Charles Wahler
The funeral for Charles H. Wahler will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. Don Farnsworth will officiate.
Mr. Wahler, 89, of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 3, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 11, 1910, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
On Feb. 11, 1965, he married Elvira Marotz, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1976.
During World War II, Mr. Wahler worked building ships. He later was a laboratory inspector.
Mr. Wahler was a Mason.
He enjoyed traveling and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Charles Wahler, Long Island, N.Y.; three stepdaughters, Faith Caldwell, Hillsboro, Hope Albertson, Florence, and Letti Ann Christoffersen, Coarsegold, Calif.; a stepson, Gaylon Diederich, San Rafael, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Richard Charles Clarke
Richard Charles Clarke, 53, of Medford, died Monday (Nov. 29, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service was held.

He was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Medford, a son of Charles and Margaret Wymore Clarke. He lived in Oakland and Grants Pass, and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1965. He later moved to Medford.
On Aug. 23, 1983, in Lake Tahoe, Nev., he married Anne Winter, who survives.
Mr. Clarke was a computer programmer with Harry and David. In 1979, he started his own business, Clarke's Backhoe Service.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Cristina Towery, Medford; three stepsons, Dave Hollingsworth, Talent, Scott Hollingsworth, Ashland, and Kyle Hollingsworth, Boston; his mother, Margaret Clarke, Medford; a sister, Carol Keeney, Beaverton; and one grandchild.

Ruby Jane Brown
The funeral for Ruby Jane Brown will be at 1 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. Pastor Pete Slusher of Community Bible Church in Central Point will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Brown, 97, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Dec. 1, 1999) at her home.

She was born Ruby Dodson on July 10, 1902, in New Madra, Mo.
On Dec. 22, 1920, in Blytheville, Ark., she married Homer Brown, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Brown owned and operated a cafe in Central Point in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
she was a past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, a member of the Navy Mothers, the Central Point Grange, the Foresters and the Sewing Club of Central Point.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Gold Hill Christian Church.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Janette Moore, Medford, and Opal Lees, Central Point; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Truman, Noble and Gene; four brothers; one sister; and three grandchildren.

Lawrence `Al' Coulter
The graveside service for Lawrence "Al" Alvin Coulter will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Mike Friendly of the First Baptist Church of Medford will officiate.
Mr. Coulter, 84, of Medford, died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born March 17, 1915, in Dole, a former rail station in Douglas County, a son of Clarence A. and Sadie E. (Childers) Coulter.
On March 9, 1945, in Stevenson, Wash., he married Marguerite Sarah Rulland, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Terra Bella, Calif., in 1970.
Mr. Coulter worked in the timber industry as a log truck driver and timber faller.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Samuel, Kenneth A., and Terry W., all Medford; four daughters, Jeanette Lampshire, Poulsbo, Wash., Margie Laviletta, Redding, Calif., Nola Bell, Port Townsend, Wash., and Joanne Strader, Vaughn, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret Ellen Butler
The memorial service for Margaret Ellen Butler will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Williams Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Robert Heisler will officiate.
Mrs. Butler, 72, of Williams, died Tuesday (Nov. 30, 1999) at her home.

She was born Margaret E. Chedester on June 12, 1927, in Modesto, Calif.
On Aug. 11, 1946, in St. Helena, Calif., she married Kendall Butler, who survives.
Mrs. Butler was a homemaker. She was the family genealogist and organized and participated in family reunions.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Butler enjoyed sewing, crocheting and socializing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Marvin, Madras; a daughter, Rhonda Griswold, Mount Sterling, Utah; two brothers, Harold Chedester, Pollock Pines, Calif., and Ralph Chedester, Kailua Kono, Hawaii; three sisters, Ruth Alameda, Sacramento, Calif., Alice Jenks, Walla Walla, Wash., and Wilma Field, Weiser, Idaho; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Clendenon; and three brothers, Paul, Warren and Dick Chedester.

Steve Groveman
The memorial service for Steve Groveman will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Temple Emek Shalom in Ashland.
Mr. Groveman, 44, of Ashland, died Nov. 22, 1999, at his home.

Adolph R. Strackbein
Adolph Raymond Strackbein, 78, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 28, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. No service is planned.
He was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Paint Rock, Texas.
On Oct. 6, 1946, in Mare Island, Calif., he married Marcella Godfrey, who survives.
Mr. Strackbein was a city building inspector for the City of El Centro in California. He moved to the Rogue Valley from El Centro in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Strackbein was a member of the Pioneer Society of California.
He enjoyed square dancing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Raymond C., Reston, Va., and Douglas, Issaquah, Wash.; a daughter, Marcella Cook, Riverside, Calif.; three sisters, Jessie Jordan and Billie Barker, both Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mary Richardson, Houston; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.
