Paul Roe Crawley

Paul Roe Crawley, 82, of Ashland, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) in Ashland. His ashes will be scattered on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

He was born July 21, 1917, in Terre Haute, Ind.

On May 10, 1944, in Los Angeles, he married Sarah Grady, who survives.

Mr. Crawley was the president of International Metals in California. He moved to The Rogue Valley 1 1/2 years ago from Pebble Beach, Calif.

During World War II, he was a major in the Army Air Corps. He flew in over 100 missions and received the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was an active member and former president of the Rotary Club in the Los Angeles area, a member of the Los Angeles Country Club, and the Monterey Peninsula Country Club where he was an avid golfer.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Christine Crawley, Ashland, and Kathryn Kenna, San Francisco; a son, Denis, in Hawaii; a brother, Robert, in Arizona; two sisters, Anne Bruskrud and Joan McCarthy, both Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Orval Leroy Shores

The funeral for Orval Leroy Shores will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Mr. Shores, 91, of Medford, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) at Prime Time Retirement Center.

He was born Feb. 9, 1908, in Bethel, Kan. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1912 from Bethel. He attended Central Point Schools, graduating in 1926.

In 1926, in Medford, he married Edith Copinger, who died in 1983.

In 1984, in Ashland, he married Lola V. Boomer, who died in 1995.

Mr. Shores worked for Holloway's Grocery Store before entering the Army. After returning from the service, he owned Oak Grove Market in Medford for six years. He was then hired by Borden Company where he worked until his retirement in the mid-1960s.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as part of MacArthur's Expeditionary Force that returned to the Philippines.

He was a life member of Masonic Warren Lodge No. 10, Jacksonville.

Survivors include two sons, Robert D., Medford, and Gene L., Sequim, Wash.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clare and Blanford Shores.

Morris John Kisling

Morris John Kisling, 78, of Flemingsburg, Ky., formerly of White City, died Jan. 11, 2000, at his home after a brief illness. The funeral was held in Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg, Ky. Pastor Ed Fryman officiated.

He was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Mapleton, Iowa, a son of Walter Irving and Lilly Mae (Morton) Kisling.

Mr. Kisling was a retired mill worker and truck driver. He moved to Kentucky one year ago.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Gardner Kisling, Flemingsburg, Ky.; a daughter, Kathy Roberton, Brewster, Wash.; four sons, Mark Kisling, Walla Walla, Wash., Dennis Schuster, Toledo, Ohio, Randall Schuster, Boston, Ky., and David Schuster, Axtell, Neb.; a sister, Margie Kratz; and 16 grandchildren.

Arrangements: Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, Flemingsburg, Ky.

Gordon Neal Lambert

Gordon Neal Lambert, 47, formerly of Medford, died Jan. 13, 2000, in Aurora, Colo. The funeral was held Jan. 20, in the Denver First Church of the Nazarene. A local memorial service will be held in late spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1280 S. Parker Road, Denver, CO. 80231.

He was born June 14, 1952, in Bellflower, Calif.

On Feb. 26, 1984, in Las Vegas, he married Leta Jean Wells, who survives.

Mr. Lambert was shop manager for Ryder Truck Rental in Medford. In Denver, he was a maintenance coordinator for Budget Rent a Truck.

He enjoyed bass fishing, bingo and social gatherings.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Glenda Smith, Salem; three sons, Michael and Mitchell Lambert, both St. Louis, and Jeremy Smith, Medford; his father, Gordon, Compton, Calif.; two brothers, Rick, Compton, Calif., and David, Los Angeles; a sister, Kathleen Miles, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: AAA Cremation and Funeral Service, Denver, Colo.

Thomas E. Lunan

Thomas E. Lunan, 79, of Medford, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) in Medford. No service is planned. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 14, 1920.

Mr. Lunan served in the U.S. Army from 1939 to 1941.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Josephine M. Owings

The graveside service for Josephine M. Owings will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. The Rev. Liam Carey of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.

Mrs. Owings, 84, of Jacksonville, died Monday (Jan. 24, 2000) in Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 449 South Ivy, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Binghamton, N.Y., a daughter of Tobias and Julia (Rosburough) Hadac. She was raised in an orphanage. She moved to the Rogue Valley from New York in 1944.

On April 14, 1946, in Medford, she married Andrew E. Owings, who died in 1992. They raised their children in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Owings was a homemaker, mill worker, telephone operator, waitress and packinghouse worker. She worked at the Jacksonville Museum until 1986.

She was a long-standing member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Owings enjoyed fishing, gardening, music and oil painting.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Owings, Redlands, Calif., and Richard Theirel, Riddle.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Owings.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Robert `Bob' Freeman

Robert "Bob" March Freeman, 84, of Hornbrook, Calif., formerly of Ashland, died Monday (Jan. 24, 2000) at his home. The memorial service will be held later.

He was born March 13, 1915, in New York City, a son of Erwing and Bertha Marie (Mehne) Freeman.

Mr. Freeman moved to Indianapolis in 1940, where he was founder and president of Hoosier Photo Supply. He sold the business in 1958 and moved to Southern California, where he bought Aerial Map Industries. After retiring in 1983, he bought a home in Ashland and in Copco Lake, Calif.

During World War II, he was a photographic officer of the Caribbean Defense Command, retiring as a captain.

Mr. Freeman enjoyed his Shih Tzu puppy, Chelsea May.

Survivors include his wife, Rita A. Freeman, Hornbrook, Calif.; a daughter, Donna Chilson, Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Joni Coons, Hilton Head, S.C., and Chantelle Isner; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Girdner Funeral Chapel, Yreka, Calif.
