Frank Albert Shipley
The memorial service for Frank Albert Shipley will be at 2 p.m. today in Living Praise Tabernacle, 115 Gibbon Road, Central Point. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Shipley, 88, of White City died Thursday (June 24, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born Nov.26, 1910, in Faulkton, S.D.
On June 29, 1993, in Medford, he married Dorothy Speck Newton, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946.
Mr. Shipley was a machinist for Mare Island Naval Shipyards in Vallejo, Calif.
In Oregon, he was a truck driver for the Jackson County Road Department, retiring after 20 years.
He was a deacon in Trinity Pentecostal Church of God in White City, and had been a member of Calvary Temple Church in Central Point for more than 20 years.
He enjoyed singing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Raymond, in Virginia; a stepdaughter, Betty Summers, Medford; five stepsons, George Groom, Shady Cove, Bill Groom, in Utah, Harold Groom, Healdsburg, Calif., Louis Groom, Wildomar, Calif., and Jack Groom, in California; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, June Lockhart Shipley in 1992; a son, Larry Shipley; a stepson, Leonard Groom, and a stepdaughter, Violet Miller.

Anna Maria Heckers
Anna Maria Heckers, 82, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (June 23, 1999) at her home. A service has been held. he Rev. Todd Molinari of St. Anne Catholic Church officiated.
Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Grants Pass.

She was born Anna Maria Knorr on Jan. 12, 1917, in Germany.
On April 1, 1939, in Germany, she married Emil Lorenz Heckers, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in 1979 from North Hollywood, Calif.
Mrs. Heckers was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass.
She enjoyed camping and family activities.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Jerry, Grants Pass, and Kurt, Roseburg; a sister, Johanna Fischerman, in Germany; and three grandchildren.

Mary Louise Hatch
Mary Louise Hatch, 68, of Medford, died Tuesday (June 22, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.
She was born Mary Louise Melton June 27, 1930, in Duncan, Okla.
Mrs. Hatch was a bookkeeper for the U.S. Forest Service in Klamath Falls and in Ketchikan, Alaska. Following her retirement 10 years ago, she moved to the Rogue Valley from Ketchikan.
She was a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Klamath Falls.
Survivors include a brother, B.J. Melton, Central Point. She was preceded in death by a son, Albert Louis Algaier.

Virginia M. Russell
Virginia Maxine Russell, 85, of Medford, died Wednesday (June 23, 1999) at her home. A private service will be held later.
She was born Virginia M. Thompson on July 9, 1913, in Coalinga, Calif.
On Aug. 10, 1932, in Hollywood, Calif., she married Robert Ferris Russell, who died in 1997. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1950 from San Carlos, Calif.
Mrs. Russell and her husband owned and operated Russell Tile Co. in Central Point. They later began Russell Construction.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Anne's Altar Society, the Central Point Grange Co-op, the Good Sam Club and the Westside County Home Extension Group.
Survivors include a son, R. Richard, Medford; two daughters, K. Joann Russell, Seattle, and Carol Jean Loree, Richmond, Va; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Gary Franklin Vaughn
Gary Franklin Vaughn, 50, of Orcas Island, Wash., formerly of Medford, died June 17, 1999, on Orcas Island, Wash., of cancer. A memorial service will be held on Orcas Island in July.

He was born Sept. 25, 1948, in San Diego. He moved to the Rogue Valley as a child, and attended Medford schools and Southern Oregon University.
On April 13, 1991, in Orcas Island, Wash., he married Sharon Doyle, who survives.
Mr. Vaughn worked as a hotel manager for several hotels, including the Rosario Resort on Orcas Island. He also was a Realtor.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a radioman on the USS Hector, and was later stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Mr. Vaughn enjoyed travel, and restoring automobiles and houses.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Ryan Christopher, Madison, Wis., and Regan Godfrey, Seattle; his parents, Kay Vaughn, Medford, and John F. Vaughn, Portland; and a brother, John S., Phoenix, Ariz.

Kenneth O. Kellam
The funeral Mass for Kenneth O. Kellam will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. Liam Cary of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate. The graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Kellam, 82, of Shady Cove, died Tuesday (June 22, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 30, 1916, in Bentonville, Ind.
On Nov. 22, 1950, in Glendale, Calif., he married Theresa Boulay, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Downey, Calif.
Mr. Kellam was a design engineer for the State of California Highway Division for 29 years, retiring in 1978.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Kellam was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Jeff, Shady Cove, Mike, Elk Ridge, Utah, and Denis, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Darlene Bayles, Medford; a brother, Lester, Bentonville, Ind.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Harry Wesley Converse
The funeral for Harry Wesley Converse will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Central Valley Chapel. Pastor Dick Boden of Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate. The graveside service will follow at Central Point Masonic Cemetery. A reception will follow at Idle Wheels Mobile Home Estates, 2252 Table Rock Road, Medford.
Mr. Converse, 70, of Medford, died Tuesday (June 22, 1999) at his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Tolstoy, S.D.
On May 22, 1948, in Luverne, Minn., he married Alice Fern Cronin, who survives. He moved to California from South Dakota in 1955, and to Oregon in 1991.
Mr. Converse was a union plumber for several years. In 1975, he and his son opened a plumbing business in Susanville, Calif.
He enjoyed hunting, boating and camping.
Survivors in addition to his wife include seven sons, Ronny, Central Point; Wesley, Medford; Randy and Jerry, both of Vacaville, Calif.; Derry, Susanville; Alan, Boise, Idaho; and Dale, Spokane, Wash.; four daughters, April Converse, Boise, Idaho; Alice Mesloh, Los Gatos, Calif.; Vickie Raybell, Kent, Wash., and Penny Ebright, Seattle; three sisters, Noreen Gibson, Highmore, S.D., Diana Carr, Foresthill, Calif., and Alice Stengle, Darlington, S.C.; two half-brothers, Roy Lee, Mesa, Ariz., and Les Lundren, Sioux Falls, S.D.; 29 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Herschel Cummins Jr.
Herschel Matthew Cummins Jr., 78, of Billings, Mont., formerly of Jacksonville, died May 31, 1999, in Billings of cancer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the H.M. "Hersh" Cummins Jr. Memorial Scholarship, Boise State University Foundation, 1910 University Drive, Boise, ID 83725.
He was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Melba, Idaho. After his graduation from Boise State University, he entered the service in 1942.
Mr. Cummins was a Navy aviator, retiring after 23 years with the rank of commander. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross three times, and the Commendation Combat V medal.
He enjoyed his membership with the retired Navy VPB-13 Squadron and the 3-B group of naval officers from World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Arnold, Gresham, and Jane Catherine Udall, Portland; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in 1994.
