Gail Marie Kingsolver

The memorial service for Gail Marie Kingsolver will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Ms. Kingsolver, 44, of Butte Falls, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) in Eagle Point.

She was born Gail Harden on Sept. 13, 1954, in Goodrich, Mich. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968 from Flint, Mich. She graduated from Butte Falls High School in 1972.

Ms. Kingsolver was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Woodrow, Butte Falls, and Patrick, Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Marie Kingsolver, Medford, and Karen Blomberg, Savannah, Ga.; her mother, Mary Merrill, Butte Falls; three brothers, Shail Harden, Eagle Point, David Griffiths, Medford, and Woodrow Sawvel, Stayton; two sisters, Laura Coffman, Phoenix, and Joyce Laidlaw, Eagle Point; her grandmother, Laura Winterhalder, Flint, Mich.; and one grandchild.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Gary `Moke' Bell

The memorial service for Gary "Moke" Bell will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the 3C Camp in Tiller.

Mr. Bell, 53, of Tiller, formerly of Ashland, died Aug. 24, 1999, at his home.

He was born Sept. 19, 1945, in Ashland, a son of Daryl and Arlene Bell.

Mr. Bell was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bell, Tiller; two daughters, Lisa Umana, Reno, Nev., and Dawn Sharp; his father, Daryl, Sunny Valley; and a brother, Floyd, Cove. He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Converse.

Arrangements: Mountain View Funeral Home & Crematory, Myrtle Creek.

Agnes Jolivette-Beeson

The Mass for Agnes I. Jolivette-Beeson will be at 10 a.m. today in St. John The Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City.

Mrs. Jolivette-Beeson, 95, of Oregon City, formerly of Talent, died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) in Oregon City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201, or to St. John The Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 417 Washington St., Oregon City, OR 97045.

She was born Agnes Moody on Feb. 18, 1904, in Chicago.

In 1926, she married Louis Jolivette, who died in 1959. She moved to Portland from Chicago in 1952.

In 1964, she married Everett Beeson, who died in 1974.

In Portland, Mrs. Jolivette-Beeson and her first husband owned and operated Lew's Corner Market, and one other market, for six years. In 1955, she moved to West Linn, where she worked as a hostess for the Old West Linn Hotel and Restaurant. She moved to Talent in 1964, after which she volunteered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland and the credit union. She returned to Oregon City in 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald L. Jolivette, Oregon City, and Kenneth J. Jolivette, Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and 11 siblings.

Arrangements: Holman-Hankins-Bowker & Waud, Oregon City.

Don B. Callahan

The funeral for Don B. Callahan will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Gerald A. Buckley of Our Lady of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be in Scenic Hills Memorial Park in Ashland.

Mr. Callahan, 82, of Ashland, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation Hospice, 2825 Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born March 23, 1917, in Sacramento, Calif., a son of Thomas and Mary Burr Callahan.

On Sept. 10, 1951, in Ashland, he married Nilde Cervellin, who survives.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army on Okinawa, in the South Pacific.

After the war, in worked in a lumber mill in Hilt, Calif., before opening Callahan's Restaurant on Old Highway 99 South near the Siskiyou Summit in 1947.

The original restaurant was in the path of Interstate 5 construction, and in 1965 the business moved to its present location. Mr. Callahan retired in 1982.

He was a life member of the Ashland Elks Lodge No. 944.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Gary, Sacramento, Rick, Fairfield, Calif., Randy, Shady Cove, and Brian, Ashland; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1976, and a brother and sister.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Howard M. Jory

The memorial service for Howard M. Jory will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Trail Christian Fellowship.

Mr. Jory, 67, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at his home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1932 in Sunnyside, Wash., a son of Melvin and Ruth (Scott) Jory.

On May 4, 1979, in Dallas, Texas, he married Dianne Kashel, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley seven years ago.

Mr. Jory served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He worked in the aerospace industry for 43 years. He worked for the McDonnell-Douglas Co. for 36 years. He worked on Gemini 2 through 8, Skylab, the Tomahawk cruise missile program, and on instruments that monitored astronauts' vital signs.

He enjoyed genealogy and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, John, Ohio, Victor, Florida, Robert, Utah, and Joe, Virginia; a daughter, Kathy Jackson, Washington; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Karl N. Hyrup Jr.

The memorial service for Karl N. Hyrup Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Veterans for Veterans will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eagle Point Lions Club, Diabetes Fund, P.O. Box 55, Eagle Point, OR 97524.

Mr. Hyrup, 79, of White City, died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 18, 1919 in Oakland, Calif. On Sept. 28, 1997, in White City, he married Elvira Ramirez, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Clear Lake, Calif.

Mr. Hyrup served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Hyrup owned and operated Hyrup Trucking in San Leandro, Calif., until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of the Eagle Point Lions Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Calif.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Tom K., Central Point, and Eugene A. Medford; two daughters, Virginia Sousa, in Oregon, and Linda Mason, Clear Lake, Calif; three sisters, Evelyn Hutchingson, Thelma Marquis and Esther Weaver, all of California; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred June Waits Hyrup, in 1988.

Donald L. Cardiff Jr.

The memorial service for Donald L. Cardiff will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. David Close of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Medford, and Veterans for Veterans will officiate. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Cardiff, 71, of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 27, 1999) at his home.

He was born Sept. 1, 1928, in Bakersfield, Calif. He married Maria Zenaida Etulle, who survives. He had lived in the Rogue Valley for seven years, moving from San Clemente, Calif.

Mr. Cardiff served in the U.S, Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.

He was vice-president of operations at International Technical Products.

Mr. Cardiff was a member of the Elks and the Boy Scouts of America.

He enjoyed barbecuing, traveling and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, John, Medford; and two daughters, Pamela Spaulding, Houston, Texas, and Cheryl Cardiff, Lexington, Ky.

Mildred M. Henderson

Mildred Melissa Henderson, 84, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (Aug. 25, 1999), at Three Fountains Nursing Center, Medford. A private family service will be held. Inurnment will be in Lake County Cemetery, Ronan, Mont.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

She was born Mildred Melissa Vanness on March 23, 1915 in Saskatchewan, Canada. On October 11, 1932 in Polson, Mont., she married Clarence "Peck" Henderson, who died in 1974. She moved to the Rogue Valley 50 years ago from Helena, Mont.

Mrs. Henderson and her husband built and operated the Eagle Trailer Park in Eagle Point for several years.

She was a member of the Eastern Star in Montana.

Mrs. Henderson enjoyed walking, reading and birding.

Survivors include a son, Dewey, Eagle Point; two daughters, Barbara Dodenhoff, Eagle Point, and Joanne R. Pond, Aumsville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
