Dolly Virgil McCourtney
The graveside service for Dolly Virgil McCourtney will be at 2 p.m. today in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Grants Pass.
Mrs. McCourtney, 94, of Grants Pass, died Thursday (Dec. 30, 1999) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Washington Campus, Grants Pass.
She was born Aug. 3, 1905, in Topeka, Kan.
In 1924, in Topeka, she married James McCourtney, who died in 1983. She moved to Grants Pass from Alameda, Calif., in 1944.
Survivors include two sons, Jim, Grants Pass, and Bob, Pahrump, Nev.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Leslie Ed Butterfuss
Leslie Ed Butterfuss, 46, of Gold Hill and Aumsville, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) in Gold Hill.
He was born Aug. 18, 1953, in Milwaukee.
On Feb. 19, 1978, in Pacific Grove, Calif., he married Danni J. Birran, who survives.
Mr. Butterfuss served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years, retiring as master sergeant.
He was a journeyman electrician for R.L.D. Systems Inc. of Salem.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Andrea Renee Butterfuss, Aumsville; a son, Jamie Lynn Livingston, El Dorado, Kan.; his parents, Clem and Kathleen Butterfuss, Apache Junction, Ariz.; two brothers, Lloyd, Bowdoinham, Maine, and Lance, Yorktown, Va.; and a sister, Lisa Butterfuss, Apache Junction, Ariz.

Orion Gilbert Potter
Orion Gilbert Potter, 89, of Grants Pass, died Thursday (Dec. 30, 1999) at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass. A private service was held.
He was born Feb. 22, 1910, in Pittsfield, Mass., a son of Roy and Lillian Potter.
On Feb. 22, 1952, in San Francisco, he married Frances Wood, who survives. He moved to Grants Pass in 1996 from Millbrae, Calif.
Mr. Potter enjoyed fitness and reading the Bible.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Gary Wood, Vacaville, Calif., and Gordon Potter, Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Diane Lasiter, Grants Pass; a brother, Kenneth, Coquille; a sister, Marion Potter, Coquille; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Louise McCown
Mary Louise McCown, 68, of Glendale, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Glendale. The memorial service was held Monday at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Glendale.
She was born Feb. 3, 1931, in Los Angeles. She moved to Glendale in 1971 from Huntington Beach, Calif.
Mrs. McCown was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
She was a master gardener in Josephine County.
Mrs. McCown enjoyed gardening, bird watching and wildlife rehabilitation.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Freel, Glendale; a brother, Donald Davis, Rosemead, Calif.; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold McCown, in 1990; and a son, Monte McCown.

Edna M. Baker
The graveside service for Edna M. Baker will at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Baker, 81, of Talent, died Saturday (Jan. 1, 2000) at her home.

She was born on March 7, 1918, in Eagle Point, a daughter of David and Janie Smith.
On Aug. 21, 1937, in Medford, she married Bert Baker, who died in 1984.
Mrs. Baker lived in Pinehurst, Idaho, for some time and returned to the Rogue Valley in 1986.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, crocheting, and growing flowers.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Lytle, Talent; two sons, Charles and Francis J., Talent; a half-sister, Myrtle Jean Mitchel, White City; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, twin daughters, three brothers and two sisters.

Louis Richard Davalos
The funeral Mass for Louis Richard "Pachie" Davalos will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. Liam Cary will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Davalos, 57, of Talent, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) at Ashland Community Hospital.

He was born April 13, 1942 in Castroville, Calif. On March 24, 1964, in San Jose, Calif., he married Bonnie Ochoa, who survives.
They moved to the Rogue Valley 11 years ago from San Francisco.
For 30 years, Mr. Davalos was a machinist at the Triple A Shipyard in San Francisco.
He also worked at Bethlehem Shipyard and the Alameda Naval Shipyard, where he repaired naval carriers.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local No. 1414.
He enjoyed music, dancing, his grandchildren and the San Francisco 49ers football team.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Robert, San Francisco, Richard, Phoenix, Ronald Valdez, Talent; two daughters, Monique Valdez and Tracy Davalos, Talent; four brothers, Alego Gonzales, San Bruno, Calif., Lucky Gonzales, San Francisco,
Gabino Gonzales, Grand Prairie, Texas, Francisco Gonzales, Los Banos, Calif.; three sisters, Lena Urbina, San Jose, Calif., Rosie Rodriguez, San Jose, Calif., Eleanor "Mompy" Blea, San Francisco; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie C. Jones, stepfather, Don Jones, a sister, Lucy Griego, and the couple who raised him, Isaac Davalos and Zelmira Garcia.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.
W. Myrtle Calhoun
W. Myrtle Calhoun, 79, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. A private service is planned.

She was born W. Myrtle Corey on July 20, 1920, in Bellingham, Wash.
On Dec. 25, 1939, in Washington, she married David Edwin Calhoun, who died in 1984. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1984 from Cottage Grove.
Mrs. Calhoun was a member of the Eagles and Moose lodges.
She enjoyed ceramics and other crafts, bingo and shopping.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Jones and Nancy Griffin, both Central Point, and Kathleen Dolhar, Tacoma, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael David.
