Walter C. ‘Chet’ Ricks Jr.
The graveside service for Walter C. "Chet" Ricks Jr., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Ricks, 76, of Central Point, died Friday (June 9, 2000) at his home.

He was born April 24, 1924, in Medford. He graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1943 and lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
On Dec. 26, 1945, in Reno, Nev., he married LaVelle Mason, who survives.
Mr. Ricks worked for Pacific Northwest Bell, retiring in 1982.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Ricks was a member of the Medford Elks, Telephone Pioneers of America, Communications Workers of America and the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Karyn Mitchell, Medford; a son, James, Eagle River, Alaska; two sisters, Virginia Sibley, Phoenix, and Margaret Corliss, Florence; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Margaret ‘Peggy’ White
The memorial service for Margaret "Peggy" White will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.
Mrs. White, 64, of Central Point, died Saturday (June 10, 2000) at her home.

She was born July 29, 1935, in Montreal, a daughter of Frank and Sarah Deegan.
On June 20, 1980, in Reno, Nev., she married Ed White, who survives. She moved to Oregon in 1980.
Mrs. White was a homemaker.
She enjoyed people, cooking and her dog, Defus.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Debbie Taylor, Vancouver, British Columbia; three brothers, Frankie, Brendan and Kevin Deegan, all Montreal; two sisters, Madeline Deegan Taylor and Kathleen Deegan Osgood, both Montreal; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie and Dave Deegan; and a sister, Joan Deegan Quensnell.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ S. Miller
The celebration of the life of Elizabeth "Betty" S. Miller will be at 7 p.m. today at the Eagles Lodge, 2000 Table Rock Road, Medford.
Mrs. Miller, 48, of Medford, died June 7, 2000 at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born July 9, 1951, in Medford, a daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Pearson) Grochocki. She completed three years of college.
On May 27, 1995, in Reno, Nev., she married Terry J. Miller, who survives.
Mrs. Miller was a rural route carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Phoenix.
She enjoyed fishing, exploring the desert, camping and RV travel.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Clinton Lloyd Wells III, Port Hueneme, Calif.; and a sister, Margaret Grochocki, Salt Lake City.

Ralph Edward Baker
The funeral for Ralph Edward Baker will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Perl Funeral Home, Medford. Pastor Stan Johnson of West Main Church of Christ in Medford will officiate. The graveside service will follow in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Baker, 86, of Medford, died Monday (June 12, 2000) at a local foster home.

He was born Oct. 1, 1913, in Conway, Texas.
On Oct. 22, 1962, in Reno, Nev., he married Mary "Margie" Griffin, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1964 from Klamath Falls.
Mr. Baker was a heavy equipment mechanic with Papé Brothers for 26 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1978.
He enjoyed watching car racing, reading and working puzzles.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Jeri Anderson, Brookings, and Shirlene Builta, El Paso, Texas; a stepdaughter, Wanda Devin, Indianapolis; a stepson, Leroy Jespersen, Springer, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and Elvin; and two sisters, Lillie Thurman and Edith Thompson.

Alice M. Fimmel
Alice M. Fimmel, 95, of Phoenix, died June 7, 2000, at Hearthstone. A private service will be held.

She was born Aug. 10, 1904, in Sommerville, N.J., a daughter of Isaac Lewis and Elizabeth (Cooper) Shepard.
In April 1940, she married Paul Fimmel, who died in 1979.
Mrs. Fimmel and her husband owned and operated the Elbow Restaurant in North Branch N.J. until 1949. She moved to Phoenix in 1990 from Florida, where she had lived for 40 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Fimmel enjoyed traveling and fishing.
Survivors include a daughter, Bernice Rawstern, Phoenix; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Frank S. Phoenix, in 1986; and two sisters.

Martha Hayes Denney
The funeral for Martha Ann Hayes Denney will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Don C. Farnsworth will officiate. The graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Denney, 89, of Jacksonville, died Sunday (June 11, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born July 24, 1910, in Sentinel, Okla., a daughter of William Henry and Ivy Jane (Parsons) Cox. She moved to the Rogue Valley 54 years ago from Santa Rosa, Calif.
Mrs. Denney was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Denney enjoyed church and her family.
Survivors include five sons, Donald and Robert Hayes, both Jacksonville, Calvin Hayes, Talent, Edwin Hayes, Medford, and Norman Hayes, Billings, Mont.; two daughters, LaVerne Denney, Oroville, Calif., and Dorothy Wilcox, Santa Maria, Calif.; a brother, Orval Cox, Oroville, Calif.; a sister, Veda Ybarra, Oroville, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
