelso, Wash.
Mr. Pennington was an antique restorer for Hippo Hardware in Portland. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997.
He served in the Army from 1956 to 1959, and in the Air Force from 1960 to 1961.
Mr. Pennington enjoyed arts, crafts and coin collecting.
Survivors include a daughter, Heidi Aurand, Woodbine, Ga.; a brother, Carl, Seattle; a sister, Barbara Nelson, Phoenix, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
