Verne Rosell Harper
The funeral for Verne Rosell Harper will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point. The Rev. Ronald Norris of St. John's Lutheran Church in Eagle Point will officiate. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery in Sams Valley.

Mr. Harper, 96, of Eagle Point, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 29, 1903 in John Day. On June 8, 1935, in Medford, he married Verta O. Matthews, who survives.
He was raised in Beagle, which is now Sams Valley. He raised cattle in Eagle Point for 50 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Oregon Cattlemen's Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed gardening, baseball and the outdoors.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Vern R. of Central Point; a daughter, Velda Hunt of Eagle Point; a sister, Jeri Busby of Eagle Point; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Vance, and three brothers, Herschel, Melvin and Chancy.

Joyce Elaine Baldwin
The memorial service for Joyce Elaine Baldwin will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Medford. Pastor Rick Burns will officiate.
Mrs. Baldwin, 48, of White City, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Joyce Elaine Mansfield on July 7, 1951 in Ketchikan, Alaska, a daughter of Myrna and Don Mansfield. In March 1971, she married Steven D. Baldwin of Medford, and moved to Olympia, Wash. They later divorced.
She worked in procurement for the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Wash.
In 1993, Mrs. Baldwin moved to White City, where she was active in community affairs.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Myrna and Dean TenBrook of Medford; a daughter, Jatina Marie Baldwin of Salt Lake City; a son, James Edward Baldwin of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Michael A. Mansfield of Medford and Terrance L. Mansfield of Olympia; three sisters, Janeane M. Jaynes of League City, Texas, and Jenalee S. LaVia and Jean E. TenBrook of Medford; her grandmother, Lois I. Whitesides of Medford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Don L. Mansfield of Washington, in May 1983.

John Howard Wagner
John Howard Wagner, 72, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Aug. 21, 1999) at his home in Waldport. A private family service will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Oregon and S.W. Washington, care of DeMoss-Durdan Garden Chapel, 815 N.W. Buchanan, Corvallis, OR 97330.
Mr. Wagner was born July 28, 1927 in Klamath Falls, a son of Willis and Dorothy Wagner.
He began an apprenticeship as a printer in St. Louis, Mo.
On Nov. 5, 1949, he married Lucille Frances Metejka, who died in December 1993.
The family moved to San Francisco, where Mr. Wagner took a job at the San Francisco Examiner. They moved to Medford in 1963, where he wrote the "Fin and Fur" column for the Mail Tribune.
They moved to Cheney, Wash., where he worked for the Spokane newspaper for a few years. They moved to Brookings, and then to Waldport in the late 1980s, where he continued to enjoy hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Wagner of Salem. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, John W., in 1984, and a son, Steven D., in 1997.

Florence Linda Renaker
Florence Linda Renaker, 93, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 22, 1999) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Care Center.
A private inurnment will be held at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford.
She was born Florence Kibler on Jan. 3, 1906 in Butlerville, Ind.
On Jan. 27, 1951 in Chicago, Ill., she married George Paul Renaker. He died in 1984.
Mrs. Renaker studied and worked at American Academy of Art from 1928 until World War II, when she worked in freight traffic offices. After the war, she returned to the academy, staying there 18 years in all.
She was the first woman to make a trip alone on the Colorado River from Hite, Utah to Lee's Ferry, Ariz. (167 miles) in a rubber raft in 1950, before the Glen Canyon Dam was built. She worked for the Rogue River National Forest from 1955 to 1968.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Medford Garden Club.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert R. Markham
The memorial service for Albert Raymond Markham will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Ashland First Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Baldrica will officiate.
Private entombment will be in Sunrise Court Mausoleum, Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Markham, 96, of Ashland, died Wednesday (Aug. 25, 1999) at his home.
He was born March 23, 1903 in Attica, Kan., to William H. and Ella Belle Markham. On Aug. 19, 1937, in Alva, Okla., he married Harriet Bliss, who survives.
They moved from Long Beach, Calif., to Ashland in 1949. Through the years he worked as a rancher, an electrician, and in local lumber mills. From 1959 until his retirement in 1968 he worked as a custodian for the Ashland Public School District, including Walker School and Ashland High School. He was a member of Ashland First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Nelson Markham of Bayonette Point, Fla.; two daughters, Donna Burzota of Fruitland, Idaho and Carol Tshionyi of Eugene; a brother, Joe Markham of Ashland; three sisters, Iris Pinkston of Santa Barbara, Calif., Louise Marshall of Camarillo, Calif., and Eva Stewart of Wichita, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Leo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Cecil Ray Wood
The graveside service for Cecil Ray Wood will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Wood, 75, of Tacoma, formerly of Medford, died Wednesday (Aug. 25, 1999) in Puyallup, Wash.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born June 6, 1924, in Hanna, Okla., a son of Lena May (Anthony) and Albert C. Wood.
On Feb. 3, 1946, he married Marjorie E. Suther, who survives. They lived in Medford from 1957 to 1998, when thye moved to Tacoma.
Mr. Wood was a mechanic, a welder, and a construction worker.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Danny; three sisters, Marjorie Reasoner, Little Rock, Ark., Edith Clark, Merced, Calif., and Bonnie Crouse, Kelso, Wash.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Harry D. and Tommy D.; a daughter, Judy A. Wood; and two sisters, Lucille Brock and Henrietta Reed.

Jessie May Robinson
Jessie May Robinson, 91, of Napa, Calif., formerly of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 19, 1999) at the home of her granddaughter in Napa.
Inurnment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. A family memorial was held in California.
She was born Jessie May Reed on April 17, 1908 in Douglas, Ariz., a daughter of Hugh and Hattie Reed.
In Douglas, Ariz. she married Edward E. Robinson, who died in 1974.
In 1945 she moved to Applegate and then to the Table Rock area, farming with her husband in both places. In 1965 they moved to Medford, where they continued to farm with a son. In 1995, she moved to Fairfield, Calif.
Mrs. Robinson was active in community affairs, and was a member of the Table Rock Sunday School and the Christian Church in Medford.
Survivors include three sons, W. D., Fairfield, Calif., Edward W., Themopolis, Wyo., and Elgin G., Stockton, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother in 1964 and a grandson in 1994.

Tyrus `Ty' Cobb Blair
The memorial service for Tyrus "Ty" Cobb Blair will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. John Braund of First Presbyterian Church of Phoenix will officiate.
Mr. Blair, 84, of Phoenix, died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center, Medford.
He was born Aug. 9, 1915 in Chickamauga, Ga., a son of Ernest and Hazel Blair.
On April 18, 1954, in China Lake, Calif., he married Donna Bentham, who survives. He moved to Phoenix in 1980 from San Jose, Calif.
During World War II, he served as a Chief Store Keeper in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Langley.
He was an administrator for Lockheed Corp. missiles and space products for 24 years, retiring in 1979.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Suzen Blair, Phoenix; a son, Rusty, Federal Way, Wash.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
