E. Lois Kilbourn
E. Lois Kilbourn, 76, of Central Point, died Saturday, (Sept. 25, 1999) at her home. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born E. Lois Smith on Oct. 15, 1922, in Atlanta, Ga.
On Nov. 25, 1942, in Atlanta, she married Donald G. Kilbourn, who died in 1998. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959 from Washington.
Mrs. Kilbourn was a homemaker.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting and square dancing.
Mrs. Kilbourn was a member of the Grange, the Sams Valley Ladies Club, and the Star Promenaders square dance club.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan K. Coplen and L. Elizabeth Dye, both Medford; two sons, James A., Sacramento, Calif., and Don G., Sunnyvale, Calif.; a brother, William Green Smith Jr., South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

John Paul Jones
The graveside service for John Paul Jones will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mr. Jones, 74, of Ashland, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 1999) at his home.
He was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Indianola, Iowa, a son of Paul and Ada Jones. He moved to Ashland in 1990.
He studied pre-engineering at Simpson College in Indianola. He earned a bachelor's degree in fine art in 1949 from the State University of Iowa in Iowa City, and a master's of fine art in 1951.
Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery in Hawaii and Okinawa from 1944 to 1946.
He was an art instructor at several institutions from 1951 until his retirement in 1990, including the University of Oklahoma, State University of Iowa, the University of California at Los Angeles, where he founded the printmaking department, and the University of California at Irvine. During this time he exhibited his own work of prints, paintings and sculptures.
He traveled and lived in European countries, including Spain and Wales. He earned numerous awards and fellowships, including a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship in creative printmaking; a Tamarind Fellowship; the Spanish Government Fellowship in conjunction with an exhibition of American and Spanish art in Madrid, Spain; a Regents' Summer Fellowship in Creative Arts at the University of California; and the Outstanding Contribution to the Arts award from the Orange County Arts Alliance.
Survivors include his life companion, Susanne Nestor, Ashland; a son, Shawn Birdsall Jones, Niantic, Conn.; a daughter, Leah Margaret Jones, Tampa, Fla.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Megan Hart Jones, on May 5, 1987.

Janet M. Somers
Janet M. Somers, 55, of Clackamas, formerly of Medford, died Wednesday, Sept. 22 in Clackamas. A service has been held.

She was born Janet Turner on Dec. 27, 1943, in Durango, Colo. On June 8, 1979, in Medford, she married F. Kelly Somers, who survives.
Mrs. Somers was a 1961 graduate of Medford High School.
She was a real estate broker in Portland.
Mrs. Somers enjoyed skiing, hiking, and vintage car racing.
She was a member of the MGT Club, Sport Car Club of America, and Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors Million Dollar Club.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, David Tipton Somers, Banks; a daughter, Kristin Powers, Canby; a stepson, Jay Somers, Portland; a sister, Meredith Branham, Medford; and four grandchildren.

Marguerite Farnsworth
Marguerite Wesley Farnsworth, 87, of Talent, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 1999) in Talent. No service is planned.
She was born Marguerite Wells on Oct. 3, 1911, in New Jersey. In 1935, in Summit, N.J., she married Gordon Farnsworth, who died in 1986. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1977 from Mill Valley, Calif.
Mrs. Farnsworth completed more than two years of college.
She worked as a children's librarian in Mill Valley.
She enjoyed walking, reading, gardening and swimming.
Mrs. Farnsworth was a member of the Master Gardeners, the Applegate Valley Garden club, and the Rogue Valley Orchid Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Whipp, Jacksonville, and Ann Portals, Santa Ana, Calif.; a sister, Kit Daniels, Ormand Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Hardin E. Smith
The memorial graveside service for Hardin E. Smith, longtime Jackson County Library director, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Paul B. Robinson of Medford Congregational Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Smith, 77, of Central Point, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 1999) at Farmington Square Assisted Living in Medford.
He was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Daisy, Okla.
On Nov. 13, 1969, in Las Vegas, he married Jean Grindle, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in August 1971, from Las Vegas.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.
He was director of the Jackson County Library from 1971 until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Congregational Church, the North Medford Lions Club and Crater Lions Club.
He enjoyed reading, gardening and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Barbara Graham, Central Point; two stepsons, David Walker, Medford, and Mark Walker, Central Point; three sisters, Charlene Crites, Oakland, Opal Sadler, Midwest City, Okla., and Pat Green, Caddo, Okla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Joe Estremado
A chapel service for Joe Estremado will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Central Valley Chapel in Central Point. Bishop Rolen Rosecrans of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate.

Mr. Estremado, 71, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Sept. 26, 1999) at Three Rivers Medical Center, Grants Pass.
He was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Westwood, Calif.
On Dec. 27, 1950, in Reno, Nev., he married Joyce Phelps, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley for 70 years.
Mr. Estremado served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He was the owner and operator of a Gold Hill logging company.
He enjoyed traveling and racing.
Mr. Estremado was a former school board member and was a 50-year member of the Gold Hill Odd Fellows.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Daniel and Antonio, both of Gold Hill; two daughters, Linda Sutton and Juanita Wright, both of Gold Hill; three sisters, Mary Jacks, Romona Foley and Jean Beck, all of Gold Hill; a brother, Jim, Gold Hill; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, 800 S. Front St., Central Point.
Nancy M. Taylor
The funeral Mass for Nancy M. Taylor will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland. The Rev. Brendan McAnerney will officiate. Interment will follow in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mrs. Taylor, 64, of Ashland, died Sunday (Sept. 26, 1999) at her home.
She was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Denver, Colo., a daughter of Dale and Marjorie Morris.
On Aug. 15, 1953, in Richland, Wash., she married Ron Taylor, who survives. She moved to Ashland from Richland in 1964.
Mrs. Taylor attended Central Washington University and Southern Oregon University, studying music and art.
She enjoyed painting and playing the piano.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Stephen, Ashland, Matthew, Las Vegas, and Scott, Seattle; four daughters, Marjorie Winner and Jennifer Golden, both of Medford, Kathleen Buckley, Bandon, and Rebecca Sparks, Hanford, Calif.; a brother, William Maxwell Morris, Seattle; a sister, Sally Ann Potter, Richland; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Peter.
