James Arthur Williams
The funeral for James Arthur Williams will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Chapel. The Rev. John Braund of the First Presbyterian Church, Phoenix, will officiate.
Mr. Williams, 72, of Medford, died Monday (Dec. 20, 1999) in Medford.
He was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Klamath Falls. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1948.
In 1953, in Medford, he married Wynona M. Atkins, who survives.
Mr. Williams retired from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department in 1983 after 20 years of service. He then managed Anodex Anodizing in Medford from 1983 until his retirement in 1993. During the 1950s, he worked for Olson Lawyer Sawmill.
He and his wife were foster parents for 10 years.
Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and reading.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Gwen Craven, White City, Cynthia Williams, Medford, and Teresa Porter, Salem; a son, Daniel J., Hillsboro; his mother, Irene Williams, Portland; a sister, Louise Sears, Portland; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a grandson.

Cecil Harrold Cullen
The graveside service for Cecil Harrold Cullen will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Grants Pass.
Mr. Cullen, 89, of Medford, died Sunday (Dec. 19, 1999) at Hearthstone.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born Dec. 3, 1910, in Greenleaf, Idaho, a son of Walter and Susie H. Cullen. He spent his early life in Nebraska. He moved to Klamath Falls in 1935, where he lived until he retired. He then moved to Ashland and later to Medford.
On Sept. 3, 1948, he married Julia Gigler, who survives.
Mr. Cullen was a heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing and pinochle.
Survivors include a sister, Doris Ash, Klamath Falls. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Bray; and a brother, Forest "Frosty" Cullen.

Peter Fitterer
The memorial Mass for Peter Fitterer will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, Central Point. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Fitterer, 66, of White City, died of cancer Sunday (Dec. 19, 1999) at his home.

He was born March 3, 1933, in New England, N.D.
On Oct. 14, 1953, he married Lorraine Roeder, who survives.
Mr. Fitterer was active in his church and with schools.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.
Mr. Fitterer enjoyed woodworking, gardening, golfing and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Sherwin, Gold Hill, and Quintin, Littleton, Colo.; four daughters, Pam Cach and Valerie Martinson, both Portland, Geri Dalton, Stockton, Calif., and Jolisa Johnson, Chico, Calif.; two brothers, Mike and Eugene; four sisters, Eleanore Fitterer, Lorraine Braun, Mary Ann Bosch, and Margaret Burwick; and 17 grandchildren.

Rodney F. Halstead
The graveside service for Rodney F. Halstead will be at 2 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Chaplain Don Elliot of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1833 will officiate.
Mr. Halstead, 63, of Redding, Calif., formerly of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 15, 1999) in Redding.
He was born Aug. 17, 1936, in Tacoma, Wash., a son of Virgil and Barbara Halstead.
In May 1990, at Shasta Lake, Calif., he married Julie Thomas, who survives. He was a Medford resident for 35 years.
Mr. Halstead was a retired truck driver.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years.
Mr. Halstead was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1833 in Medford.
He enjoyed cards, gardening, fishing and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, LeRoy, Fullerton, Calif., Rusty, in Germany, Richard, stationed in the Army in Germany; a daughter, Kari Pomeroy, Medford; a stepson, Guy Cullen, Chico, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Melinda Merritt, Tri-Cities, Wash., and Melissa Fehlman, Stayton; four brothers, Benny, Atascadero, Calif., Jack, in Hawaii, Les, Olympia, Wash., and Virgil, Rochester, Wash.; a sister, Cookie Fitzner; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Edna McCoy
The graveside service for Edna McCoy will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mrs. McCoy, 94, of Hermiston, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Dec. 18, 1999) in a care center in Hermiston.
She was born Sept. 19, 1905, in Hayward, Calif., a daughter of John and Mary Aple Hilderbrand.
Mrs. McCoy owned and operated Southern Oregon Credit Bureau in Medford for more than 20 years. She was also employed by Big Y for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathi Coleman; a stepdaughter, Pauline Gilford; a sister, Mildred Tofell; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen McCoy; and a brother, John Hilderbrand.

Andy Nordstrom
The funeral for Andrew Casey Nordstrom will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland. Pete Cislo will officiate. The graveside service will follow in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.
Andy, 16, of Ashland, died Saturday (Dec. 18, 1999) at his home.
He was born Nov. 13, 1983, in Tacoma, Wash., a son of Gary and Paula Nordstrom. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Belfair, Wash., in 1984.
He attended Ashland High School.
He was a Cub Scout while he attended Helman Elementary School.
Andy was a history buff and enjoyed discussing current events. He hoped to become a pilot and recently had taken his first flying lesson.
He enjoyed hiking, music and video games.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Paula Nordstrom, Ashland; and a sister, Jessica Nordstrom Hirsh, Ashland.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ashland Funeral Care, 1701 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.
Violet Maxine Jesme
Violet Maxine Jesme, 86, of Medford, died Thursday (Dec. 16, 1999) in Medford. Private inurnment will be in the Eastwood IOOF Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 29, 1913, in Bingham, Utah, a daughter of Ralph C. Winter and Myrl Irene Kirkpatrick.
On April 8, 1936, in Bottineau, N.D., she married Arthur Jesme, who died in 1978.
Mrs. Jesme moved to Sacramento, Calif., from Minnesota in 1953. She attended nursing school in Sacramento from 1954 to 1955, and graduated as a licensed practical nurse. In 1958, she moved to Fortuna, Calif., and then to Ashland in 1960.
Mrs. Jesme worked at the Rogue Valley Manor and at Hearthstone, retiring in 1975. In 1997, she moved to a Medford foster home.
She was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church in Talent.
Survivors include a son, Lee Arthur, Klamath Falls; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Ole, at birth; and by a sister, Vera.
