Sonny Elder
Sonny Elder, 58, of Williams, died Sunday (July 16, 2000) at his home. A private service will be held.
He was born on June 9, 1942, in Grants Pass, a great-grandson of the Gibson pioneer family that settled Williams Valley. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
Mr. Elder enjoyed his horse, listening to country western music and playing the guitar.
Survivors include three sisters, Norma Moreland, Williams, Wanda Griffith, White City, and Melba Waters, Florence.

Gilbert H. Winget Jr.
The graveside service for Gilbert Harold Winget Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Carmelo Mifsud of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.
Mr. Winget, 58, of Medford, died Friday (July 14, 2000) in Medford.

He was born Jan. 7, 1942, in Delano, Calif., a son of Gilbert and Vera P. (Lindsey) Winget Sr. He moved to the Rogue Valley 21 years ago from San Diego.
Mr. Winget owned and operated TLC Lawn Care for 12 years.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1959-1963.
Mr. Winget enjoyed gardening and antique cars.
Survivors include his wife, Carmela Brockman Winget, Medford; two sons, Timothy and Ken, both El Cajon, Calif.; his mother, Vera Schweizer, Central Point; two brothers, Randy, Central Point, and Ronald, San Jose, Calif.; and a sister, Suzanne Smith, Medford.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.
Delora Demetria Barnes
The memorial service for Delora Demetria Barnes will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Central Valley Chapel. The Rev. Joyce De Graaff will officiate.
Mrs. Barnes, 70, of Central Point, died
She was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Elko, Nev., a daughter of Lyle and Bessie Beeney. She lived in the Rogue Valley for more than 50 years.
On Oct. 23, 1948, in Medford, she married Earl Barnes, who survives.
Mrs. Barnes worked as a homemaker and for Pinnacle Orchards. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medford.
Besides her husband, survivors include three daughters, Christine Williams, Central Point, Barbara Hansen, Olympia, Wash., and Brenda McKelvie, Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Lyle Beeney, Eagle Point; three sisters, Charlotte Beeney, Medford, Marie Kathrein, Eagle Point, and Lena Bruvold, Fort Fraser, B.C.; seven grandchildren and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Ronald Leroy Williams
The memorial service for Ronald Leroy Williams will be held at 2 p.m. today at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Williams, 64, of Central Point, died Thursday (July 13, 2000).
He was born July 25, 1935, in Aurora, Ill. and lived in the Rogue Valley for 11 years.
In October 1999, in Central Point, he married Julia Johnston, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool.
Besides his wife, survivors include four stepsons, Bill Clinkenbeard, Central Point, Leonard Clinkenbeard, Coos Bay, Arthur Clinkenbeard, Wyoming, and Vernon Clinkenbeard, Spokane; two brothers, six sisters and his mother, Hildred Williams, Aurora, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Verly Williams.

Evelyn Marie Allen
Evelyn Marie Allen, 78, of Medford, died Wednesday (July 12, 2000) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Evelyn Scherrer on April 27, 1922, in Cleveland.
On July 14, 1943, in San Bernardino, Calif., she married Elmer L. Allen, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from South Gate, Calif.
Mrs. Allen enjoyed helping people, playing cards, cats and making handmade items.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Danna Kramer, Mission Viejo, Calif.; a son, Glenn Allen, Springfield; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Julius Scherer.

Pete Sparr Johnston
The memorial service for Pete Sparr Johnston will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Medford Friends Church. Pastor Mark Burton will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Johnston, 64, of Central Point, died Thursday (July 13, 2000) at his home.

He was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Medford, a son of Peter Sparr and Hilda Elfreda (Lempke) Johnston.
On Nov. 23, 1957, in Central Point, he married Marilyn Wisely, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley his entire life.
Mr. Johnston owned and operated Pete Johnston Trucking for 30 years, driving a log truck. .
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Gary, Tim, Dennis and Ron, all Central Point; two brothers, LaVern, Medford, and G.W., Grants Pass; three sisters, Blanche Zwan and Betty Palm, both Grants Pass, and Ruth Miller, Yuma, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin.

Edward N. Chatfield Jr.
Edward Nims Chatfield Jr., 81, of Rogue River, died Wednesday (July 12, 2000) at Three Rivers Community Hospital and Health Center, Washington Campus, Grants Pass.
The funeral was held Friday at Hull & Hull Chapel. The Rev. Larry Cranor officiated. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 11, 1918, in Wichita, Kan.
On March 17, 1967, in Los Angeles, he married Laura, who survives.
Mr. Chatfield served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4116 and the Southern Oregon Association of Retired Officers.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Larry Cranor, Valdosta, Ga.; a daughter, Sally Chatfield, St. Augustine, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward N. Chatfield III.
