Samantha Lynn Milazzo
Sierra Anne Milazzo
Samantha Lynn Milazzo and Sierra Anne Milazzo, twin daughters of Michael and Ana Milazzo of Medford, were stillborn Wednesday (Aug. 11, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.
Survivors, in addition to their parents, include two brothers, Michael Jr., and Matthew, both Medford; their grandparents, Jill Swindler, Medford, Georgette Ramirez, Denver, Colo., and Sam Milazzo, Clarksdale, Mo.; and their great-grandparents, Nini Mutchik, Freeman Spur, Ill., and Pete Seymour, Lake Havasu, Ariz.

Dennis Smesrud
The funeral for Dennis "Smez" Smesrud will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Smesrud, 54, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Aug. 11, 1999) at his home.

He was born June 11, 1945, in Portland.
On April 3, 1976, in Portland, he married Nancy Bash, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1996 from Portland.
Mr. Smesrud enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and bird watching.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Lisa Johnson, Okinawa, Japan; a son, Douglas, Escalon, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Janet Maulden, Portland; a stepson, Leo Bash, Carson City, Nev.; a brother, Bob, Portland; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Roy Samuel Madden
The graveside service for Roy Samuel Madden will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Bob Roth of the Medford Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
Mr. Madden, 64, of Medford, died Thursday (Aug. 12, 1999) at his home.

He was born June 12, 1935, in Hugoton, Kan., a son of Ernest Samuel and Florence Edith (Parsons) Madden. He moved to Phoenix with his parents when he was 2 months old. He graduated from Phoenix High School in 1954.
On Aug. 16, 1963, in Lake Tahoe, he married Joan Johnson, who survives.
Mr. Madden was a general contractor for many years. He and his brother, William F. Madden, were the owners and operators of WRM Construction, Inc.
He was a member of the Medford Chapter of the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Medford Chapter of the Elks (B.P.O.E. 1168). He enjoyed sports, fishing and flying.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Tammi Studebaker, Medford, Anita Watkins, Beale Air Force Base, Calif., and Lisa Backes, South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; a son, David Snook, Salem; a brother, Wiliam F., Phoenix; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Marvin, Robert L. and James L.

Albert John Schaffran
The memorial service for Albert John Schaffran will be at 3 p.m. today in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Veterans for Veterans will officiate.
Mr. Schaffran, 81, of Medford, died Tuesday (Aug. 10, 1999) at his home.
He was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Castle Rock, Wash. He was raised in Castle Rock.
On Jan. 4, 1963, in Reno, Nev., he married Helen C. Tippery, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1964 from Myrtle Creek.
Mr. Schaffran was a log truck driver for R.&B. Brown Trucking in White City, retiring in 1983.
He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
Mr. Schaffran enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Michael Verl Swanson
The graveside service for Michael Verl Swanson will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Swanson, 56, of Medford, died Wednesday (Aug. 11, 1999) in Medford.

He was born March 19, 1943, in Salmon, Idaho, a son of Oscar and Mildred Swanson. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Salmon in 1944.
Mr. Swanson worked for Bi-Mart for 19 years. For the past two years, he worked for Ponderings Plus Nursery in Medford.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Swanson enjoyed gardening and collecting antiques.
Survivors include three brothers, Robert D. Hill, Butte Falls, James W. Hill, Missoula, Mont., and Vern G. Swanson, Springville, Utah; and two sisters, Barbara Lane, Medford, and Cheryl Robertson, Central Point.
Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors in Medford.
Virgil L. Bradley
Virgil Lawrence Bradley, 85, of Ashland, formerly of Jacksonville, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1999) at Skylark Enhanced Care Center. A private service is planned.

He was born March 5, 1914, in East Wenatchee, Wash.
On Oct. 15, 1932, in Waterville, Wash., he married Emily Louise Graf, who died in 1993. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1937.
Mr. Bradley worked in local lumber and plywood mills. He was a logger for many years before becoming the owner/operator of the Central Point Texaco service station, and later the Chore Boy milking equipment business. He retired in 1976.
He enjoyed traveling and sightseeing.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis, Central Point, and Ronald, Arcata, Calif; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard, in 1996; and four brothers.

Ross Colburn
Ross Colburn, 79, of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1999) at his home. A private service will be held.

He was born April 20, 1920, in Morristown, N.Y. He graduated from high school in Morristown.
On June 30, 1943, he married Camilla Louise Best, who survives.
Mr. Colburn owned and operated a fuel oil company and a home building construction company in Massena, N.Y. He later started Colburn Trucking Company in Massena. Following a move to Sunnyvale, Calif., in 1967, he worked for California Motor Express until his retirement. He moved to Paradise, Calif., in 1985 and to the Rogue Valley five years ago.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Bill, San Francisco; four brothers, Keith, in Florida, Art, in upstate New York, Bob, Rochester, N.Y., and Bill, Anchorage, Alaska; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy.

David Andersen Jr.
The graveside service for David Andersen Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Andersen, 77, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (Aug. 11, 1999) at his home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Jacksonville, Iowa. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1957.
He married Eleanor Detlefsen, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Andersen was a dryer feeder for Timber Products. He retired in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Andersen enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis, Grants Pass, and David L., Channel Islands, Calif.; a daughter, Shirley Rake, Stockton, Calif.; three brothers, Vern and James, both White City, and Alva, Albany; two sisters, Erville Hein, Eagle Point, and Vivian Ohl, Woodbine, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Russell, and three brothers, Wilbur, Charles and Norman.
