Doris E. Johnson
Doris E. Johnson, 84, died Monday, March 21, 2005 at her home in Ashland. A celebration of Doris's life will be held this summer.

She was born Doris E. Baker in Sarles, North Dakota on July 8, 1920. She graduated from Sarles High School and on December 25, 1938 in Sarles, she married Leonard "Red" Johnson. They moved to Ashland in 1949.
Mrs. Johnson worked in food preparation and service for the Ashland School District at Briscoe, Helman and Lincoln Schools.She was a longtime member of the Bellview Grange and Ashland Community Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sports, pinochle, baking treats for her grandchildren, and band concerts in Ashland's Lithia Park.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Bourne of Medford; sons, Dennis Johnson of Vacaville, CA, Larry Johnson and Rick Johnson both of Ashland; sisters, Helen Young of Grants Pass, Vera Heberlein of Crescent City, CA; brothers, Bob Baker of Brookings, OR, Jack Baker of Chesapeake, VA, and Harry Baker of Chico, CA; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Red" Johnson in 1979.

Alan R. Berger
A Memorial Service will be held to remember Alan R. Berger, a long-time Ashland resident, who passed away earlier this year. Those who would like to honor and share his memory are invited to attend on April 5, 2005, 4 p.m. at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4th & "C" Streets, in Ashland, Oregon.
Marjorie E. Lockwood
Marjorie E. Lockwood, 89, formerly of Talent, died Wednesday (March 30, 2005) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Bertha "Betty" Silbowitz
Bertha ("Betty") Silbowitz, died peacefully Sunday, March 27, at age 96, with friends and family around her. Betty was born in Poland in 1908, came to New York City with her parents at age 12, where she grew up and married her husband Solomon.
They retired to Berkeley, CA in 1972 where she remained until moving to Ashland to live with her son in 1998. Betty was a talented Milliner by trade. She loved life and treasured her grandchildren, and always had kind words and good advice for everyone.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy and her two sons, Maurice and Joshua, and son Alfred and his two daughters, Sarah and Deborah. Her husband Solomon died in 1991. Betty was buried beside him at Rolling Hills Memorial Park in El Sobrante, CA on March 30, with friends and family in attendance. Transportation and arrangement were handled by Littwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home of Ashland.
There will be a memorial service for Betty Silbowitz at Noon on Wednesday, April 6, at Havurah Shir Hadash at 185 N. Mountain Ave. in Ashland. A light lunch will be provided.
Louise Patten
Louise Caldwell Patten passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 in Seattle, WA. She attended University of Washington and married Chester Patten in 1941. She was a long-term employee of Goodwill Industries and was Goodwill Worker of the year in 1967.
She is survived by her two children, Joyce Patten of Ashland and Sidney Patten of Seattle, 3 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
A private family service was held. Remembrances may be sent to Seattle Goodwill, 1400 S. Lane St., Seattle, WA. 98144.
Ruth A. Wright
Ruth A. Wright, 91, of Medford, died Monday (April 4, 2005) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Marjorie E. Lockwood
Lifelong Wagner Creek resident, Marjorie E. Lockwood 89, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Providence Medford Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held April 9, 2005 at 1:30 p.m., at Park Street Church of Christ, Ashland. Greg Weston will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Stearns Cemetery, Talent.

Marjorie was born January 26, 1916 in Talent to Herman L. and Leora P. Sommer. She attended Wagner Creek School, and graduated from Ashland High School, boarding in Ashland while attending school. Following high school she married Charles Morrison Lockwood. Together they had one son, Melvin Charles Lockwood, who died at the age of ten on June 6, 1947. Mr. Lockwood died On February 18, 1948. On April 17, 1949 Marjorie married Benjamin Leon Lockwood, Charles' brother. Leon died April 13, 1986 at the family home on Wagner Creek. Marjorie continued to live on Wagner Creek until moving to Medford in 2002, most recently residing at Waterford at Three Fountains.
Marjorie was a homemaker and she enjoyed flower arranging, cake decorating and bowling. She was a member of the Talent Garden Club, the Good Sam Club and the Park Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her brother and his wife, William and Hulda Sommer of Talent; sister, Marie Ropp of Talent; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Sommer, in addition to her first husband Charles, son Melvin. second husband Leon and her parents, Leora and Herman.

Loisan Duncan
The memorial service for Loisan Wilson Duncan will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Ashland. Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon.
Mrs. Duncan was born April 13, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA to Lois and Harry Wilson. She graduated from Perry High School in June of 1941 where she was very interested in Drama and played the lead in the Senior class play "The Late Christopher Bean".
Mrs. Duncan worked for 15 years in the billing department of the Koppers Coal Company in Pittsburgh. In 1956 the family moved to Corona Del Mar, CA. She worked for 32 years at the United California Bank in Corona Del Mar. In 1987, after her marriage to Bruce Duncan, she moved to Talent, Oregon in the Mountain View Estates.
Her interests include reading and the study of the American Civil War (1861- 1865). She has given many American Civil War talks to Genealogical and Historical Societies. Mrs. Duncan has written many full length plays and has produced and directed many of them for church and institutional benefits.

Ruth A. Wright
The memorial service for Ruth Adda Wright will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Mrs. Wright was born April 13, 1913 at Elliott, South Dakota the daughter of Frank and Delilah Warren. She was raised and attended schools in Ashland and was married to Merritt Paris. They lived in Newton, Iowa until 1962 when Mr. Paris died and Ruth returned to Ashland.
On April 2, 1972 at Reno, Nevada she married Marvin Wright and they moved to Yreka, California. Mr. & Mrs. Wright owned Wright Way Mobile Homes where she was the home decorator and designer. In 2001 they moved to Medford.
Mrs. Wright enjoyed music, reading and time with family. While in Ashland she was a member of the Elketts with the Ashland Elks Lodge.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Marvin of Medford are; three sons, Warren Paris of Iowa City, Iowa, Jay Paris of Medford, OR, and Don Paris of Jackson, CA; two brothers, Leonard Warren of Medford and Charles Warren of Oroville, CA; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
