Darrell David Best
The memorial service for Darrell David Best will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Redwood Country Church. The Revs. Earl Best and Lester Stephens will officiate.
Mr. Best, 63, of Grants Pass, formerly of Applegate, died Friday (June 9, 2000) in Anchorage, Alaska.

He was born July 10, 1936, in Admire, Kan. He moved with his family from Kansas to Whittier, Calif., in 1936, and to Applegate in 1942. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Washington.
On Dec. 22, 1961, in Sausalito, Calif., he married Mary Louise Partridge, who survives.
Mr. Best was a juvenile counselor in Portland and St. Helens. He moved to Grants Pass in 1969, and became the director of the Josephine County Mental Health Council, and later the director of the Josephine County Drug and Alcohol Council. He was also a social worker with Lovejoy Hospice and he and his wife were joint owners of the Book Stop in Grants Pass. He retired in 1998, but continued to serve as a hearing consultant for the court.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Best enjoyed his family, friends and traveling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Kristin Collins, Lake Oswego, and Jennifer Best, Reseda, Calif.; his father, Glen, Brookings; a brother, Earl, Ruch; a sister, Grace Stephens, Grants Pass; and one granddaughter.

Dorothy D. Frohnmayer
Dorothy Dell Frohnmayer, 90, longtime Medford resident, died Sunday (June 11, 2000) in Salem. A private service will be held. Interment will be in Jacksonville Pioneer Cemetery.

She was born April 29, 1910, in Leaburg, a fourth-generation descendant of Mary Griffin of Eugene, the last survivor of the "Lost Wagon Train, " which crossed the Great Plains to Oregon in 1853. She was also a descendant of Billy Vaughn, who guided wagon trains to Oregon in 1845 and 1847.
She graduated from Eugene High School in 1928, and was a graduate of the University of Oregon.
Mrs. Frohnmayer worked as a teacher, and as a real estate broker. She lived in Medford most of her life.
She was a member of the Rogue Valley Garden Club in Medford and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include two sons, William G., Salem, and Dr. James V., Portland; a daughter, Mary D. Schwidde, Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Capt. Wayne L. Goff, U.S. Coast Guard, retired, Aptos, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William, in 1993.

Robert S. Cournoyer
Robert Sterling Cournoyer, 73, of White City, died Monday (June 12, 2000) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Armour, S.D.
On March 16, 1968, in Grants Pass, he married Beverly Johnston, who survives.
Mr. Cournoyer worked for Rough and Ready Lumber Company in Cave Junction for 27 years. He moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from Cave Junction.
He served in the merchant marine during World War II.
Mr. Cournoyer was a member of the Central Point Christian Fellowship.
He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, family gatherings and duck hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Michael Cournoyer, Eugene, Lee Terrill, Central Point, Gary Altland, Medford, and Forrest Altland, Ashland; numerous grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Iris B. Millard Jr.
Iris B. Millard Jr., 77, of Medford, died Friday (June 2, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service will be held at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Earl Minger of Talent will officiate.

He was born May 23, 1923, in Talent, a son of Iris B. and Alma (Grazier) Millard.
On Sept. 8, 1945, in Medford, he married Irene B. Minger, who survives. He was a lifetime resident of the Rogue Valley.
Mr. Millard was an auto mechanic for Courtesy Motors for 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Millard enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting, camping and spending time with his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Diane Rivera, Medford, Carol Riley and Daunis Hernandez, both Gresham, and Jane Musser, Shingletown, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Irving Glen McKeen
The graveside service for Irving Glen McKeen will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Bishop Larry Doll of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jacksonville Ward, will officiate.
Mr. McKeen, 79, of Medford, died Friday (June 2, 2000) at his home.
He was born March 17, 1921, in Sac City, Iowa. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1956 from Omaha, Neb.
In 1957, in Butte Falls, he married Neva Gilbreath, who died in 1999.
Mr. McKeen worked for Burrill Lumber Co., retiring in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. McKeen had been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1982.
He enjoyed reading.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Bennett, Vancouver, Wash., and Cynthia McKeen, Ashland, Neb.; two stepsons, Jim Gilbreath, Central Point, and Richard Wallace, Salem; a brother, Merton, Canby, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sister.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Charles W. Wakefield
Charles "Chuck" or "C.W." Wesley Wakefield, 90, of Medford, died Friday (June 2, 2000) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born April 1, 1910, in Medford. He graduated from Medford Senior High School and was a lifetime Rogue Valley resident.
On May 15, 1936, in Grants Pass, he married Marion "Manny" Ness, who died in 1972.
Mr. Wakefield was an electrical contractor. He began his career at People’s Electric when he was 15. The company later became Trowbridge & Flynn, then Trowbridge, Electric, then Sims Electric. He retired in 1978, at the age of 68.
He enjoyed family outings into the high country. His favorite spot was Diamond Lake.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan W. Backlund, Vancouver, Wash., and Sally Wakefield, Baraboo, Wis.; and three grandchildren.
