Michael Ray Blum
Michael Ray Blum, 52, of Medford, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 1999) of cancer at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held later.

He was born June 21, 1947, in Bremerton, Wash., a son of Neil and Esther Dorothy Blum. He grew up in Marysville, Wash., and graduated from Marysville High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in wood science and technology from the University of Washington in 1969.
On Aug. 15, 1975, in Hamburg, Ark., he married Nancy Stephen, who survives. He moved to Medford in 1976.
Mr. Blum was an understructure contractor for Michael R. Blum Construction in Medford until he became ill in 1998.
After earning the honor of Eagle Scout, he served as the Scout Master of Troop 44 for the Medford Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America, and was instrumental in helping his sons achieve Eagle Scout.
Mr. Blum taught Hunters Education, and enjoyed camping, hiking and birdwatching.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Mike and Jack, both Medford; a daughter, Anne Lois Blum, Medford; his father, Neil, Medford; and a sister, Judy Blum-Anderson, Bellingham, Wash. He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Dorothy Blum.

John Patrick Diskin
John Patrick Diskin, 63, of Scottsburg, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Oct. 16, 1999, at his home. A celebration of life was held Oct. 23.

He was born May 18, 1936, in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Diskin was a certified respiratory therapist specializing in neonatal intensive care babies. He worked at Ashland Community Hospital, Rogue Valley Medical Center and Umpqua Hospital in Scottsburg.
He began his 35-year career in medicine while managing a furniture store in Los Angeles. He studied respiratory therapy and worked nights at Harbor General Hospital.
Early in his career, he developed and patented several techniques which made significant improvements in the care and survival of neonates.
At Rogue Valley Medical Center, he was responsible for starting and training the first neonatal transport team in Oregon, increasing the survival rate dramatically.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Diskin was a prize-winning photographer, and a river guide. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, rafting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Scottsburg; two sons, Jeffrey A., Northridge, Calif., and Jason A., Keauhou, Hawaii; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Watson, White City; two stepsons, Erick Albertson, Portland, and Paul Albertson, in the U.S. Coast Guard; a stepdaughter, Sandra Albertson, in California; two brothers, Joseph, in California, and Michael, in Texas; a sister, Patricia Diskin, in Massachusetts; and six grandchildren.

Dorothy Anne Wood
Dorothy Anne Wood, 79, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born March 29, 1920, in San Francisco, a daughter of Louis Kerrigan and Anne Johnson.
On May 4, 1946, in San Francisco, she married John Francis Wood, who died on Oct. 24, 1999. She moved to Ashland in 1993.
Mrs. Wood was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara J. Knudsen, Ashland, and Jean M. Loya, Fremont, Calif.; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Kerrigan, who died in action during World War II.

Pamela A. Johnson
Pamela Ann Johnson, 59, of Medford, died Monday (Nov. 1, 1999) at her son's home in White City. No service is planned.
She was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Owatonna, Minn., a daughter of Anita and Lucius Johnson. She graduated from Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, Calif., in 1958. She and her family moved to Medford in 1968.
Survivors include her companion, Ken Walrath, Talent; two sons, Toby Womack, White City, and Michael Womack, La Grande; a daughter, Jacqui Walrath, Keizer; a sister, Nita Scharmann-Fallein, Gresham; and nine grandchildren.

Herbert L. Edwards
The funeral for Herbert L. Edwards will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park. The Rev. Joyce DeGraaff of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mr. Edwards, 74, of Medford, died Monday (Nov. 1, 1999) at his home.

He was born June 23, 1925, in Grants Pass. He attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford High School in 1943.
On Aug. 11, 1946, in Medford, he married Yvonne Moore, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley all of his life.
Mr. Edwards managed Weisfield's Jewelry Store in the old Medford Shopping Center for 10 years. He also owned and operated Brophy's Jewelers for 15 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Edwards was a past member of the Central Point Lions Club, Medford Kiwanis Club and the Medford Rogue Rotary. He served actively for 14 years on the Youth Exchange Program, local and district, during which time he and his wife were hosts of two foreign exchange students.
He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed golf and all sports.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Brad, Medford, and Harrison Douglas, Ojai, Calif.; a daughter, Karen Crews, Creswell; a sister, Jeri Offerdal, Yakima, Wash.; two grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Delsman.
Friends may pay their respects from noon to 5 p.m. today at Perl Funeral Services, Medford.
Harold A. Stagg
The memorial service for Harold A. Stagg will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Calvary Church Assembly of God in Jacksonville. Pastor Terry Luttrell will officiate.
Mr. Stagg, 90, of Jacksonville, died Sunday (Oct. 31, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1909, in Talent, a son of Levi A. and Evelyn (Spitzer) Stagg.
On May 27, 1945, in Medford, he married Ruth Yocum, who survives.
Mr. Stagg was a farmer.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Joe and John, both Jacksonville; a daughter, Esther Craven, Ethel, Wash.; and six grandchildren. A brother, LeRoy, preceded him in death.

Dorothy Jean Hearon
The memorial service for Dorothy Jean Hearon will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Allan Jackson will officiate.
Ms. Hearon, 74, of Grants Pass, died Oct. 23, 1999, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Dorothy Jean Tower on May 10, 1925, in Lebanon. She moved to Medford from Klamath Falls in 1964.
Ms. Hearon was a personnel officer for the U.S. Forest Service in the Winema and Rogue River national forests from 1962 until her retirement in 1984.
In 1988, she received a bachelor's degree in humanities from what is now Southern Oregon University.
Ms. Hearon was a past president of the Zonta Club and was a member of the American Association of University Women and Take Off Pounds Sensibly. She was active in the Red Cross from 1949 to 1955.
She enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Tom, Medford, and Edward, Newark, N.J.; and one grandchild.
