Wilson Lawless, 89, of Medford, died Sunday (June 27, 1999) at his home.
Friends may pay their respects from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Perl Chapel.

Mildred Hoag
The memorial service for Mildred Evelyn Hoag will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harvest Baptist Temple, 2001 Columbus Ave., Medford. Pastor Bob Gass will officiate. Burial will follow at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point.
Mrs. Hoag, 91, of Medford, died Sunday (June 27, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Mildred Okerstrom on May 10, 1908, in Isanti, Minn. In January 1947 in Nevada, she married Otto Hoag, who died in 1989. The pair moved to Eagle Point in 1970 and to Medford in 1998.
Mrs. Hoag was a power machine operator in the garment industry as a young woman; later, she was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of Harvest Baptist Temple. She enjoyed reading the Bible, traveling and Swedish baking. She won a local baking contest and was quite well known for her spelling ability.
Survivors include a son, Bill Hoag of Prospect; a daughter, Jo Ann Cook of Stockton, Calif.; two sisters, Vivian Richard of Cassel, Calif., and Gloria Kohn of Sterling Heights, Mich.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by 10 brothers and sisters.

Eugene Lount
Eugene Lount, 84, of Shady Cove, died Friday (June 25, 1999) at his home. A private service will be held.
He was born June 18, 1915, in Chester, Pa. He moved to the Rogue Valley 12 years ago from California.
On Aug. 1, 1936, in Patchogue, Long Island, N.Y., he married Celia Risley, who survives.
Mr. Lount was a fire control officer with the U.S. Forest Service and retired after 12 years of service.
Mr. Lount was a charter member of the American Motorcycle Association, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Truck Historical Society.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World Ward II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Lount enjoyed restoring vintage trucks and motorcycles.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Jr., Central Point, and Robert, Eagle Point; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A son, John William, died in 1998.

Marjorie Nell Varner
The memorial service for Marjorie Nell Varner will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Newman United Methodist Church, 132 N.E. B St., Grants Pass. The Rev. Brett Strobel will officiate.
Mrs. Varner, 89, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (June 23, 1999) at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass.

She was born Marjorie Jones on April 18, 1910, in Endicott, Wash. She moved to Ashland in 1928 from Vancouver, Wash., and then to Grants Pass two years later.
On July 9, 1932, in Grants Pass, she married Walter Varner, who died in 1988.
Mrs. Varner was a teacher.
She enjoyed photography, horseback riding, travel and gardening.
Survivors include five daughters, Vicki Ruthann Vannice, Ashland, Clara Nell McGifford, Dayton, Nev., Susan Jo Burkley, San Francisco, Judith Lynn Straw, Reno, Nev., and Lolita Evelyn Davis, Exeter, Calif.; a brother, Terrill Andrew Jones, Grants Pass; two sisters, D.J. Klassen, and R. Ina Pinniger, both Grants Pass; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Edna Mae Ragsdale
The graveside service for Edna Mae Ragsdale will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. A memorial gathering at the family home will follow the service.
Mrs. Ragsdale, 86, of Medford, died Wednesday (June 23, 1999) at her home.

She was born Edna Turpen on Jan. 4, 1913, in Oklahoma.
On Dec. 28, 1949, she married Marvin M. Ragsdale, who died in 1992. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946.
Mrs. Ragsdale worked with her husband in the woods in various logging jobs in Oregon for 40 years.
She attended Eagle Point Community Bible Church for 44 years, and taught adult Bible studies and vacation Bible school.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce E. Athanas, Medford, and Sharon Bigham, Sherwood; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Evafaye Cecil Madden
Evafaye Cecil Madden, 74, of White City, died Thursday (June 24, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center in Medford. No service is planned.

She was born Evafaye Cecil Fessler on May 14, 1925, in Roseburg.
On Jan. 7, 1944, in Kirby, she married Charles William Madden, who survives. They moved to White City from Gold Hill in 1968.
Mrs. Madden was a secretary for Willamette Steel Company several years ago.
She enjoyed reading and sewing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, James, Central Point; three daughters, Christine Moore, Central Point, Debra Madden, Tualatin, and Cheyrell Lewis, Prince Rupert, British Columbia; a brother, Gerald Fessler, Klamath Falls; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Joseph M. Rapp
The funeral for Joseph M. Rapp will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. The Rev. Robert Mathers of the Alliance Bible Chapel will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Rapp, 80, of Ashland, died Friday (June 25, 1999) at Ashland Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Talent to Fred and Linnie (French) Rapp. His grandfather was a Talent pioneer for whom Rapp Road was named. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1937.
On June 27, 1946, in Medford, he married Wanda Claire Cox, who survives.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a C-47 crew member.
He was a farmer all of his life. He enjoyed gardening and World War II vintage aircraft.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, William J., Ashland, and Fred M., Roseburg; two brothers, Ray, of Talent, and Chet, of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home.
Lucile M. Beaton
The funeral for Lucile Mildred Beaton will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary. Chaplian Josue Delgado of Providence Medford Medical Center will officiate. Commital will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Beaton, 84, of Medford, died Friday (June 25, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Lucile Elson on Dec. 16, 1914, in Little Rock, Ark. On Dec. 7, 1933, in Medford, she married Alan James Beaton, who died in 1983.
She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1920 from Portland. She and her husband owned Beaton's Music Store until 1979.
She was a member of the Musician's Union and played organ and piano in several places.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Medford.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy L. Wolff, Jacksonville; Patricia R. Miller, Corvallis; and Mary L. Ingram, Monterey, Calif.; a sister, Vera Buhman, Molalla; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Elson.
