Rose LaDoma

The funeral Mass for Rose LaDoma will be at 3 p.m. today at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, West Covina, Calif.

Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church.

Mrs. LaDoma, 93, of Ashland, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) at Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Crematory & Funeral Home, Ashland.

Walter Taylor Jr.

The graveside service for Walter Taylor Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Ronald Crouse of Central Point Masonic Lodge No. 135 will officiate.

Mr. Taylor, 80, of Central Point, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 691 Murphy Road, Suite 236, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Muldrow, Okla.

On Sept. 30, 1994, in Reno, Nev., he married Helen J. Poynter, who survives.

Mr. Taylor was a high school teacher and school administrator from 1950 to 1976 in Oklahoma and Alaska.

He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, and saw action in Bougainville Island, British Solomon Islands, Guam and Mariana Islands.

Mr. Taylor was a member of the Nile Shriners, Mount Lake Terrace, Wash.; the Scottish Rite, McAlester, Okla.; Moore Lodge No. 539, Moore, Okla.; Midnight Sun Lions Club, Fairbanks, Alaska, where he was past president; Central Point Lions, Crater Lake Eagles, Medford; and the 55-Plus Senior Dance Club.

He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, fishing and RV traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Laura Lotspeich, Talent; two brothers, Charles, McAlester, Okla., and Ted, Caruthers, Calif.; two sisters, Eva Jean Ward, Muskogee, Okla., and Eveyen Bowman, McAlester, Okla.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hillcrest Chapel, Medford.

Myrtle Zimmerman

Myrtle Zimmerman, 99, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) at her home. A private service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, 40 S. Bartlett St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Feb. 25, 1901, in Illinois.

On Aug. 18, 1918, in Illinois, she married Glen F. Zimmerman, who died in 1970.

Mrs. Zimmerman and her husband owned and operated Zimmerman & Sons Mortuary in Forest Park, Ill. She moved to the Rogue Valley in December 1999.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Forest Park, Ill.

Mrs. Zimmerman enjoyed family gatherings.

Survivors include a brother, Schyrl Bokemeier, Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Norval F. Zimmerman, M.D., in 1970.

Virgil Lee

Virgil Lee, 92, of Talent, died Monday (May 8, 2000) at his home. A private service will be held Friday at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Sacramento, Calif.

He was born Nov. 24, 1907, in Beaver Township, Mo., where he was raised.

On May 17, 1935, in Forsyth, Mo., he married Hazel Wolfe, who preceded him in death. They moved to Tillamook in 1936, to Santa Cruz, Calif., in 1938, and then returned to Ava, Mo., where he farmed.

In 1951, they moved to Sacramento, where Mr. Lee worked for S & P Railroad for 30 years, retiring in 1972. He moved to Talent in 1991.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Richard, Talent, and Alvin, Pleasant Grove, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Luke, Susanville, Calif.; two sisters, Dora Dollarhide, Ava, Mo., and Minnie Rule, Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell; three brothers and five sisters.

Ethel Margaret Stone

Ethel Margaret Stone, 83, of Talent, died Saturday (May 6, 2000) at her home following a brief illness. A private memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date.

She was born June 25, 1916, in Boston, a daughter of Harland E. and Margaret E. (Powell) Hall. She was raised and educated in Derry, N.H.

On April 18, 1937, in Dana, Mass., she married Harrison E. Stone, who died in 1939.

Mrs. Stone moved to Talent in 1999 from Newmarket, N.H., to be near her granddaughter, Janett Nichols.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Wright, Derry, N.H.; a son, Duane, Lakeview; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson.

Arrangements: Ousley, Osterman, Huffstutter Funeral Chapel, Lakeview.

Carrie Mary Spencer

Carrie Mary Spencer, 90, of Medford, died Sunday (May 7, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. A private service will be held.

She was born Nov. 19, 1909, in South Bend, Wash., a daughter of William C. and Anna Mary (Johnson) Scott.

On Sept. 1, 1928, in Chehalis, Wash., she married Leonard Spencer, who died in 1981.

Mrs. Spencer was a homemaker. She lived in the Eugene area from 1949 until September 1999, when she moved to Medford.

She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Survivors include a daughter, Audrey DeMott, Central Point; a son, William L., Yuma, Ariz.; a sister, Nelli Calvin, Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Virginia Louise Shrader

The graveside service for Virginia Louise Shrader will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Dale Phipps will officiate.

Mrs. Shrader, 81, of Ashland, died Saturday (May 6, 2000) at Ashland Community Hospital.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Oregon Trail Chapter, 1311 N.W. 21st Ave., Portland, OR 97209.

She was born April 21, 1919, in St. Joseph, Mo.

On May 14, 1955, in Reno, Nev., she married Robert Clarence Shrader, who died in 1994.

Mrs. Shrader worked as a switchboard operator for a wholesale paper company in Pasadena, Calif., for many years. She retired in the early 1960s and moved to Central Point from Highland Park, Calif. In 1977, she moved to Williams, and lived there for 12 years before moving to Grants Pass. She moved to Ashland two years ago from Grants Pass.

She enjoyed animals and spending time with her grandchildren. When she was younger, she enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include a stepson, William Shrader, Medford; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Parsons, Wamic, and Beverly Siahaya, Redlands, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Gertrude Julia Austin

The memorial service for Gertrude Julia Austin will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Trail Christian Fellowship in Shady Cove.

Mrs. Austin, 79, of Eagle Point, died April 19, 2000, at Waterford Three Fountains.

Mrs. Austin, a native of Minnesota, and her husband, Jim, retired to the Rogue Valley in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Farquhar, Eagle Point; and a grandson.

Arrangements: Southern Oregon Cremation Services.
