Melvin E. Brandon
The funeral for Melvin E. Brandon will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church in Central Point. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Brandon, 80, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2000) at Hearthstone.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 100 Oak St., Central Point, OR 97502.
He was born June 10, 1919, in Bayview, Idaho. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1962 from Anchorage, Alaska.
On March 5, 1968, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, he married Geneva Beaver, who survives.
Mr. Brandon served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Baptist Church in Central Point.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Kevin, David and Bruce, all Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Alana Fehrenbach, Shady Cove; two stepsons, Fredrick Beaver, Elmira, N.Y., and Donald Beaver, Warrenton, Va.; four stepdaughters, Linda Jameson, Central Point, Patricia Lyons, Red Oak, Okla., Walda Belle Cameron, Otis Orchards, Wash., and Margaret Shunn, Republic, Wash.; a sister, Darleta Reed, Spokane, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin; and a brother, Wes.
Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Louise Faye Franks
The memorial service for Louise Faye Franks will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Lutheran Church chapel in Yuba City, Calif. Pastor Elrod will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sutter Cemetery District in Sutter, Calif.
Mrs. Franks, 64, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 24, 2000) at her home.
She was born June 8, 1935, in Knotts, Mo., a daughter of Lee and Eva Smith. She attended grade school and high school in Marysville, Calif.
On Sept. 23, 1982, in Yuba City, Calif., she married Oscar Franks, who survives. She lived in Yuba City and Marysville before moving to Brookings. She moved to the Rogue Valley 1 1/2 years ago.
Mrs. Franks was a waitress and a property manager for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Karen D. Ware, Medford, Michelle Lake, Sacramento, Calif., and Pat Marcum, Greencastle, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Chris Hudjohn, Portland, and Judy Schies, Gault, Calif.; two brothers; two sisters; and numerous grandchildren.

Margaret Ann Palmer
The graveside service for Margaret Ann Palmer will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Stearns Cemetery in Talent. Pastor Robert Palmer of West Pine Baptist Church in Central Point will officiate.
Mrs. Palmer, 84, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2000) at her home.

She was born May 13, 1915, in Eriton, Pa.
Mrs. Palmer worked at Rockwell International in Du Bois, Pa., for 32 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Du Bois, Pa. She moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago from Du Bois.
Mrs. Palmer enjoyed ballroom dancing and housekeeping.
Survivors include three daughters, Peg Ann Ross, Medford, Shirley I. Defendorf, Riegelwood, N.C., and Beverly J. Johnson, Frederick, Md.; a son, Robert H. Palmer, Rogue River; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Sandra Lynn Jones
The memorial service for Sandra Lynn Jones will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church, 100 Oak St., Central Point. Pastor Damon McCoy will officiate. Inurnment will be in Palisade, Colo.
Ms. Jones, 33, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2000) in an auto accident in Eagle Point.
She was born June 20, 1966, in West Palm Beach, Fla., a daughter of James and Marjorie Holdren. She moved to the Rogue Valley 12 years ago from Palisade, Colo.
Ms. Jones was a welder.
She enjoyed camping, crafts and painting.
Survivors include three sons, David Alan Thate, Stephen Gary Jones and Curtis James Jones, all Medford; her mother and stepfather, Marjorie and Fred Smith, Delta, Utah; her father, James Holdren, Granbury, Texas; a brother, James Holdren Jr., Delta, Utah; two sisters, Susan Cox, Central Point, and Judith Cline, Granbury, Texas; and her grandmother, Dorothy J. Hampton, Palisade, Colo.

James Lee Morgan
The memorial service for James Lee "Jim" Morgan will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Interment will be in June at Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain, N.Y.
Mr. Morgan, 79, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 24, 2000) at his home.

He was born June 26, 1920, in Gouldsboro, Pa., a son of Lee James and Edith (Eldred) Morgan.
On July 5, 1943, he married Jean Gettys of Rouses Point, N.Y., who died in 1965.
In 1969, he married Helen M. Bouyea of Plattsburgh, N.Y., who survives.
Mr. Morgan was an independent electrical contractor until 1974, when he took a supervisory position with Bechtel, Inc. From 1981 to 1984, the Morgans lived in Martina Franca, Italy. He retired from Bechtel in 1984 and moved to Asheville, N.C.
An avid artist since childhood, Mr. Morgan received a bachelor of of fine arts degree from the University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1974. After his retirement, he took up painting professionally and earned a master of fine arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1987.
In Asheville, he organized the Asheville Gallery of Art, a cooperative, and a foreign travel painting workshop that sponsored trips to Italy and Spain. He was also active in the Civitan Club.
After moving to Medford in 1996, he was an active member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon. He won several awards for his art, and his work is held by many private collectors as well as IBM, Westinghouse and other corporations. He was active in Friendship Force in western North Carolina and Southern Oregon and held officer positions in both chapters.
Mr. Morgan served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, James Morgan III, Cambridge, Mass., and Robert Morgan, Seattle; a daughter, Mary Jane Lederman, Underhill, Vt.; two stepdaughters, Laura Benedetti, Ashland, and Jeannette Lang, Duluth, Minn., three stepsons, Donald Bouyea, White Salmon, Wash., John Bouyea, Hillsboro, and Michael Barney, Denver, Colo.; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and William Morgan; a stepson, Alan Bouyea; and a brother, Richard, in 1992.

Lucy Hotchkin Carson
The memorial service for Lucy Hotchkin Carson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Northridge Terrace, 3737 S. Pacific Highway, Medford. Pastor Michael Wing of Medford will officiate.
Mrs. Carson, 99, of Medford, died Wednesday (Jan. 19, 2000) at Hearthstone.
She was born Dec. 14, 1900, in Ravia, Okla., a daughter of Alexander and Jenny Russell Hotchkin.
In 1924, in Yreka, Calif., she married Robert H. Carson Sr., who died in 1966. She moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago from San Francisco.
Mrs. Carson was a bookkeeper in an auto parts store.
She enjoyed sports and reading.
Survivors include a son, Robert H. Carson, Medford; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
