Michael E. O'Brien
The memorial Mass for Michael E. O'Brien will be at noon Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Carmelo Misfud will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. O'Brien, 79, of Medford, died Tuesday (Sept. 21, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Cedarhust, Long Island, N.Y.
On Feb. 15, 1947, in Honolulu, he married Elizabeth McHugh, who survives.
Mr. O'Brien was an accountant with Pacific Chemical and Fertilizer in Honolulu for 10 years. He operated a travel agency in San Diego for 15 years, until his retirement. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from San Diego.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a brother, John, Seattle; and four sisters, May McPhee, Margaret Long, Patricia O'Brien and Joan O'Brien, all in Seattle. Preceding him in death was a brother, William, in 1998.

D. Florence Horn
D. Florence Horn, 83, of Ashland, died Monday (Sept. 20, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.
She was born July 13, 1916, in Peggs, Okla., a daughter of Minnie and Ernest Burns. She moved to Ashland from Brookings.
Mrs. Horn was a waitress at Kim's Restaurant in Medford.
Survivors include a son, John A. Bellack, Ashland; a daughter, Connie B. Thompson, Springfield; five sisters, May Belle Patterson, Pawhuska, Okla., Mildred Jackson, Stillwell, Okla., Lucille Ellis, Jenks, Okla., Lee Pearce, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Bea Kimbrell, Edmond, Okla.

Evelyn E. Spears
Evelyn Elizabeth Spears, 66, of Central Point, died Monday (Sept. 20, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service will be held.

She was born Evelyn E. Bair on April 11, 1933, in Potlatch, Idaho. She attended two years of business college.
On April 4, 1952, in Lewiston, Idaho, she married Forrest "Dean" Spears, who survives.
Mrs. Spears was a legal secretary.
She enjoyed boating and waterskiing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Carmen Jones, Central Point; a brother, Layton Bair, Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Leola Parsely, Lewiston, Idaho; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Isobel B. Carr Johnson
The memorial service for Isobel Barbara Carr Johnson will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Viking Hall in Sylvania, Wash.
Mrs. Johnson, 63, of La Conner, Wash., formerly of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 17, 1999) at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
She was born Dec. 25, 1935, in Medford, a daughter of Frederick James and Willy (Moody) Carr. She graduated from Medford High School in 1953, and received a degree in elementary education in 1956 from what is now Southern Oregon University in Ashland.
She taught elementary school in Lake Oswego for a year before marrying Philip G. Johnson Jr. of Seattle in 1957. They later divorced.
Mrs. Johnson was a master gardener by profession and avocation. She lived in Seattle until her children were grown, and then moved to the Skagit River area in Washington.
Survivors include a son, Charles, Seattle; two daughters, Sarah Graham, Philipsburg, Mont., and Mary Ellen Johnson, Seattle; a sister, Carolyn Choate, The Dalles; and two grandchildren.

John C. Rosendaul
The memorial service for John C. Rosendaul will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Rosendaul, 73, of Medford, died Tuesday (Sept. 21, 1999) in Three Fountains Nursing Care Center.

He was born April 25, 1926, in Vancouver, Wash.
On April 25, 1947, in Vancouver, Wash., he married Anerva Lucia Johnson, who died in 1992. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Corvallis in 1967.
Mr. Rosendaul was a supervisor for Timber Products in plywood manufacturing for 21 years, retiring in 1988. After his retirement, he was a consultant for plywood manufacturing, traveling to Bhutan and Brazil.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two sons, J., Eagle Point, and Gary, Medford; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Gaylord Lee Loop
The graveside service for Gaylord Lee Loop will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. Minister Stan Johnson of West Main Church of Christ will officiate.
Mr. Loop, 74, of Coos Bay, formerly of Medford, died Sept. 8, 1999, at his home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Macomb, Ill., a son of Amos and Maude Loop. He lived in Portland for 50 years.
Mr. Loop was a longtime employee of American Steel Corp. in Portland.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Loop was a member of the Eagles Lodge and attended the Nazarene Church.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and ballroom dancing.
Survivors include a brother, Norman, Auburn, Calif.; three sisters, Marjorie Flanery, Fountain Valley, Calif., Darlene Mellberg, Downey, Calif., and Reta Saunders, Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esta Moss.

Huldah Fisher
The memorial service for Huldah Rose Fisher, longtime Medford school teacher, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Medford. The Revs. Joyce DeGraaff and John Braund will officiate.
Mrs. Fisher, 78, of Medford, died Sunday (Sept. 19, 1999). Her paternal grandparents, Samuel and Huldah Colver, built Colver House in Phoenix in the 1850s. It still stands on the south end of town.

Mary A. Tompkins
The funeral Mass for Mary Assunta Tompkins will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fortuna, Calif. Entombment will be in Ocean View Mausoleum in Eureka, Calif.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Gobles Fortuna Mortuary in Fortuna, Calif.
Mrs. Tompkins, 80, of Shady Cove, died Saturday (Sept. 18, 1999) at her home.

She was born Mary Assunta Balestracci on Aug. 8, 1919, in Ponticello, Italy.
On Aug. 9, 1976, in Reno, Nev., she married Curtis Tompkins, who died in 1991. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1980 from Fortuna, Calif.
Mrs. Tompkins owned and operated the Friendly Corner Restaurant in Loleta, Calif. from 1949 to 1974.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Mrs. Tompkins enjoyed fishing and needlepoint.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Clark, Shady Cove, and Barbara Delaney, Mad River, Calif.; a son, Emil Feirabend, Ferndale, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Kenneth G. Smith
The funeral for Kenneth G. Smith will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. The Rev. Alice Knotts of Talent United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Mr. Smith, 86, of Ashland, died Sunday (Sept. 19, 1999) in Medford Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 11, 1913, in San Diego, a son of Anna and Junius Smith. He was raised in Vaca Valley and Sacramento, Calif.
On June 25, 1940, in San Francisco, he married Jean Smith, who survives.
Mr. Smith owned and operated Smith Brothers Pharmacy and Variety Store in Sacramento from 1954 to 1966. He also worked for the California Department of Education as a storekeeper from 1966 to 1979. He retired in 1979 and moved to Ashland.
He served in the Army Air Force as an instruments technician during World War II.
Mr. Smith was an Ashland Watershed Patrol volunteer. Known in his neighborhood as "Smitty," he and his dog AJ spent many hours walking in their neighborhood.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Kenneth Jr., Ashland, and Doug, Modesto, Calif. and Ashland; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
