Patricia Lucile Hope
Patricia Lucile Hope, 73, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Los Angeles, a daughter of William J. and Evelyn Logan.
On Oct. 8, 1946, in North Hollywood, Calif., she married Anthony John Hope, who died in 1981. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Portola, Calif.
Mrs. Hope was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of the Plumas Pines Women's Golf Club.
Mrs. Hope enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine P. Hope, Central Point; a son, John, Fresno, Calif.; her mother, Evelyn Baird, Fontana, Calif.; a sister, Mary Jackson, Fontana; and two grandchildren.

Mildred A. Roos
The memorial service for Mildred A. Roos will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Young's Funeral Home in Tigard. Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens, Portland.
Mrs. Roos, 88, of Sherwood, formerly of Phoenix, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) at a foster home in Lake Oswego.
She was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Washtucna, Wash.
Mrs. Roos was an appraisal engineer for the Oregon State Tax Commission.
She was a member of the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Roos enjoyed taking care of bonsai plants and gardening, especially tending roses.
Survivors include a son, William H. Gwin, Sherwood; a daughter, Karen M. Roos, Eagle River, Alaska; a sister, Elsie Sides, Salem; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Gwin, in 1936; and by her second husband Howard Roos, in 1987.

Clarence Peter Olson
The memorial service for Clarence Peter Olson will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. The Rev. Lou Schneider of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Olson, 87, of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) in Hearthstone.

He was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Menomonie, Wis.
On Nov. 30, 1935, in Aitkin, Minn., he married Gertrude LaMona Livingston, who died in 1971. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1950 from Aitkin, Minn.
On Feb. 14, 1975, in Carson City, Nev., he married Alice M. Thornburg, who died in 1996.
Mr. Olson was a builder and carpenter in new and remodeled homes, retiring in 1974.
He was a charter member of the Monarch Lions Club, where he was a past president.
Mr. Olson was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Carr, Medford; three sisters, Agnes Sherman, Albert Lea, Minn., Evelyn Mirau, Hoyt Lakes, Minn., and Irene Backstrom, Aitkin, Minn.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Wayne; two sisters, Esther Newton and Alice Daeffler; and four brothers, Harold, Leo, George and Albert .

Eunice Irene Anderson
The graveside service for Eunice Irene Anderson will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Anderson, 96, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Eunice Jensen on Oct. 9, 1903, in Hancock, Minn.
On June 10, 1938, in Hancock, Minn., she married Edmund A. Anderson, who died in 1955. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1987 from Alhambra, Calif.
Mrs. Anderson assisted her husband in running a small grocery store in Minnesota.
She was active in church activities.
Mrs. Anderson enjoyed her dog, Willie, gardening, traveling, cooking and entertaining.
Survivors include a daughter, Eunice Ann Anderson, Medford. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Patricia Ann Hjorten
Patricia Ann Hjorten, 74, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 1999) at her home. A private service will be held later.

She was born Sept. 16, 1925, in Astoria, a daughter of Otto and Alice (Kearney) Owen.
On Feb. 24, 1946, in Astoria, she married Robert Lawrence Hjorten, who died in 1994. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Astoria in 1954.
Mrs. Hjorten was a bookkeeper for Dr. Ray, and later Dr. Robert Fry, at East Main Dental Clinic, Medford.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Business Women's Association.
Mrs. Hjorten was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing the lottery.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Harbison-Samuelson, Medford; a son, Robert, Medford; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Charles Owen.

Duane Alan VanOrtwick
Duane Alan VanOrtwick, 49, of White City, died Thursday (Dec. 23, 1999) at his home. No service is planned. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 15, 1950, in Medford, a son of Clyde and Margie VanOrtwick. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
Mr. VanOrtwick was a boiler operator in the lumber mills.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Mr. VanOrtwick enjoyed native arts, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Margie A. Shoemaker, White City,; two brothers, Hal, White City, and Glen, North Bend; a half-brother, George Way, Pendleton; a sister, Merna Sharp, North Bend; and his grandmother, Mildred Thigpin, Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde, in 1961.

Mary M. Judy
Mary M. Judy, 92, of Medford, died Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) in Medford. A private service was held. Inurnment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

She was born Mary M. Myers on April 20, 1907, in Arbutus, Mich. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1911.
In July 1958, in Reno, Nev., she married Norman Judy, who died in 1980.
Mrs. Judy was a homemaker.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening and dancing.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. Daley, Rocky Point; and a son, Norman J. Neff, Medford. She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis L. Neff; two brothers, Francis H. and John Myers; two sisters, Isobel Neely and Viola Buell; and one granddaughter.
