Maxine N. Hoxie
Maxine N. Hoxie, 88, of Medford, died Friday (July 28, 2000) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. No service is planned. Private inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland.
She was born Nov. 6, 1911, in Lorane, a daughter of Bert and Mamie (Pankey) Nichols. She graduated from Ashland High School.
Her parents had moved as children from Illinois to the Sams Valley area in 1880.
On May 31, 1939, in Stevenson, Wash., she married James L. Hoxie, who preceded her in death. They lived in Portland for many years and returned to Ashland after retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Hoxie was a member of the Portland and Ashland Elkettes.
She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening and collecting elephants.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Margaret Hoxie, Ashland. She was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Nichols; and two sisters, Edna French and Lelia Conwell.

Maxine Janzen
The memorial service for Maxine Janzen will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Trail Christian Fellowship near Shady Cove. Pastor Don Holmes will officiate. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Janzen, 81, of Central Point, died Sunday (July 30, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Maxine Lance on Jan. 12, 1919, in Waterloo, Iowa.
On July 13, 1941, in Las Vegas, she married R. L. "Smitty" Janzen, who died in 1991. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1944 from Reseda, Calif.
Mrs. Janzen and her husband owned and operated Southern Oregon Trophy in Central Point from 1962 until the mid-’70s.
She was a rockhound and a Dodger baseball fan. She enjoyed sewing and traveling.
Survivors include a son, Don Hayes, Central Point; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Joseph St. Michael Orlow
The memorial service for Joseph St. Michael Orlow will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Taylor Road in Central Point. David B. Judd will officiate.
Mr. Orlow, 37, of Central Point, died Friday (July 28, 2000) in the Prospect/Butte Falls area.
He was born Aug. 2, 1962, in Fort Bragg, N.C., a son of William "Bud" and Imogene Orlow. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1968 from North Carolina and attended Prospect High School.
Mr. Orlow was a drywall contractor.
He was a coach for the Table Rock Soccer Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sheri Orlow-Smith, Central Point; two sons, Branden Michael and Tyler Joseph, both Central Point; a stepson, Jeremy Hopper, Central Point; and two brothers, Bill, Klamath Falls, and Mark, Ketchikan, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Jessie Miles Rayburn
The memorial service for Jessie Miles Rayburn will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Applegate Community Church. Pastor Kurt Krowell of Applegate Community Church and Pastor Web Staunton of Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Mrs. Rayburn, 84, of Applegate, died Saturday (July 29, 2000) as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Philip, S.D., a daughter of Frank and Mary (Stoughten) Miles.
On Dec. 24, 1944, in Colorado Springs, Colo., she married Charles W. Rayburn, who died in 1985.
Mrs. Rayburn was a grocery checker at Von’s Market in Camarillo, Calif., retiring in 1980. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Athens, Texas.
She was a volunteer for the Court Appointed Special Advocates program and raised more than 60 foster children.
Mrs. Rayburn was a member of Applegate Community Church.
She enjoyed writing and traveling.
Survivors include a son, Richard, Jacksonville; two daughters, Barbara Mings, Escondido, Calif., and Anita Howarth, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Maxine Gage and Hazel Rice, both Denver; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilmot Miles, in 1988, and Dean Miles, in 1998; and a grandson in 1964.

William Earl DeBoard
The graveside service for William Earl DeBoard will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Malin Community Cemetery in Malin. Pastor Jim Twamly of the Klamath Falls Assembly of God will officiate.
Mr. DeBoard, 90, of Medford, died Sunday (July 30, 2000) at his home.

He was born June 11, 1910, in Hayward, Okla.
On Jan. 6, 1937, in Caddo, Okla., he married Laura Lee Johnson, who survives.
Mr. DeBoard was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Caddo County in Oklahoma. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Oklahoma.
He enjoyed horses, fishing and tinkering.
Mr. DeBoard was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Medford.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Lee DeBoard, Medford. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Clara Bell Fryrear
The graveside service for Clara Bell Fryrear will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford. Pastor C.J. McPhail of Table Rock Fellowship in Medford will officiate.
Mrs. Fryrear, 88, of Medford, died Sunday (July 30, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing Center, where she had lived for the past five years.
She was born Clara Bell Hayhurst on June 29, 1912, in Rising City, Neb.
She married Wayne Morgan, who preceded her in death.
She then married Sterling Fryrear, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fryrear was a self-taught school teacher in Wheatland, Wyo. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1948 from Vancouver, Wash.
In the Rogue Valley, she worked at Parsons Pine Products, Bear Creek Packing and Rogue River Packing.
She was past master of Bellview Grange No. 759, where she was a member of the Barber Shop Quartet. She was also a life member of the Ashland Elks Lodge.
Mrs. Fryrear enjoyed socializing.
Survivors include two sons, Buck Morgan, Medford, and Richard Morgan, Central Point; a daughter, Bonnie Leacock, in Washington; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dick Harris Taylor
Dick Harris Taylor, 85, of Rogue River, died July 19, 2000, in Springfield. Interment was at Eagle Point National Cemetery on July 24.
He was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Victorville, Calif.
On July 30, 1947, in Provo, Utah, he married Anna Mae Patterson, who survives. He moved to Rogue River in 1959 from California.
Mr. Taylor was a carpenter. He retired in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1947.
Mr. Taylor was a member of the Rogue River Veterans of Foreign Wars and Color Guard. As a member, he participated in Rogue River’s Annual Rooster Crow parade.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeos and taking his grandchildren camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, James Hill, Oxaca, Mexico; two daughters, Betty Ann Reed, Eugene, and Linda Williams, Scappoose; a brother, Robert, Anderson, Calif.; a sister, Betty Erickson, Raleigh, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyliss Severson.
