Lois Arlene Salmans
The chapel service for Lois Arlene Salmans will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford. John Martin will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Salmans, 73, of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 31, 1999) at a foster care home in Phoenix.

She was born Lois Arlene Winey on May 27, 1926, in El Dorado, Kan.
On June 19, 1946, in Wellington, Kan., she married Vernon Salmans, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from El Dorado.
Mrs. Salmans was a homemaker.
She enjoyed music and reading.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Terry, Yorba Linda, Calif., and Ted, Modesto, Calif.; a sister, Melba Prewitt, Cassoday, Kan.; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by two sisters; and two brothers.

Robert H. Thurber
The graveside service for Robert H. Thurber will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Thurber, 74, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 2, 2000) at his home.

He was born May 31, 1925, in Wabeno, Wis. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1960 from Klamath Falls.
Mr. Thurber enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include three sons, Richard, Klamath Falls, Michael, Reedsport, and Kenneth, North Bend; a stepson, Richard Parker, Las Vegas; a brother, Louis, Salem; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1994; and by a son, Larry, in 1998.

Adeline L. Wacker
Adeline L. Wacker, 95, of Medford, formerly of Ashland and Youngtown, Ariz., died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) in Eugene. No service is planned.

She was born May 27, 1904, in Detroit, a daughter of Fredrick and May (Moldenhouer) Schreiber. She attended nursing school.
On Dec. 7, 1942, in Detroit, she married Erich Wacker. They later divorced.
Mrs. Wacker worked in public health as a nursing home administrator.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Medford.
Mrs. Wacker enjoyed quilting and church activities.
Survivors include two sons, Theodore, Talent, and John, Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Grace Serbu, Eugene; a brother, John Schreiber, St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Esther Flanze, Billings, Mont.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Dorothy M. Monroe
The memorial service for Dorothy M. Monroe will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the First United Methodist Church in Medford. Pastor William McDonald will officiate.
Mrs. Monroe, 85, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Medford and Ashland, died Dec. 28, 1999, in Mesa, Ariz., where she had lived for five years.

She was born Jan. 21, 1914, in Zumbrota Township, Minn., a daughter of Wesley and Mae (Phillips) Lamb. The family moved to Ashland in the early 1920s.
On Sept. 4, 1937, in Ashland, she married Harold Monroe, who died in 1994.
Mrs. Monroe enjoyed church activities, visiting family, walking and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three sons, Gregg, Springfield, Dale, Bellingham, Wash., and Lynn, Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Della (Lamb) Weber.

Joseph Staedler
The graveside service for Joseph Staedler will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Pastor Richard A. Abblitt of Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Mr. Staedler, 73, of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) at his home.
He was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Nampa, Idaho. He was raised in Pondosa, Ore., and moved to the Rogue Valley in 1977 from Baker City.
Mr. Staedler owned and operated Pop's Distributorship, a wholesale distributor beverage company, in the Rogue Valley.
He was a member of the Order of the Eagles in Medford and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Baker City. He was a volunteer with the social service agency Community Emergency Resources and Vital Services, known as CERVS.
Mr. Staedler served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Staedler enjoyed animals and was known in his neighborhood for the petting animals he raised, including pygmy goats.
Survivors include his companion, Maxine Pittman, Medford; a son, Carl, Medford; two daughters, Teresa Grant, Medford, and Vicki Scrivner, Grants Pass; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A grandson preceded him in death in 1978.

Hilda A. Figueiredo
The recitation of the Holy Rosary for Hilda A. Figueiredo will be at 5 p.m. today in Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. The Rev. Buckley will officiate. Entombment will be in Lady Family Mausoleum, San Luis Obispo, Calif.
Mrs. Figueiredo, 91, of Ashland, died Friday (Dec. 31, 1999) at her home.

She was born Olindia Adelaide Simas on Nov. 21, 1908, in Fort Jones, Calif., a daughter of John and Mary (White) Simas. She was raised in Cave Landing, Calif., and lived in Avila Beach, Calif., for many years. She moved to Ashland in 1995.
Survivors include four daughters, Antonette Figueiredo, Ashland, Marie Gorman, Avila Beach, Calif., and Virginia Craghil and Emillie Gunsaulus, both San Luis Obispo, Calif.; an adopted daughter, Jaci Hillmann, Ashland; a brother, Manuel Simas, Tracy, Calif.;
five sisters, Isabelle Martelli, and Kena Perry, both Hanford, Calif., Margaret Alberta, Patterson, Calif., Berniece Flowers, Modesto, Calif., and Lucille Everett, Atascadero, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Antonio Figueiredo, who died in 1972; three brothers; two sisters; and one grandchild.

Lewis H. Hall
Lewis H. Hall, 76, of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 31, 1999) in Medford. Private interment will be in Skyline Memorial Park in Portland.

He was born Sept. 7, 1923, in Marcola. He moved to the Rogue Valley seven years ago from Portland.
Mr. Hall was an electrician in his youth. He worked for United Airlines in the baggage department at Portland International Airport for 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and leatherwork.
Survivors include a cousin, Robert Fisher, Central Point.
