Robert D. Murphy
The memorial service for Robert D. Murphy will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Kenne Horton of Rogue Valley Christian Church will officiate.
Mr. Murphy, 70, of Central Point, died Monday (May 29, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born April 5, 1930, in Twin Falls, Idaho, a son of Dawson and Marvilla Murphy.
On Feb. 11, 1951, in Stockton, Calif., he married Melva Murphy, who survives.
Mr. Murphy was a carpenter and drywaller for various construction firms in the Portland area. He retired to the Rogue Valley in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Murphy enjoyed family gatherings, woodworking, and restoring furniture, fishing and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Mike, Grants Pass; a daughter, Terri Estes, Central Point; a sister, Gloria Dalke, Grass Valley, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two infant sons; and a sister, Eileen Wolfer.

Bill Acker
The funeral for Milton Ernest "Bill" Acker will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Sunset Vista Funeral Home in Yuma, Ariz. Chaplain Carroll Harkness will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Vista Cemetery.
Mr. Acker, 93, formerly of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 17, 1997) at Yuma Regional Medical Center. His home was in Tacna, Ariz.
He was born July 24, 1904, in Comanche County, Texas. Twelve years later, the family moved to Riddle where he graduated from high school.
On Dec. 24, 1928, he married Zaida Eakin, who survives.
Mr. Acker graduated from the University of Idaho, Moscow, majoring in forestry.
He worked for the U.S. Forest Service on the Umpqua National Forest at Glide, then from 1932 to 1941 was manager of a grocery store in Riddle and operated a dairy and chicken farm. In 1941, he was a timekeeper for the Freeport Sulphur Mining Co. at its
Hanna Nickel Mine in Riddle.
For three years in Portland, he worked for Calyear Motor Sales Co., then transferred to Medford where he managed Calyear's auto parts store until a injury on the job in 1969 forced early retirement.
The Ackers spent winters in Arizona for 21 years before moving to Tacna in 1992.
A 32nd Mason in Scottish Rite, Medford, he was a life member and past master of the lodge in Riddle.
Mr. Acker also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rock hounding.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jay, Medford; two daughters, Joyce Pasley, Tacna, and Betty Love, Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Pauline Ritzman, Chehalis, Wash.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Milton; and a sister, Ethel Band.

Gregory Gene Close
Gregory Gene Close, 56, of Kerby, died Tuesday (Dec. 16, 1997) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born May 4, 1941, in Los Angeles.
Mr. Close lived in Crescent City, Calif., for 40 years before moving to Kerby.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley C. Richcreek, Phoenix; his father, Marion A. Close, Crescent City; a sister, Susan C. Close, Phoenix; and a brother, M. Allan Close, Middletown, Calif.

Mildred Lucile Jett
The funeral for Mildred Lucile Jett will be at 2 p.m. today in the Ashland First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Eileen Dunn of Providence Medford Medical Center Hospice will officiate. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Friends will gather at 4 p.m. at the Idle Wheels Mobile Home Park recreation room, 2252 Table Rock Road, Medford.
Mrs. Jett, 84, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 16, 1997) at her home.

She was born Mildred Hodgen on April 30, 1913, in Sigourney, Iowa.
On June 25, 1937, in Huntington Park, Calif., she married Raymond Edward Jett, who died in 1978. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Maywood, Calif.
Mrs. Jett was a salesperson for Parker Woods in Medford from 1955 to 1965.
She enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Hammond, Medford; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Arthur Bogart
The graveside service for Arthur Bogart will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford. Pastor Stan Johnson of West Main Church of Christ will officiate.
Mr. Bogart, 62, of Medford, died Monday (May 22, 2000) at his home.
He was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Phoenix, a son of Orville and Jemima (Butterfield) Bogart.
In 1994, in Gold Hill, he married Caroline Dobson, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
Mr. Bogart was an equipment operator for Timber Products in Medford for 43 years.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Woodworkers W-261.
Mr. Bogart enjoyed fishing, bow hunting and target shooting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Steven, Medford; a daughter, Sandra Bogart, in Oklahoma; two stepsons, Christopher Napolean, Medford, and Clifford Napolean, Arcata, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Ramona Driggers, Central Point, and Roxanna Westlake, Fort Richardson, Alaska.; a brother, Jerry, Medford; four sisters, Dolly Minor and Opal Keithley, both Medford, a sister, Judy Beck, Anderson Island, Wash., and Vivian Rohrer, Modesto, Calif.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Pierson Bogart in 1989; a brother, Orville R. Jr.; two sisters, Ruby Martindale and Lavora Clark.
Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford.
Ella R. Fuhrer
Ella R. Fuhrer, 96, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (May 23, 2000) at a Grants Pass adult foster care home. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
She was born Aug. 1, 1903, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Fuhrer lived in Rogue River until she moved to Grants Pass in 1970.
Survivors include a niece, Eleanor Brown, Veneta, and a nephew, Earl Matthews, in Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Fuhrer, in 1983.

Letha ‘Lee’ Leicht
The memorial service for Letha "Lee" Josephine Leicht will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford. Pastor Bob Larson will officiate.
Mrs. Leicht, 78, of Medford, died Saturday (May 20, 2000) at her home.

She was born Letha Hesselgrave on Nov. 7, 1921, in Selah, Wash. She graduated from Crater High School in 1939, and from Southern Oregon University and the University of Oregon.
On March 17, 1952, in The Dalles, she married Jake Leicht, who died in 1992.
Mrs. Leicht was a teacher in Klamath Falls, The Dalles and Roseburg schools, where she retired.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and the Rogue Valley Country Club.
Mrs. Leicht was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed golfing, gardening and playing bridge and pinochle.
Survivors include a stepson, Robert Leicht, Stockton, Calif.; a sister, Ina Lotus Nolte, Medford; and two grandchildren.
