Mildred L. Bolz-Allen
Mildred Lillian Bolz-Allen, 95, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, formerly of Ashland and Phoenix, died June 29, 2000, in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. No service is planned.
She was born Aug. 26, 1904 in Hankinson, N.D., a daughter of Richard and Ida Bolz.
Ms. Bolz-Allen was a grade-school teacher with the Phoenix School District. She lived in the Ashland and Phoenix area for 20 years.
Survivors include a son, Terry Allen, Portland; three brothers, Roy and Walter Bolz, both Phoenix, and Sidney Bolz, Salem; two sisters, Violet Archer, Loleta, Calif., and Addie Simmonds, Phoenix. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Bolz; and a sister, Elsie Wright.

Lewis John Schumann
Lewis John Schumann, 75, of Emmett, Idaho, formerly of Medford, died June 30, 2000, in Emmett, Idaho. No service is planned.
He was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Wirt, Okla., a son of Newton Allen and Laura Jane Schumann.
Mr. Schumann lived in Medford for 23 years and was a car salesman with Skinner Buick-Cadillac.
He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jeannie Schumann; three sons, James, Allen and Jay; two daughters, Judy Potter and Wilma Johnson; a brother, Chester Hudson; two sisters, Dell Feasel and Dolly Kester; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild; a sister; and five brothers.

Erna Marion Staum
Erna Marion Staum, 61, of Central Point, died Monday (July 3, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.
She was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Kinderhook, N.Y., a daughter of Joseph and Anna (Heible) Hodina.
On Sept. 3, 1962, in Woodland Hills, Calif., she married Dwayne H. Staum, who survives.
Mrs. Staum was a teacher. She taught in schools in Los Angeles and Thousand Oaks, Calif., retiring in 1997. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Los Angeles in 1997.
She enjoyed painting, gardening and crafts.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a brother, Alfred Hodina, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and a sister, Annelise Trethewey, Owosso, Mich.

Wayne G. Gottfried
Wayne G. Gottfried, 73, of Medford, died Sunday (July 2, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service will be held later.

He was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Falls City, a son of Wallace and Ruby Gottfried.
On Nov. 11, 1948, in Reno, Nev., he married Bette Reames, who died in 1992. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1949.
Mr. Gottfried was a salesman for Budge-McHugh Supply Co. for many years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Gottfried was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1168 in Medford.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and card games.
Survivors include a son, Kent, Medford; a daughter, Virginia Smith, Littleton, Colo.; his mother, Ruby Gottfried, Independence; a sister, Hazel Weaver, Independence; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Gottfried.

Bonnie Bell Poiset
Bonnie Bell Poiset, 60, of Medford, died Monday (July 3, 2000) at a local foster care home. No service is planned.
She was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Mason City, Iowa, a daughter of Sylvester and Alton (Shrinner) Michael.
On June 2, 1957, in Santa Monica, Calif., she married Lawrence Poiset, who died in November 1999. She moved to Oregon in 1994.
Mrs. Poiset was a homemaker.
She enjoyed collecting dolls and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Squillace, Hesperia, Calif.; a sister, Myrna Hicks, Jacksonville; a brother, Ron Michael, Minneapolis; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven M. Poiset.

James P. Rowan
The memorial service for James P. Rowan will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Alan Jackson will officiate.
Mr. Rowan, 82, of Medford, died Wednesday (July 5, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Elwood M. Stansfield
The graveside service for Elwood Marvin Stansfield will be at 11 a.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass.
Mr. Stansfield, 90, of Medford, died Tuesday (July 4, 2000) in Grants Pass.

He was born June 14, 1910, in Northville, S.D.
On Aug. 22, 1931, in Wayne, Neb., he married Ardeth M. Law, who died in 1981. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946.
On June 5, 1982, in Medford, he married Leona Mallams, who survives.
Mr. Stansfield owned and operated S & H Landscaping and Nursery in Central Point.
During World War II, he was a welder in the Portland shipyards.
Mr. Stansfield was a charter member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Central Point.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and raising gladiolas.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Alice Herzberg, Wimer; two sons, Adrian E., Brownsville, and Orlin, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Donna Allender, Fortuna, Calif.; three stepsons, Jerry Mallams, Medford, Duane Mallams, Central Point, and Tom Mallams, . Beatty; a brother, Merriedeth, Grants Pass; a sister, Elsie Sanders, Grants Pass; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, LeOTIS and Keith; and a sister, Gwendolyn Stansfield.
Friends may pay their respects from 8 to 9 a.m. today at Conger-Morris Funeral Home in Medford.
Melvin C. Peters
The graveside service for Melvin C. Peters will be at 2 p.m. today at Scenic Hills Memorial Park.
Mr. Peters, 63, of Ashland, died Sunday (July 2, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Padroni, Colo., a son of Arthur and Delma (Dunham) Peters. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1954 and lived in Ashland all of his adult life.
On April 4, 1998, in Reno, Nev., he married Garron R. Goodwin, who survives.
Mr. Peters retired as a heavy equipment operator with the Oregon Forestry Department.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
Mr. Peters enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and bowling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, DeAnna Hernandez, Medford, and Dawn Erickson, Talent; a stepson, Kevin Goodwin, Portland; a stepdaughter, Sonja Mead, Central Point; a brother, Ernest, Grants Pass; four sisters, Roanna Beagle, Ashland, Bonnie Morgan, Phoenix, Carol Holsapple, Myrtle Creek, and Phyllis Franck, White City; and 12 grandchildren.
