Leonard Scott Weaver

Leonard Scott Weaver, 71, of Mineral Wells, Texas, formerly of Medford, died Thursday (July 15, 1999) in a Mineral Wells hospital. A service has been held.

He was born Oct. 9, 1927, in El Dorado, Ark., a son of James R. and Goldie T. Weaver.

On Dec. 5, 1945, in Medford, he married Ona LaRue Halford, who survives. They later divorced, but remarried in Mineral Wells on Aug. 1, 1993.

Mr. Weaver was the produce manager for Ed Milne's Quality Market and the Big Y Supermarket in Medford until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Weaver was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Thomas L., Medford; three daughters, Linda S. Pendergrass, Wichita Falls, Texas, Susan Lowey, Mineral Wells, Texas, and Donna J. Harris, Woodson, Texas; two brothers, Gary, Medford, Clarence, Galena, Kansas; four sisters, Dora Ellen Vinson, Margaret Mae Wingert, Sarah Ann Bateman, and Mildred Lee Patterson, all Medford; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner, Mineral Wells, Texas.

Michael D. Anderson

The memorial service for Michael David Anderson will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Holmes Park in Medford.

Mr. Anderson, 32, died Thursday (July 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford, following a car accident.

He was born Sept. 13, 1966, in Sacramento, Calif. On June 19, 1993, in Sacramento, he married Aimee Lynn Place, who survives.

He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997 from California.

Mr. Anderson was a contractor. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He enjoyed disc golf, Aikido and Tai chi, and the outdoors.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Victoria Gregory, and a son, Erik Anderson, both of Grants Pass; his parents, David and Bonnie Anderson, of Sacramento; and a sister, Page Anderson, of Sacramento.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Brandi L. Donaldson

The memorial service for Brandi Lee Donaldson will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harvest Baptist Temple. Pastor Bob Gass will officiate. A private graveside service will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Miss Donaldson died Thursday (July 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 5331 S.W. Macadam Ave., Portland, OR 97201.

She was born Nov. 26, 1971, in Medford. She graduated from South Medford High School in 1989.

The highlight of her life was meeting her idol, country singer Alan Jackson, after local doctors, nurses and friends raised the money. She also enjoyed her dog, Skippy.

She attended Harvest Baptist Temple.

Survivors include her father, Gerald L. Donaldson, Medford; her mother and stepfather, Dana L. and Terry Cory, Central Point; a brother, Will E. Donaldson, Medford; two stepbrothers, Kevin Cory, Medford, and Todd Cory, Central Point; and a stepsister, Amber Cory, Medford.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Phyllis Hulin, in 1984, and her grandfather, Virgil Donaldson, in 1989.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Loretta A. Roatcap

The funeral for Loretta Angela Roatcap of Medford will be at 1 p.m Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mrs. Roatcap died Friday (July 16, 1999) at her home.

She was born Loretta Anastasia Sept. 27, 1917, in Buffalo, N.Y.

On Oct. 2, 1966, in Glendale, Calif., she married Loren Roatcap, who survives.

She moved to the Rogue Valley 16 years ago from Glendale, Calif.

Mrs. Roatcap was a homemaker, She enjoyed playing cards.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four sons, Raymond Gale, Medford, Robert Gale, Corvallis, Richard Gale, Bellingham, Wash., and Ronald Gale, Mayfield, Ky.; one brother, David Anastasia; two sisters, Teresa Rubertone and Catherine Vilardo; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Elinore Meyers.

Friends may pay their respects from 6-7 p.m. Sunday at Conger-Morris Mortuary.

Marvin A. Copple

The funeral for Marvin A. Copple will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -- Brookhurst Chapel. Bishop John Vial of the Medford 4th Ward will officiate. Interment will follow in Stearns/Wagner Creek Cemetery in Talent.

Mr. Copple, 81, of Medford, died Wednesday (July 14, 1999) at Medford Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Salt Lake City.

On Feb. 11, 1940, in Yuma, Ariz., he married Melba Rae Sorensen, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990.

Mr. Copple was a heavy equipment/shop foreman in the rock, sand and gravel industry.

He was a member of the Medford 4th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mr. Copple enjoyed gunsmithing, hunting, fishing and vegetable gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Neil A., Medford, Jon C., Central Point, Van A., Norco, Calif., and Robert M., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl Copple, Gillette, Wyo.; a brother, Jack, Hemet, Calif. 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Camile Rae Culleeney, died June 10, 1999. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may pay their respects at 10 a.m. Monday in the Brookhurst Chapel.

William N. Dahlstrom

William N. Dahlstrom, 88, of Medford, died Thursday (July 15, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elks Children's Eye Clinic, c/o BPOE 1168, 202 N. Central, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Sept. 2, 1910, in Pine City, Minn.

On Oct. 19, 1941, in Reno, Nev., he married Rosemary Morris, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1957 from Cottage Grove.

Mr. Dahlstrom worked in road construction for the state of Oregon.

He was a life member of Medford Elks No. 1168 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1383 in Klamath Falls.

Mr. Dahlstrom enjoyed hunting, fishing and rock collectings.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Bill, Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Jeanette Jones, Honolulu; a sister, Carrie Madsen, Hood River; a brother, Cliff, Pine City, Minn.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Bette J. Rothermel

The memorial service for Bette Jane Rothermel will be at 11 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Phoenix. Pastor Dale Adams will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mrs. Rothermel, 73, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (July 14, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Home in Medford from complications from diabetes.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Phoenix, 306 West First St., Phoenix, OR 97535.

She was born Bette Swain on Jan. 26, 1926, in Franklin, N.H. She attended Keen Teachers College in New Hampshire for one year.

On Feb. 11, 1972, in Craig, Colo., she married John Rothermel, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Fairfield, Calif.

Mrs. Rothermel was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Phoenix, where she enjoyed singing with the choir.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four daughters, Kerri Herring, Bend, Donna Nudd, Billings, Mont., Rhonda Kay Kalista and Tracy Lynn Harris, both in California; a sister, Melissa Benfeld, in New Hampshire; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Wayne Kalista; a brother, Vaughn Dudley; and a sister, Olive Nudd.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Bruce Osborn Barrett

Bruce Osborn Barrett, 69, of Central Point, died July 2, 1999, at Hearthstone. Private interment was in Scenic Hills Memorial Park.

He was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Twin Falls, Idaho, a son of Arthur Moore and Esther Harriett Lusted Barrett.

Mr. Barrett graduated from Ashland High School and attended Southern Oregon College for two years. He transferred to Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, for one year, and to the University of Oregon in Eugene for one year.

Mr. Barrett was a carpenter and painter.

Survivors include a brother, David M., Spokane, Wash.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
