John L. Childers
The memorial service for John L. Childers will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Eagle Point Grange Hall. Vic Cady of Gridley, Colo., will officiate. A potluck will follow the service.
Mr. Childers, 50, of Medford, died Feb. 25, 2000, at Providence Medford Medical Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born March 11, 1949, in Medford and lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
Mr. Childers was an auto mechanic and an amateur inventor.
He enjoyed model airplane building, fishing and auto and small engine repair.
He served in the National Guard.
Survivors include three sons, Sean, Eagle Point, Shane, White City, and Steve, Medford; his parents, John and Frances Childers, White City; two brothers, Donald, Grants Pass, and Ronald, White City; and a sister, Carmen Rogers, Central Point.

Amy Gail Johnston
Amy Gail Johnston, 84, of Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 29, 2000) in Medford. No service is planned. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
She was born July 21, 1915, in Ruch, a daughter of John and Osie (Saltmarsh) Cantrall. She was raised in the Applegate Valley, a descendant of the Cantrall pioneer family, for whom Cantrall-Buckley Park was named. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
On Feb. 17, 1970, in Grants Pass, she married S.L. Johnston, who survives.
Mrs. Johnston was a cook in many local restaurants until retirement.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a brother, Truitt Cantrall, Bend; and a sister, Norma Chrysler, Eugene. She was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett Cantrall.

Janet R. Doran
Janet R. Doran, 89, of Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 29, 2000) at a foster care home. No service is planned.
She was born Janet R. Nathan on March 27, 1910, in Omaha, Neb.
On Dec. 17, 1930, in Omaha, she married Myles Doran, who died in 1964.
Mrs. Doran worked in banking, retiring 22 years ago. She lived in the Rogue Valley until her retirement, when she moved to Poulsbo, Wash. She returned to the Rogue Valley in 1997.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and camping.
Survivors include a daughter, Ailene Crisler, Medford; a son, Robert Doran, Poulsbo, Wash.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Donald Geren
The memorial service for Donald Geren will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel. The Rev. Robert Larsen of Ascension Lutheran Church will officiate. Family and friends will scatter his ashes.
Mr. Geren, 80, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (March 1, 2000) in Medford.

He was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Portland, a son of Walter Frampton and Ada (Robinson) Geren.
On June 7, 1943, in Medford, he married Patricia Dipple, who survives.
He received a bachelor's degree in dairy science from Oregon State University in 1948.
Mr. Geren worked in the dairy industry. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Smith River, Calif. in 1950 and purchased a 160-acre dairy with 50 dairy cows on Agate Road in Eagle Point.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Geren was a charter member of the Eagle Point Lions Club, with perfect attendance from 1951 to 1999. He was also a member of the Medford Elks Club for 47 years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Les, Sandy, Ore., and Steve, Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Donna Johnson, Chugiak, Alaska; three sisters, Dora Palmquist, Silverton, Margaret Shepherd, Roseburg, and Ruth Carran, Longview, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and John; and a sister, Helen Erwert.

Virginia Joan Sharp
Virginia Joan Sharp, 71, of Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 29, 2000) at her home. The memorial service will be held in San Diego.

She was born Virginia Wilson on July 2, 1928, in Hockerville, Okla.
On May 2, 1973, in Palm Springs, Calif., she married Lyle Sharp, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1985 from Los Angeles.
Mrs. Sharp worked in the speciality pack section at Harry and David's for nine years.
She was a member of the Northwest Bird Club.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Richard Torian, in Oklahoma, and Steve and Patrick Torian, in Texas.; a brother, Joel Wilson, in England; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Josephine V. Lowman
Josephine V. Lowman, 87, of Medford, died Sunday (Feb. 27, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. No service is planned. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
She was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Farmington, N.M., a daughter of James and Clara Pipkin.
She married Glen Thomas Lowman, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lowman owned a restaurant at the Greyhound Bus Depot in Las Vegas until her husband retired and they moved to Medford.
She served in the Medical Corps during World War II.
Survivors include her twin brother, Joseph Pipkin, Maroa, Ill. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Sylvia T. Paldhan
Sylvia T. Paldhan, 48, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Medford, died Feb. 14, 2000, in Sacramento. The memorial service was held in Sacramento.
She was born Oct. 27, 1951, in Albuquerque, N.M., a daughter of Arnold and Mable B. Sortland.
Ms. Paldhan moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979, where she worked in various businesses.
She was involved in many volunteer activities and was a student at McGeorge Law School at the time of her death.
Survivors include her father, Arnold Sortland, Butte Falls; a sister, Roberta Barnes, Reno, Nev.; and a brother, Jim Parker, Bend. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mable B. Sortland, in 1988; and a brother, Lee Sortland, in 1994.
