Virginia Hosick
The funeral for Virginia Hosick will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hosick, 75, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 14, 1999) at her home.

She was born July 28, 1924, in Ashland, a daughter of Clifford and Bertha Beatrice (Works) Garvin. She graduated from Talent High School in 1942, and lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
On Oct. 2, 1943, in Medford, she married Joseph Hosick, who died in 1978.
Mrs. Hosick was co-owner of Siskiyou Funeral Service, Chapel In The Trees Mortuary from 1959-80.
She was a member of the Elks Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Cliff, Medford; a daughter, Angela Cleveland, Hartford, Conn.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela Thomas and Linda Hosick.

Virgil M. Hulse
The funeral for Virgil Merlin Hulse will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ashland. Pastor David McCoy will officiate. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.
Dr. Hulse, 70, of Ashland, died Saturday (Nov. 13, 1999) at his home.
He was born April 16, 1929, in Portland, a son of Gladys and Virgil Hulse. He was raised in the Napa Valley in California. He received a bachelor's degree from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and a master's degree in public health at Ann Arbor in Michigan. He received a medical degree and a second master's degree in epidemiology at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, Calif.
On April 3, 1947, in Napa, Calif., he married Betty Jane Parks, who survives.
Dr. Hulse practiced medicine in Bakersfield, Calif. before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1971, where he continued to practice medicine. He wrote the book "Bad Cows and Milkgate," and served on the Oprah Winfrey defense team.
He was a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Preventative Medicine. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Delta Omega Honor Societies.
Dr. Hulse was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he enjoyed leading worship.
He enjoyed hiking, playing tennis, and was a ham radio operator.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, James Leland, Ashland; three daughters, Cynthia Louise Ritacca and Heidi Anne Loganbill, both Salem, and Sarah Jane Hulse, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; a brother, Gilbert, Spokane, Wash.; three sisters, Gloria Beckman, Huntington Beach, Calif., Penny Cocking, Whitethorn, Calif., and Pam Lange, Tujunga, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Don; and two sisters.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Hazel Marie Carter
The funeral for Hazel Marie Carter will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Edenton Baptist Church in Edenton, N.C. The Rev. Paul Pridgen will officiate. Interment will be in Beaver Hills Cemetery in Edenton.
Mrs. Carter, 98, of Jacksonville, died Monday (Nov. 15, 1999) at her home.
She was born Hazel Marie Jackson on March 28, 1901, in Elizabeth City, N.C.
In November 1918, in Elizabeth City, N.C., she married Daniel M. Carter, who died in 1959. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 from Edenton, N.C.
Mrs. Carter worked for the Belt-Tyler department store in Edenton.
She was a member of the Edenton Baptist Church for over 50 years, and worked in the church nursery for 10 years. In Medford, she attended the Assembly of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Christopherson, Jacksonville; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Patricia Ilene Lute
Patricia Ilene Lute, 68, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 14, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. The memorial service will be held later.

She was born on May 12, 1931, in Attica, Ind., a daughter of Arthur G. and Catherine (Logsden) Mitchell. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Los Angeles 11 years ago.
Ms. Lute worked in retail sales in craft shops in California. In Medford, she worked for Huff's Crafts for four years.
She was a member of the Clay Street Community Church of God in Ashland.
Ms. Lute enjoyed needlework, especially cross-stitch, crocheting and knitting, along with painting in oils and pastels.
Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ellen Lute and Shari Lute, both Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, John W. Mitchell, Medford; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A brother, Charles Mitchell, died in 1985.

Arthur N. Morrison
Arthur Noble Morrison, 75, of Ashland, died Friday (Nov. 12, 1999) at his home. The memorial service will be held later.

He was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Lancaster, Calif., a son of Harold E. and Helen K. Morrison.
On July 19, 1943, in Richmond, Calif., he married Muriel Yvonne Brisbin, who survives.
He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943-45, when he joined the Brisbin family in Park Motors Corporation in Garberville, Calif.
He enrolled in college in 1960, and received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering in 1963.
Mr. Morrison worked for Pacific Gas and Electric in the hydroelectric division on the Pitt-McCloud Project and Moss Landing Plant for 18 months. He then worked for the town of Corte Madera, Calif., first as city engineer and later as director of public works.
In 1973, he became director of public works for the City/Borough of Juneau, Alaska. He retired in 1978.
Mr. Morrison traveled extensively in Europe, Australia and the United States. He moved to Ashland in 1987.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Patricia Lee Connolly, Medford, and Elizabeth Ann McGuigan, Palo Alto, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Reitz, Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

D. Marie Gilliam
The funeral for D. Marie Gilliam will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Chapel. The cryptside service will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Ms. Gilliam, 72, of Medford, died Monday (Nov. 15, 1999) at her home.

She was born Dorothy Marie Goates on Nov. 19, 1927, in Scotland, Ark. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1965 from Sacramento, Calif.
Ms. Gilliam was a homemaker.
She enjoyed gardening and mushroom picking.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Carroll and Victoria Thomasson, both Medford, and Judy Wedemeyer, Brea, Calif.; two sons, Dan Ledbetter, Anaheim, Calif., and Mark Ledbetter, Riverside, Calif.; three sisters, Marna Konzek, Missoula, Mont., and Wilma Moyer and Ruby Martinez, both Riverside, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Terrie Lee Beare, died in 1991; a sister, Wanda Baxley, died in 1999.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
Linda Joyce Ortman
Linda Joyce Ortman, 49, of Medford, died Monday (Nov. 15, 1999) at Medford Rehabilitation Care Center. No service is planned.
She was born Aug. 7, 1950, in Crescent City, Calif., a daughter of John and Peggy Gaddis. She attended schools in Crescent City, where she graduated from high school in 1968.
On Sept. 28, 1968, in Crescent City, she married David L. Ortman, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Crescent City in 1977.
In the Rogue Valley, Mrs. Gaddis managed various Taco Bells, Subways, and the snack bar at Wal-Mart in Talent.
She enjoyed traveling, reading and sewing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her parents, John and Peggy Gaddis, Crescent City, Calif.; a brother, Ronald Gene Gaddis, Crescent City; and a sister, Wanda Sue Winkelmann, Crescent City. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Allen Gaddis.
