Jewel Palmer Rutledge

The memorial service for Jewel Palmer Rutledge will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford. The Rev. Liam Carey will officiate.

Mr. Rutledge, 97, of Medford, died Saturday (Dec. 25, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Home, Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul, 2424 N. Pacific Highway, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Sept. 5, 1902, in Wilmar, Minn., a son of Jim and Carolin (Isrealson) Rutledge.

On Aug. 30, 1975, in Santa Ana, Calif., he married Vivian Stranahan Alexander, who died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999).

Mr. Rutledge was a cable splicer for Northwest Bell in Sioux City, Iowa, for 39 years. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Santa Ana, Calif.

Mr. Rutledge was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford.

Survivors include two stepsons, William "Bill" Alexander, Central Point, and Robert L. Alexander, Shady Cove.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Vivian E. Rutledge

The memorial service for Vivian Elizabeth Rutledge will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. Liam Carey of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.

Mrs. Rutledge, 97 of Medford, died Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at Three Fountains Nursing Home, Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul, 2424 N. Pacific Highway, Medford, Or 97501.

She was born Sept. 4, 1902, in Minneapolis, a daughter of William and Ada (Harmer) Stranahan.

On Aug. 30, 1975, in Santa Ana, Calif., Vivian Stranahan Alexander married Jewel Palmer Rutledge, who died Saturday (Dec. 25, 1999). She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Santa Ana, Calif.

Mrs. Rutledge was a homemaker. She also worked as a telephone operator for Northwest Bell Company.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford.

Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" Alexander, Central Point, and Robert L. Alexander, Shady Cove; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Russell H. Berriman

The cryptside service for Russell H. Berriman will be at 2 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Ron McKay of the Ruch Community Bible Church will officiate.

Mr. Berriman, 81, of Central Point, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) in a hospice care center in Roseburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 2700 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR 97470.

He was born July 15, 1918, in Virden, Ill., a son of Job and Mary Berriman. He was a long-time Rogue Valley resident, living in Jacksonville and Central Point.

Mr. Berriman worked with the Jackson County Bridge Crew for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks Lodge and the Oregon State Sheriff's Association.

Mr. Berriman enjoyed fly fishing, gold mining and metal detecting.

Survivors include his wife, Zola, Central Point; a daughter, Carmen Travis-Rogers, Roseburg; three sisters, Clara Graham, Jacksonville, Eva Phillips, Central Point, and Mary Rogers, Crescent City, Calif.; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Joe Berriman.

Arrangements: Wilson's Chapel of the Roses, Roseburg.

William `Bill' Moore

The graveside service for William F. "Bill" Moore will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. John Cihak of St. Anne Catholic Church will officiate. Military honors will be provided by Veterans for Veterans.

Mr. Moore, 68, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Dimmick Campus.

Memorial contributions may be made to College Dreams, c/o Josephine County Mental Health Dept., 714 N.W. A St., Grants Pass, OR 97526.

He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Cambridge, Mass.

In October 1953, in Los Angeles, he married Mary Ann Toman. They later divorced. He lived and worked in Los Angeles for four years. He moved to Grants Pass from Los Angeles in 1956.

In June 1972, in Reno, Nev., he married Darlene Stephens, who survives.

Mr. Moore worked for the J.H. Baxter Co. for 3 1/2 years. He then began a career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1986.

During the Korean War, he enlisted for four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and served 1 1/2 years in Korea, in addition to visiting 39 countries.

Mr. Moore was very active with the Boy Scouts, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks and the Eagles.

He enjoyed golf, sports, reading and animals.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Daniel, Jacksonville, Brian and Andrew, both Grants Pass, and Thomas, Mountain View, Calif.; four daughters, Janie Jones, Grants Pass, Eileen Mast, Prospect, Cathleen Lindquist, Junction City, and Kelly Paulsen, Puyallup, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Slover, Grants Pass, and Karen Miller, Molalla; a stepson, Gregory Malcolm, Grants Pass; a brother, John, Fountain Valley, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. today in Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

James `Mike' McKernie

The memorial Mass for James M. "Mike" McKernie will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Anne Catholic Church, Grants Pass. The Rev. John Cihak will officiate.

Mr. McKernie, 54, of Merlin, died Saturday (Dec. 25, 1999) at his home.

He was born Oct. 9, 1945, in Moline, Ill., a son of Joseph D. and Doris Jane McKernie.

In 1973, in Long Beach, Calif., he married Christine Pluznick, who survives. He moved to Grants Pass in 1994 from Big Bear Lake, Calif.

Mr. McKernie was a route driver for Wonder-Hostess Bakery.

He served in the National Guard from 1965 to 1971.

Mr. McKernie attended St. Anne Catholic Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, James and Shaun, both Merlin; a daughter, Erin McKernie, Merlin; two brothers, Timothy, Cypress, Calif., and Gill, Las Vegas.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Harold Ray Wilson

The funeral for Harold Ray Wilson will be at noon today in Hope Christian Church in Central Point. Interment will be in the Central Point IOOF Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson, 74, of Central Point, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) in Roseburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Christian Church, 325 Oak St., Central Point, OR. 97502.

He was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Hobson, Mont. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1930 from Montana.

On Feb. 1, 1948, in Central Point, he married Peggie Irene Robison, who died in November 1999.

Mr. Wilson was a union carpenter in the Rogue Valley.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Wilson was a member of Hope Christian Church in Central Point.

Survivors include a son, Jim R., Central Point; a daughter, Coni Bell, Dallas, Ore.; a sister, Helen Brown, Renton, Wash., nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John D. Wilson; a grandchild; and 11 siblings.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Charles `Lee' Glosser

The memorial service for Charles "Lee" L. Glosser will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church, Central Point. A private interment is planned.

Mr. Glosser, 77, of Talent, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at his apartment in Alterra-Wynwood in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Gettsburg, S.D., in a home his father had built. He moved to Long Beach, Calif. in 1935.

Mr. Flosser began his working career as a chiropractor. When he took the California State Board for Chiropractors, he finished first in a group of 600 taking the test. He later switched careers and became a certified internal auditor for Jorgensen Steel in Southern

California. After retiring, he moved to the Rogue Valley in 1988.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Flosser was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Gardena, Calif., chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Certified Internal Auditors Association.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Central Point, where he had served as a Deacon and treasurer since 1991.

Mr. Flosser enjoyed reading and cross-stitch.

Survivors include a son, Howard, Central Point; a daughter, Linda Ramstead, Squaw Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ron.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.
