Duane Poff
The memorial service for Duane Poff will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Reston Hotel in Medford. A reception will follow.
Mr. Poff, 61, of Jacksonville, died July 26, 2000, at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born June 7, 1939, in Oakland, Calif.
Mr. Poff worked for Timber Products for 20 years. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
He was a member of the Applegate Christian Fellowship, the Medford Gun Club and the Woodworkers Union.
Mr. Poff enjoyed fishing hunting and hot rods.
Survivors include a son, Randy, Central Point; a daughter, Jill Lane, Medford; and seven grandchildren.

Cynthia K. Thorn-Ruben
Cynthia Kay Thorn-Ruben, 42, of Medford, died Tuesday (Aug. 1, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service will be held later.
She was born Sept. 8, 1957, in Crestview, Fla., the daughter of Donald and Mary Thorn. She moved to Central Point in 1968 and graduated from Crater High School in 1975.
In September 1975, she married John Hallett; they later divorced.
On Sept. 12, 1985, in Gold Hill, she married Harold "Hal" Ruben, who survives.
Mrs. Thorn-Ruben was a waitress at Denny’s Restaurant for 16 years.
She enjoyed playing video games, cards and bowling.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Tiffany Peterson, Talent; a son, Pvt. Daniel Thorn, Fort Eustis, Va.; her parents, Donald and Mary Thorn, Central Point; two brothers, Kelly Thorn, Medford, and Robert Thorn, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and her grandfather, Ernest Graves, Klamath Falls.

Bruce Venneman
The graveside service for Bruce Venneman will be at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Jacksonville Cemetery. Family and friends will officiate.
Mr. Venneman, 59, of Jacksonville, died Saturday (July 29, 2000) at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1940, in Canoga Park, Calif. He attended the University of Southern California.
He married Kelly Prentice, who survives.
Mr. Venneman was a national sales coordinator.
He enjoyed gardening and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Stephen, Eugene; a daughter Staci Venneman, Eugene; a sister, Vivian Shirley, in Arizona; and three grandchildren.

Billie Jean Davis
The memorial service for Billie Jean Davis will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jackson House, 300 Suncrest Road, Talent.
Ms. Davis, 90, of Talent, formerly of Ashland, died Saturday (July 29, 2000) in Ashland.

She was born Jan. 5, 1910, in London, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of William and Henrietta Laskey.
Ms. Davis worked as a model for 10 years for Bon Marche and Meier & Frank in Portland, and for Frederick & Nelson in Seattle. She moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from Portland.
She was a member of the Church of Religious Science.
Ms. Davis enjoyed painting, golf, singing and cats.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Fuller, Ashland, Richard Dash, Sacramento, Calif., and Bruce Dash, Los Gatos, Calif.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Nelson, in 1963; and two brothers, Pal Laskey in 1938, and William "Cy" Laskey in 1973.

John L. Herring
The graveside service for John L. Herring will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Wayne Bell will officiate.
Mr. Herring, 55, of White City, died July 26, 2000, at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 6, 1944, in Richmond, Calif.
Mr. Herring served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He moved to White City from Cave Junction.

Lindy Murray Palin
The graveside service for Lindy Murray Palin will be at 4 p.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Chris Thompson of Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Mr. Palin, 73, of Phoenix, died Monday (July 31, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Sutherland, Neb., a son of Elmer and Mae Ethel (Mason) Palin. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1948 from Hamilton, Mont.
On Dec. 23, 1950, in Reno, Nev., he married Geraldine D. Palin, who died in 1996.
Mr. Palin was a master mechanic for Kaiser Construction Company for 35 years, retiring in 1970.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Palin enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Crites, San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Lindy Pierson, Phoenix; two brothers, Walter, Hillsboro, and Donald, in Idaho; two sisters, Mary, in Idaho, and Elizabeth, Hamilton, Mont.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Marie Holley
The memorial service for Marie Holley will be at 1 p.m. today at her home in Yachats. The local memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mortuary and Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Holley, 72, of Yachats, formerly of Medford, died Monday (July 31, 2000) in Yachats of emphysema.

She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Los Angeles, a daughter of Ed and Anna (Walker) Haislip.
On June 9, 1946, in Pacoima, Calif., she married Edwin S. Holley, who died in 1991.
In 1959, they moved to Medford, where they formed Holley Construction Company. They were builders in the Rogue Valley for 25 years, retiring to Yachats in 1987.
Mrs. Holley was an avid reader. She enjoyed the beach, games and spending time with friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Amorin, Medford, and Cathy DeMoray, Yachats; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Naoma McTevia; and a brother, Raymond Haislip.
