Bernard Charles Soulé
The memorial service for Bernard Charles Soulé will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Valley of the Rogue Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 3625 North River Road, Rogue River. Pastor Tom Fletcher will officiate.
Mr. Soulé, 70, of Gold Hill, died Monday (July 10, 2000) at his home.
He was born May 26, 1930, in Utica, Mich., a son of Bernard Arthur and Mabel (Nightengale) Soulé.
On Nov. 16, 1993, in Bullhead City, Ariz., he married Louise C. Lang, who survives.
Mr. Soulé was a county park custodian in San Bernardino County, Calif., for 10 years, retiring in 1993. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1996 from Twentynine Palms, Calif., and he and his wife were camp hosts at Valley of the Rogue State Park in Gold Hill. In 1999, they received the Outstanding Host of the Year Award from Oregon State Parks.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Soulé was a member of the Valley of the Rogue Chapel Church of the Nazarene in Rogue River.
He enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two stepsons, Lon Cummings, Kalispell, Mont., and Lorry T. Cummings, Apple Valley, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Linda Music, Kalispell, Mont.; eight step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

‘Busch’ Van Den Bosch
The funeral for "Busch" George John Van Den Bosch will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.
Mr. Bosch, 49, of Ashland, died Monday (July 10, 2000) at his home.
He was born Jan. 21, 1951, in Friesland, the Netherlands, a son of John and Patricia Van Den Bosch. He moved to the U.S. with his parents and has lived in the Ashland area since 1976.
On June 24, 1995, in Ashland, he married Lisa F. David, who survives.
Mr. Bosch was a carpenter and builder in Ashland.
He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, horseback riding and spending time with his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include seven children, Jedidiah, Jonathan and Raechel, all Canby, and Jerramie, Michael, Luke and Jackson, all Ashland; his parents, John and Patricia Van Den Bosch, Ashland; two brothers, Martin, Ashland, and Sam, Ontario, Calif.; and two sisters, Janice Burroughs, Bloomfield, Colo., and Patricia Dewitt, Tollison, Ariz.

Melvin Leon Comstock
The memorial reception for Melvin Leon Comstock will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford.
Mr. Comstock, 56, of Medford, died Tuesday (July 11, 2000) in Medford.
He was born July 26, 1943, in Medford, a son of Harry and Lucile Comstock, and lived in the Rogue Valley all of his life.
Survivors include four brothers, Clarence, Don and Carl, all Medford, and Harold, Los Angeles; and a sister, Norma Comstock, San Jose, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lawrence I. ‘Larry’ Taylor
The celebration of the life of Lawrence I. "Larry" Taylor will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eagle Point Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Highway 62.
Mr. Taylor, 69, of Shady Cove, died Friday (July 7, 2000) in Medford.

He was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Bray, Calif. Shortly after, his family moved to Oregon. He lived his entire life in the Rogue Valley.
Mr. Taylor worked in a variety of positions, many in the lumber industry. He also owned his own business at one time. He retired from the Central Point School District in 1994.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. One of his favorite fishing adventures was a trip to Alaska to catch King Salmon.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty Taylor, Shady Cove; a daughter, Glenna Hartman, Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Clinton, Phoenix; and a sister, Frances Grace, Santa Clara, Calif.

Sylvia Berman
Sylvia Berman, 74, of Medford died Tuesday (July 11, 2000) at her home. A private service will be held Friday evening.

She was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and lived most of her life in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mrs. Berman twice won her flight in the Arizona Women’s State Golf Championship. She was also an ace bridge player.
Survivors include her husband, Mack; two sons, Ronald and Richard, and four grandchildren.

John Foster Smith
The memorial service for John Foster Smith will be at 10 a.m. Friday at West Main Church of Christ in Medford. Mr. Smith’s grandson, the Rev. Lupe Mireles, of the Circle City Community Church in Corona, Calif., will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Stearns Cemetery, Talent.
Mr. Smith, 86, of Talent, died Monday (July 10, 2000) at his home.

He was born April 14, 1914, in Lamar, Colo., a son of John and Effie (Benavidez) Smith.
On Sept. 4, 1959, in Las Vegas, he married Barbara (Lane) Foster, who survives.
Mr. Smith worked in heating and air conditioning for Sears in Los Angeles.
The Smiths moved to Talent in 1970, where they owned and operated the Tally Ho Lounge in Talent for five years. Mr. Smith also worked in heating and air conditioning maintenance at the former Villa Royal Health Care Center in Medford.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge No. 944 the Huntington Park Elks Lodge No. 1415, and the Talent Lions Club. He served in various offices in the Elks and Lions Clubs throughout the years.
He was a member of the West Main Church of Christ.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a stepson, Virgil Randall Foster, Molalla; a stepdaughter, Dian Mireles, Lake Villa, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother; a sister; and a stepson.

Floye L. Predoehl
The memorial service for Floye L. Predoehl will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in Rogue River. The Rev. Norman Nibblitt will officiate. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Predoehl, 83, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (July 11, 2000) at Laurel Hill Nursing Center in Grants Pass.
She was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Wayne, Okla.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rogue River.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Withem, Williams; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John ‘Jack’ F. Vaughn
The memorial service for John "Jack" Franklin Vaughn will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 9, at Grace Community Church in Tualatin.
Mr. Vaughn, 76, of Portland, formerly of Medford, died June 25, 2000, in Portland.

He was born July 5, 1923, in Portland. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Grant High School.
Mr. Vaughn was a retail clothing salesman for many years in Medford and Portland. He retired in 1985.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps with the invasion force on Iwo Jima.
Survivors include his wife, LuRee Vaughn, Portland; a son, John, Medford; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary, in 1999.
