Richard ‘Rich’ D. Gould

Richard "Rich" Delay Gould, 87, of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 7, 2000) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born May 23, 1913, in Mulvane, Kan., a son of Montana Delay and Jenny Sarah (Stephens) Gould.

On Nov. 25, 1944, in San Francisco, he married Evelyn Bashaw, who survives.

Mr. Gould was a carpenter and builder. He moved to Oregon in 1990.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Mr. Gould enjoyed working and building.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gould of Medford.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Rev. H. P. Floyd

The funeral for Rev. H. P. Floyd will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Siskiyou Memorial Park Chapel. The Rev. Dan Ferrell of Greater Rogue Valley Baptist Church will officiate.

Rev. Floyd, 69, of Medford, died Saturday (Aug. 5, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born March 26, 1931, in Walters, Okla., a son of Pink and Lily (Harkins) Floyd. He attended Baptist Bible College in Lynwood, Calif., and Springfield, Mo.

On Dec. 21, 1952, in Los Angeles, he married Wanda Culver, who survives. In 1968, he moved to Redding, Calif., from Los Angeles. He moved to Medford in 1971.

Rev. Floyd was a fundamental Baptist minister. He built the Baptist Church in Anderson Calif., Baptist Bible Fellowship churches, and Victory Baptist in Medford, Rogue River and Central Point. He was also a hyster driver at Cascade Wood Products in White City. He retired in 1991.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, in Vienna, Austria.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping his wife with photography.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Ricky, Central Point, and Randy, in New Mexico; a daughter, Cindy Burnett, in Arizona; three sisters, Lois Lyons, Las Vegas, Beverly Behrman, in Utah, and Darlene Lazzaro, Grants Pass; four brothers, Carl, Clovis, Calif., and Milton, Bob and Vince, all Grants Pass; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister; five brothers; and one grandchild.

Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Carl Anthony Gerken

A celebration of the life of Carl Anthony Gerken will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hawthorne Park Pavilion in Medford.

Mr. Gerken, 32, of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 7, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born March 27, 1968, in Canoga Park, Calif., a son of Robert Paul and Noel Georgette (Bryan) Gerken. He moved to Oregon in 1968.

Mr. Gerken was an auto painter with Lithia Motors.

He enjoyed drag boat racing, dirt biking, restoring cars and off-road four-wheeling.

Survivors include his fianceé, Kathy Barrowcliff, Medford; his parents, Bob and Noel Gerken, Bandon; a brother, Len, Corvallis; and a sister, Electa Tripp, Prineville.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Jennifer Lynn McAllister

Jennifer Lynn McAllister, 27, of Rogue River, died Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center as the result of an automobile accident. The funeral was held Monday. Pastor Walter Mancia officiated. Interment was in Sparlin Cemetery in Williams.

She was born Aug. 30, 1972, in Fresno, Calif. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Grants Pass, where she had lived for five years.

Mrs. McAllister worked with the handicapped.

She was a member of the Rogue River Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mrs. McAllister enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, feeding and watching birds, the outdoors and camping.

Survivors include her husband, Byron, Rogue River; two sons, Guy, Grants Pass, and Ronnie, Rogue River; a daughter Stefany Henderson, Centralia, Wash.; her mother, Sharon Patt, and stepfather, Dale Ripley, Monmouth; her father and stepmother, Richard and Becky Aguirre, Pescadero, Calif.; a sister, Tracey Evans, Salem; a stepbrother, Jeff Gividen, Pescadero, Calif.; her grandparents, Joni Wood, Monmouth; Thelma and Claude McAllister, Grants Pass; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Christian Aguirre.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Ervin B. Hogan

Ervin B. Hogan, 73, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service has been held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Legal Services-Center for Non-Profit, 225 W. Main, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born July 17, 1927, in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. He graduated from Oregon State University and received his law degree from Willamette University. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Bend in 1952.

On Aug. 17, 1968, in Carmel, Calif., he married Eva Hedrick, who survives.

Mr. Hogan began his law practice in Medford in 1952 and was a partner in the law firm of Blackhurst, Hornecher, Hassen and Hogan. He was the city attorney for Jacksonville for 17 years and donated legal assistance to the Rogue Valley over the years.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Hogan was a member of the Jackson County Bar Association.

He enjoyed piloting his Bonanza airplane and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association. He belonged to the American Contract Bridge League, attaining the rank of life master. He played the cello and especially enjoyed playing trombone in informal jazz sessions.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Teresa Hogan, Medford, Jani Hale, Jacksonville, and Anna Richardson, Halfway; three sons, Eric Hogan, Vista, Calif., Christopher Hogan, Astoria, and Sam Richardson, Portland; a brother, Kent, Bend; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Thomas ‘Tom’ E. Jones

Thomas "Tom" Earl Jones, 59, of Medford, died Friday (Aug. 4, 2000) at his home. A private service will be held.

He was born April 15, 1941, in Broken Bow, Okla., a son of Henry and Geneva (Cummings) James. He moved to Oregon in 1947 and attended college for one year.

Mr. James worked in construction.

Survivors include two sons, Brian, Medford, and Mark, Eagle Point; a daughter, Nancy James, Klamath Falls; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Douglas B. Wright

Douglas B. Wright, 81, of Medford, died Aug. 1, 2000 at Three Fountains Nursing and Rehabilitation. A private service was held.

He was born June 5, 1919, in Oakland, Calif.

On June 25, 1943, in Inglewood, Calif., he married Mayme Hindman, who survives.

Mr. Wright was an aerospace engineer and director of flights and environmental testing for North American Aviation/Rockwell in California until his retirement in 1982. He moved to the Rogue Valley three years ago from Palm Desert, Calif.

He was a master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite Masons and a member of the Almalaikah Shriners in Los Angeles.

Mr. Wright enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Dennis, Ashland, and Drew, Las Vegas; a daughter, Debra White, Torrance, Calif.; a brother, Floyd, Las Vegas; a sister, Mary Wyss, Whittier, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
