Oscar W. Riihimaki Jr.
The memorial service for Oscar Waldermar Riihimaki Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mennonite Church in Scio.
Mr. Riihimaki, 70, of Medford, died Saturday (July 10, 1999) at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.
He was born July 10, 1929, in Rainier, a son of Oscar and Jennie Riihimaki.
Mr. Riihimaki and his wife owned and operated the Sweet Shop Cafe in Scio. He also owned and operated the Phillips 66 gas station, and established Wally's West Scio Auto Wreckers. He sold the business to retire. He came out of retirement in 1987 to work
in industrial construction with his son, Roy. In 1989, he moved to Petersburg, Alaska, where he established and operated the Snowbird Maintenance business for six years.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician.
Mr. Riihimaki was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodges.
He enjoyed boating and fishing.
Survivors, include his wife, Carole, Medford; a son, Roy, Medford; a daughter, Linda Armstrong, Petersburg, Alaska; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Flora V. Sullivan
Flora "Skippy" Vernon Sullivan, 76, of Roseburg, formerly of Jacksonville, died July 5, 1999 in Roseburg. The memorial service was held at the V.A. National Cemetery in Roseburg. The Rev. Kelly Sullivan of Redding, Calif. officiated.
She was born Flora Bean on Sept. 15, 1922, in Trion, Ga., a daughter of James and Mary Bean.
On Oct. 31, 1948, in Dallas, Ga., she married Owen "Sully" Sullivan, who preceded her in death. She moved to Jacksonville in 1969, where she lived until she moved to Roseburg in 1991.
Mrs. Sullivan worked in the Sears cafeteria in Medford.
She enjoyed decorating her home at Christmas, and her decorations won honorable mention in the Jacksonville newspaper.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Shepherd, Elkton; a stepdaughter, Charleen Brusset, Jacksonville; three sons, Kelly, Redding, Calif., Casey, San Francisco, and Shawn, Portland; two sisters, Jewell Pearson, Newport, Va., and Rose Walker, in Arizona; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Cleo Anne Wood
The memorial service for Cleo Anne Wood will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. A cryptside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Wood, 72, of Medford, died Thursday (July 8, 1999) at her home after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Anne Marie Dankanich on June 4, 1927, in Coaldale, Pa. She received a degree in nursing from Temple University in Pennsylvania.
In 1953, in San Francisco, she married Hal Wood, who survives.
Mrs. Wood was a nurse in San Francisco and at the Rogue Valley Manor until her retirement in 1993. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She was a devout Catholic.
Mrs. Wood enjoyed travel, gardening, entertaining and bird watching.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Melissa Wood, Medford, Romana Wood, Vancouver, Wash., and Laura Horton, Santa Rosa, Calif; a sister, Gina Elliott, San Mateo, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Elinor Joan Anders
Elinor Joan Anders, 64, of Grants Pass, died Thursday (July 8, 1999) at her home. A private service will be held at a later date.

She was born Elinor Joan McKee on Aug. 24, 1934, in Chillicothe, Ohio.
On Aug. 23, 1986, in Camarillo, Calif., she married Arthur Anders, who survives. She moved to Grants Pass in 1993 from Agoura Hills, Calif.
Mrs. Anders was a registered nurse at Three Rivers Community Hospital & Health Center, Dimmick Campus, Grants Pass.
She enjoyed quilting, crafts and antiques.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Ralph Scott, Medford, and Todd Anders, Agoura Hills, Calif.; five daughters, Linda Smith, Valencia, Calif., Karen Jackson, Saugus, Calif., Becky Marchus, Marana, Ariz., Nancy Aitchison, Palmdale, Calif., and Criss Skinner, Woodland Hills, Calif.; her mother, Eva Maria Armstrong, Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Linda Mix, Bradenton, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

Valdimar Mencas
The memorial service for Valdimar Mencas will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford. The Rev. Bob Larson of Ascension Lutheran Church will officiate.
Mr. Mencas, 61, of Medford, died Thursday (July 8, 1999) in Medford.
He was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Vilnius, Lithuania.
On April 15, 1967, in Burlingame, Calif., he married Dianne Weih, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1981 from San Jose, Calif.
Mr. Mencas was the owner and operator of the Cedar Lodge Motor Inn in Medford.
He was a former president of the Motel/Restaurant Association, and the Timberjacks/Medford American Legion Baseball Club.
Mr. Mencas served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964.
He enjoyed writing, fishing, music and films.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Val Jr., Medford; two daughters, Lisa Mencas, Medford, and Tonya Poitevint, Portland; his mother, Matilda Mencas, San Jose, Calif.; and two sisters, Trudy Reinhardt, Ulster Park, N.Y., and Hilda Bower, San Jose, Calif.

Orrin `Bob' Morse
The memorial service for Orrin "Bob" Morse will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. John Braund of Phoenix First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mr. Morse, 81, of Medford, died Thursday (July 8, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born April 30, 1918, in Alexandria, Minn.
On Sept. 8, 1946, in Salome, Ariz., he married Cozett O. Pullins, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1952 from Globe, Ariz.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
After the war, Mr. Morse worked for Webster Dairy in Globe. After moving to the Rogue Valley, he worked at Snyder's Dairy in Medford. He also worked for Merchants Wholesale and McDonald Superval Division. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Morse was a member of the American Legion, Medford Post 15.
He enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, playing cards and spending winters in Arizona.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, William Morse, Portland, and Jack Pullins, Lake Bay, Wash.; a daughter, Jaci Bulsterbaum, Rowlett, Texas; three sisters, Helen Craig, Fairbault, Minn., Phyllis Nelson, Phoenix, Ariz., and Elaine Morris, Minneapolis; two brothers, Lyle, Brisbane, Australia, and Gordon, Salinas, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Opal Marie Pruitt
The graveside service for Opal Marie Pruitt will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. The Rev. John Braund of Phoenix First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mrs. Pruitt, 81, of Medford, died Thursday (July 8, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born Opal Bryant on June 5, 1918, in Kalispell, Mont.
She moved to the Rogue Valley from Bend in 1935 and graduated from Medford High School in 1936. She attended business college in Medford for two years.
On Sept. 4, 1946, in Medford, she married Joseph S. Pruitt, who survives.
Mrs. Pruitt was an accountant for the Jackson County Public Works Department for more than 41 years, retiring in 1980.
She enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, John H., Medford; a brother, Gerald Bryant, Downieville, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford.
