Frank R. Doyel
The memorial service for Frank Raymond Doyel will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the United Methodist Church in Medford. The Rev. William McDonald will officiate.
Mr. Doyel, 71, of Medford, died Dec. 17, 1999, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Madison, S.D., a son of Raymond Elias and Vera (Plaine) Doyel. He received a bachelor's degree in education from Dakota State College, Madison, S.D., and a master's and Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) from the University of Oregon in Eugene.
On July 9, 1955, in Madison, S.D., he married Juanita Jane Timm, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1972 from Eugene.
Mr. Doyel was the retired personnel director for Medford School District 549C.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1952.
Mr. Doyel was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club, the Southern Oregon Duck Club, and the United Methodist Church.
He was an avid golfer.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Tobin, Medford, and Kyle, Franklin, Tenn.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Dean Doyel; and a sister, Margaret Jean Doyel Bidwell.

Elizabeth O. Janky
The memorial service for Elizabeth Oneta Janky will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Liam Cary will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Janky, 75, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2000) in Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She was born Elizabeth Oneta Haynes on July 22, 1924, in Campbell, Texas.
On July 4, 1945, at Big Bear Lake, Calif., she married Bernard "Bud" Janky, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley 20 years ago from Greenville, Texas.
Mrs. Janky was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She enjoyed walking, reading and family gatherings.
Survivors include two sons, Greg, Medford, and Michael, Sutherlin; three daughters, Amber Gundlach, Carlotta, Calif., Kellie Parker, Redding, Calif., and Brenda Janky-Mott, McKinleyville, Calif.; a sister, Freda Hobbs, Greenville, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Vivian Holway Fetter
The memorial service for Vivian Holway Fetter will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Northridge Center, 3737 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. Les Connell, of Northridge Center, will officiate.
Mrs. Fetter, 90, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2000) at her home.

She was born March 8, 1909, in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of John and Eula Holway.
On April 18, 1942, in South Carolina, she married Milo R. Fetter, who died in 1995. She lived in the Rogue Valley for 52 years.
Mrs. Fetter was a waitress.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and fishing, especially in Texas and on the Klamath River in California.
Survivors include two sons, Jack W. Morse, Medford, and Raymond A. Morse, Lake Lamor, Calif.; a daughter, Dona M. Mecham, Talent; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Alice Opal Pettegrew
The funeral for Alice Opal Pettegrew will be at 11 a.m. today in Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Pettegrew, 97, of Shady Cove, died Monday (Jan. 3, 2000) in Medford.
She was born Alice Opal Swearingen on Nov. 13, 1902, in Drain. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1927 from Drain.
On Dec. 1, 1934, in Yreka, Calif., she married Charles F. Pettegrew, who died in 1982.
Mrs. Pettegrew was a homemaker.
She enjoying crocheting, camping, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include a sister, Iva Parks, Shady Cove.

Robert Allen Barth
The memorial service for Robert Allen Barth will be at 1 p.m. today in St. John Lutheran Church in Eagle Point. The Rev. Ronald Norris will officiate. Interment will be in Enterprise Cemetery, Enterprise, Ore.
Mr. Barth, 75, of Shady Cove, died Saturday (Jan. 1, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born July 7, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio.
On Nov. 17, 1945, in Toledo, he married Jeanne A. Rook, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Enterprise in 1989.
Mr. Barth worked in retail auto sales, retiring in 1986.
During World War II, he was a naval aviator and carrier pilot.
Mr. Barth was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Joseph AF & AM Masonic Lodge, and St. John Lutheran Church in Eagle Point.
He enjoyed rock hounding and flying.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Susan Conley, Joseph, Connie Dunham, Enterprise, and Marilyn Vaughn, Kauai, Hawaii; a brother, Ted, Belmont, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Laura Elsie Ethridge
The graveside service for Laura Elsie Mae Ethridge will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Hagedorn will officiate.
Mrs. Ethridge, 77, of Central Point, died Sunday (Jan. 2, 2000) at her home.
She was born Laura Phillips on Feb. 5, 1922, in Shoopman, Ky.
On Sept. 25, 1946, in Reno, Nev., she married Dee Ethridge. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Salem in 1973.
Mrs. Ethridge was a certified nurse's assistant at Providence Medford Medical Center, retiring in 1984. She graduated from high school with honors at the age of 75.
She served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman second class.
Mrs. Ethridge enjoyed oil painting, gardening and writing poetry.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Ethridge, Central Point, Shannon Dee Trulove, Roseburg, and Sharon Elaine Slay, Lakeview; a sister, Ethyl Monroe, Medford; two brothers, Hubert Phillips, Central Point, and Kenneth Phillips, Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Farrell Ethridge, in 1997.

Louis James Slattery
Louis James Slattery, 73, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (Jan. 2, 2000) at his home. A private service was held.
He was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Appleton, Wis.
On July 24, 1953, he married Micaela "Mickey" Lewis, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Slattery taught school for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Alaska for 20 years, and in Arizona at Fort Apache Reservation for five years. He lived in the Murphy area for the last 20 years, where he owned and operated the Garlic Farm, and sold garlic to the Grants Pass and Medford areas.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and his association with the staff at Vintage Suites.
Survivors include a son, Dennis, Ashland; a daughter, Sandra Slattery, Ashland; a brother, Mac, and a sister, Sue Fogltanz, both Manitowoc, Wis.
