Hilda M. Harrison
The funeral for Hilda M. Harrison was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Officiating was Pastor Jim Larson of the Christian Church of Ashland. Interment was at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California.
Mrs. Harrison, 94, of Ashland, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at home. She was born January 12, 1911 in Gloster, Mississippi to Rosalee and Malcolm Forman. She was raised in Mississippi and sang professionally with her sisters, Maxine and Louise forming the musical group "The Forman Sisters." She later worked 20 years for Sears and Roebuck Company.
On September 25, 1932 in New York, New York she married Harry Harrison, a professional jazz trumpet player, who preceded her in death in 1987. She moved to Hollywood, California in 1933 and to Ashland in 1996.
Mrs. Harrison attended the Glassell Park Baptist Church in California and the services conducted at the Mountain View Retirement Center by the Christian Church of Ashland.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Robert T. Harrison of Ashland; and former daughter-in-law Elizabeth Houlihan; one brother Lamar Forman; one sister Margie Hightower; and a nephew Charles Forman.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brother and one sister.

Jesse Taylor Ferguson, Jr.
Our loved and respected Father, Jesse Taylor Ferguson, Jr., passed to the next life on Saturday morning, December 10, 2005. At the time of his passing, our Father was comforted by the presence and love of his wife, Lillian, and three surviving sons, Phil, Richard and Victor. Dad will join our Brother, Jay, in heaven, where we will all be reunited some day.
Our Father was born on a farm in Scotts Hill, Tennessee, educated by the Morgan Park Military Academy, and later, an aeronautical college in Chicago, IL. Dad lived a very productive and interesting life. He enjoyed many significant technical achievements through a long career as an aerospace engineer. He loved his family and we loved him. We will miss him.

Helen Schilling
Helen Schilling, 89, of Eugene, OR, formerly of Ashland, OR, died Thursday, December 15th 2005. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Jack L. Sabin
Jack Louis Sabin, beloved Ashland pharmacist, husband, and father, passed away in his home with his family gathered around him on Tuesday, December 20th at the age of 69. He leaves a rich legacy of caring for the community he loved and which loved him so much in return. His smiling face and personal approach to health care was an Ashland fixture for thousands of Rogue Valley residents for more than 30 years.
Born October 13, 1936 in Rockford, Illinois, he proudly served his country for two years during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and pursued his degree in pharmacy at the University of Illinois in Chicago, graduating in 1960. He was married to Donna Rae Jacobson on June 18, 1960 in Rockford, Illinois, and began his professional career at the Lenz Pharmacy in Rockford that same year.
In 1963, he moved to Sycamore, Illinois, where he purchased one of Lenz's pharmacies, changing the name to Sabin & Son Sycamore Pharmacy. He continued there until 1971 when he sold the business and relocated to Ashland, allowing him to be closer to extended family and adopt a slower pace of life. There, he was employed by Ashland Drug as a pharmacist, later purchasing the business where he would continue as owner/operator until his retirement in 2002.
He served his community in numerous ways, through his church, through Rotary Club, and as a member of the Ashland Hospital Foundation and Ashland Hospital Board. His hobbies included golfing and crafting his own golf clubs, fishing, reading, sightseeing, and listening to jazz.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna Rae; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Becky Sabin of Boise, Idaho; his daughter and son-in-law, Pete and Tanya Castro of Fremont, California; his son Steve and grandchild Benjamin, of Gardnerville, Nevada; a nephew, Matthew Sabin, of Middletown, Connecticut; and a niece, Stephanie Sabin, of San Diego, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Sabin, both of Rockford, Illinois.
A memorial service celebrating his life and relocation to an address with gold-paved streets will be held Tuesday, Dec. 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ashland. Arrangements are being handled by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home of Ashland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ashland Hospital Foundation and Ashland Hospital Hospice.
June E. Moeller
The graveside service for June E. Moeller will be held Monday, January 16, 2006 at 2:00 P.M., at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. Rev. Jerry Gilmer of Eastwood Baptist Church, Medford, will officiate.
June E. Moeller, 81, of Phoenix, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at her residence.
Mrs. Moeller came to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Richmond, CA, where she was a coordinator for Meals-On-Wheels. She also was a professional musician.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Gordon, Novato, CA; and three sisters, Eunice Williams and Joyce Loe, both of Talent, and Ellen Barry of Hemet, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy.

Bettye Joy Smith passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006 at Jefferson Manor in Dallas, OR. Arrangements are by City View Funeral Home, Salem, OR.
Oscar C. Bjorlie
Oscar Clarence Bjorlie, 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Ashland on January 24, 2006. Oscar was born June 13, 1912 in Silver Lake, Iowa. He was the eldest son of Sigurd and Carrie Bjorlie. He was preceded in death by his brother Lauritz of Tucson, Arizona.
Oscar went to school in Albert Lee, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He received his masters of music degree from University of Oregon June 27, 1938, Oscar married Marie Monserud in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Moving to Ashland in 1946, Oscar and Marie raised two daughters, Jean and Judy. Marie died in 1989 after 50 years of married life.
Oscar was a music teacher, starting his career with choral music in Henning, Minnesota. Next he taught band in Kalispell, Montana. He was a Park Ranger in Glacier National Park for six years during the summers. Moving to Ashland, Oregon, in 1946, Oscar first taught vocal music at the Junior High and High School. In 1949 he started teaching at Southern Oregon University where he was the choral director. Oscar also taught Music Appreciation and Music Theory, retiring in 1975. He enjoyed directing the church choir at Zion Lutheran Church in Medford, playing cello in the Rogue Valley Symphony and tuba in the Ashland City Band for many years.
On October 6, 1990, Oscar married Thelma Lord in Medford. Thelma survives Oscar. They made their home in Ashland. Thelma and Oscar were active members of Ascension Lutheran Church. They enjoyed doing activities with their combined families.
Oscar loved music, attending many concerts. Traveling, including trailering, were favorite activities. He was a handy-man, he could fix anything. He was a solver of cross word puzzles and an avid cribbage player.
Family mourning his loss include his wife Thelma, his daughters Judy Bjorlie of Ashland and Jean Morgan and her husband Michael, of Ashland. Grandchildren of Oscar are Christopher Morgan and his wife Lorie of Jacksonville, Gail Kauffman and her husband Zac of Phoenix and Julia Morgan of Portland. Great-grandchildren include Riley Morgan, Lauren Morgan, Austin Morgan, Alec Kauffman and Bryce Kauffman
Memorials may be sent to Asante Hospice, Ascension Lutheran Church, Southern Oregon University Music Department, Rogue Valley Symphony or Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon.
The memorial service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2617 East Barnett Road, Medford, on Sunday, January 29th at 3 p.m.
