Carol Ruth Fuller
Carol Ruth Fuller, 62, of Medford, died Oct. 20, 1999, at Rogue Valley Medical Center. The service has been held.
She was born Carol Ramsay on June 29, 1937, in Salinas, Calif.
On Sept. 10, 1960, in Reno, Nev., she married Lee Fuller, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Salinas, Calif., in 1968.
Mrs. Fuller was a homemaker.
She enjoyed the outdoors, travel and trips to the ocean.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Dana Charles, Eugene; two daughters, Cheryl Lee Franklin and Melanie Diane Fuller, both Eugene; a sister, Madge Elizabeth Ramsay, Medford; three brothers, Jack Maurice Fingold, Sacramento, Calif., Donald Alexander Ramsay, Redding, Calif., and David Allen Ramsey, San Jose, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward David Ramsay.

Billy George Howard
The memorial service for Billy George Howard will be at 2 p.m. today in Brookings-Harbor Christian Church. Pastor Wayne Osborne will officiate.
Mr. Howard, 79, of Brookings, formerly of Eagle Point, died Saturday (Oct. 23, 1999) in Brookings.
He was born July 10, 1920, in Jacksonville, a son of George and Mildred Howard. Through his teen years, he spent summers with his parents building the Diamond Lake Resort.
At age 22, Mr. Howard guided many fishermen over the lake, including such celebrities as Andy Divine and President Herbert Hoover.
In 1963, he married Helen Briley, who survives.
Mr. Howard was a farmer. In 1963, he and his wife moved to the Diamond L Ranch in Eagle Point, where they built their ranch house and the first enclosed arena in Jackson County. They also raised Appaloosa horses. They moved to Brookings in 1976.
Mr. Howard enjoyed the outdoors, fly fishing, hunting, and making furniture from horse shoes, rasps and iron.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, William "Buz," Eagle Point; two daughters, Jacquelyn Stephens, Sitka, Alaska, and Glenda Howard, Seattle; a stepson Melvin Porter, Mount Shasta, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Vernon L. Penland
Vernon LeRoy Penland, 73, of Central Point, died Monday (Oct. 25, 1999) in Central Point. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Central Point and was a lifetime Rogue Valley resident.
Mr. Penland was the orchard foreman for Reter Fruit Company.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Penland enjoyed fishing, hunting and swap meets.
Survivors include three daughters, Suzanne Hammons, Central Point, Mary Garber, Salida, Calif., and Patricia Penland, Modesto, Calif.; two sons, George, Drain, and Donald, Patterson, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Louise, in 1996.

Miriam Petit Kirley
The memorial service for Miriam Petit Kirley will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. Pastor John Braund of the First Phoenix Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Kirley, 75, of Medford, died Monday (Oct. 25, 1999) in a foster home in Medford.

She was born Miriam Petit on Nov. 19, 1923, in Austin, Texas.
On June 6, 1966, in Las Vegas, she married Bud Kirley, who preceded her in death. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from San Diego.
Mrs. Kirley was an administrative assistant for the San Diego Padres for 15 years, retiring in 1989. She started her career as a volunteer in the ticket office.
In San Diego, she volunteered with the Padre Booster Club. In the Rogue Valley, she volunteered her time at the Britt Festivals and KSYS public television, and was a member of the Rogue Valley Dabblers.
Mrs. Kirley enjoyed clog dancing, playing the violin and piano, gardening and animals, especially dogs.
Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Hill, Jacksonville; a son, Bob Petit, San Jose, Calif.; a brother, Bob Connelly, Cincinnati; a sister, Vivienne Malone, San Diego; and four grandchildren.

Brandelynn S. Sears
The visitation and book signing for Brandelynn Suzanne Sears will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Miss Sears, 23, died Sunday (Oct. 24, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 15, 1976, in Tucson, Ariz., a daughter of Robert and Shirley Sears. She was a graduate of Phoenix High School, and was pursuing a degree at Southern Oregon University.
Miss Sears worked as a quality assurance assistant for Jackson County Mental Health.
She enjoyed outdoor activities and socializing with family and friends.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Shirley Sears; a brother, Robert Jr.; and her boyfriend, Ryan Stannard.

L.K. `Bud' Jones
Llewellyn Kent "Bud" Jones, 67, of Eagan, Minn., formerly of Medford and Trail, died Monday (Oct. 25, 1999) in St. Paul, Minn. The service was held in Minnesota.

He was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Medford. He graduated from Medford High School in 1950.
Mr. Jones was an orchardist in Eagan, Minn. He was also a retired truck driver.
He was a member of the Lion's Club in Minnesota.
Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-53.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Jones, Eagan, Minn.; two sons, Gregory Llewellyn, Minneapolis, and Douglas Kent, Green Forest, Ark.; a daughter, Denise Beshah, Minneapolis; a brother, Roger A., Medford; a sister, Evelyn Gilpatrick, Coquille; and four grandchildren.

Richard `Rik' Orr
The graveside service for Richard "Rik" Orr will be at 10 a.m. today in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Veterans for Veterans will officiate.
Mr. Orr, 52, of Grants Pass, died Monday (Oct. 25, 1999) at his home.

He was born June 13, 1947, in The Dalles. He went to high school in Coos Bay. He lived in Central Point for four years prior to moving to Grants Pass one year ago.
On Aug. 17, 1999, in Grants Pass, he married Annette Condu, who survives.
Mr. Orr served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mr. Orr enjoyed golf and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Lance Orr, Las Vegas, and Jeremy and Stephen Boatman, both Grants Pass; two daughters, Kari Gant, Portland, and Rina Thill, Denham Springs, La.; his father, Darrell, Coos Bay; his mother, Betty Beale, Central Point; two brothers, Steve and Jerry, both Central Point; a sister, Kim Irwin, Roseburg; and 14 grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a brother, Mike, in 1992.
