Robert Vroman
The memorial service for Robert Vroman, photographer and artist, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Robinson of Medford Congregational Church will officiate and there will be a military honor guard.
Mr. Vroman, 79, of Medford, died died Thursday (Aug. 26, 1999) at his home.
A family service was held Aug. 31 at Island Lake in the Sky Lakes Wilderness area, where the family camped often while the children were growing up. Four generations of the Vroman family hiked into the area for the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to South Medford High School, 815 S Oakdale Ave., Attention: Peggy Strain in the Activities Office, Medford, OR 97501, to be used for art supplies.
Joe M. Couch
The memorial service for Joe M. Couch will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Cantrall Buckley Park, Area D. The Rev. Stan Johnson will officiate.
Mr. Couch, 55, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Jacksonville and Medford, died Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) in Bakersfield, Calif.

He was born April 2, 1944, in Culver City, Calif., a son of Walter and Millie Couch. He was raised and attended school in Jacksonville and Medford, and lived in the area until 1979. He returned to the Rogue Valley in 1990 and later moved to Texas.
On May 11, 1977, in Reno, Nev., he married Marion McDougall, who survives.
Mr. Couch was a truck driver with Bell Trucking Co, Inc., of Shoemakersville, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966.
Mr. Couch enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Nathan Couch, New Castle, Colo., and Allen Skenandore, Mesa, Ariz.; four daughters, Marie Hines, Oceanside, Calif., Ranae Terbasket, Lindale, Texas, Shawna McDougall, Tyler, Texas, and Paula Mead, Gardenerville, Nev.; his mother, Millie V. Couch, Jacksonville; three brothers, Walter Couch, Cordell, Ga., Jack McKinney, Jacksonville, and George Couch, Jacksonville; two sisters, Janice Stuffing, Orofino, Idaho, and Cherry Stacy, Talmage, Utah; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Charlie Skenandore; and his father, Walter L. Couch, in 1984.

John `JC' McNease
The memorial service for John Charlie "JC" McNease will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Central Point Assembly of God. Pastor Jeff Anderson will officiate.
Mr. McNease, 51, of White City, died Sunday (Sept. 12, 1999) at his home.

He was born April 17, 1948, in Winnsboro, La.
On July 18, 1980, in Central Point, he married Terrilee M. Sanderson, who survives.
Mr. McNease owned and operated Make-a-Way Trucking in White City.
He enjoyed the outdoors, racing on the sand dunes and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Nikki McNease, Heather Dillon and Misty Dillon, all White City, and Christy McNease, Riverside, Calif.; five brothers; four sisters; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Roy Junior Wilson
The graveside service for Roy Junior Wilson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Chaplain Earl Best of Providence Medford Medical Center will officiate.
Mr. Wilson, 75, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Hot Springs, Ark., a son of Willy Roy and Pansy Pearl (Asher) Wilson. He grew up in Lakeview.
On June 10, 1946, in Reno, Nev., he married Ramona Hampton, who died in 1998. After moving to Hilt, Calif., he returned to the Rogue Valley in 1948.
Mr. Wilson worked for Medco for 16 years, until his retirement. Prior to that he had worked at Elk Lumber Co. for many years.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner's mate on the USS William S. Porter during World War II.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, cooking and gunsmithing.
Survivors include a daughter, Gayle Wilson, Medford.

Lola S. Mercer
The graveside service for Lola S. Mercer will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford.
Mrs. Mercer, 87, of Grants Pass, formerly of Medford, died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at High House Care Center in Grants Pass.

She was born Feb. 29, 1912, in Plaza, Wash., a daughter of Laura and Moses Hood. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Idaho in 1926.
On Sept. 7, 1934, in Sparks, Nev., she married Harold B. Mercer, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Mercer worked as a housekeeper, nanny and cook when she was young. Later she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the West Main Church of Christ in Medford and the Emblem Club.
Mrs. Mercer enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include a son, Gerald E., Grants Pass; a daughter, Nona Wallace, Salem; two sisters, Wilma McGraw, Medford, and Wanda Bryant, Chula Vista, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Medford.

William Ernest Fry
William Ernest Fry, 90, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) at his home. A private service will be held later.
He was born Aug. 16, 1909, in Coffeeville, Kan.
In 1964, he married Alice Gomes, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley three months ago from Fresno, Calif.
Mr. Fry was a maintenance manager for Standard Oil for 35 years, until his retirement.
He was a member of the Retired Standard Oil Employees Association.
Mr. Fry enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Judith L. Bennett, San Jose, Calif.; three stepsons; and two grandchildren.

Macaleine O. Hogate
Macaleine O. Hogate, 85, of Medford, died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 1999) in Farmington Square in Medford. No service is planned. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
She was born Aug. 21, 1914, in St. Frances, Kan., a daughter of Virgil and Mytilda (Idleman) Hogate. She lived in the Rogue Valley for more than 30 years.
Ms. Hogate was a grocery clerk at Safeway, retiring in 1969.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three nieces, Connie Jacot, Portland, Pamela Avery, Vancouver, Wash., and Tonya Schlinkmeier; and a nephew, Michael Schlinkmeier. She was preceded in death by a sister, June Schlinkmeier.

Thelma V. Bowling
The chapel service for Thelma Virginia Bowling will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Chapel in Medford. The Rev. Johnny Lay of Foothills Baptist Church will officiate. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
Mrs. Bowling, 80, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center in Medford.
She was born Jan. 30, 1919, in McAlester, Okla., a daughter of Arthur and Bessie (Morrison) McConnell.
On Oct. 23, 1936, in Muskogee, Okla., she married John Wesley Bowling, who died in 1998. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1954 from Elk City, Okla.
Mrs. Bowling was a meat wrapper for Safeway, Groceteria, Thunderbird and Matlock grocery stores in Medford.
She was a member of the Lozier Lane Southern Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bowling enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Gene, Medford, and Bud, Central Point; a brother, R.G. McConnell, Elk City, Okla; four sisters, Juanita Jordan, Margaret Richey, and LaVera Bowles Lingscheit, all of Medford, and Shirley Ehrenfeld, Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton McConnell.
