Stephen Lloyd Waterman
The graveside service for Stephen Lloyd Waterman will be at 11 a.m. today at Canyon City Cemetery in Canyon City.
Mr. Waterman, 52, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 6, 2000) in John Day.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grant Union High School Memorial Fund, c/o Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 South Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
He was born March 29, 1948, in Prairie City, a son of John H. and Irene M. Waterman. He graduated from Grant Union High School in John Day in 1966, and from the University of Oregon in Eugene in 1970. He was an all-state basketball star.
Mr. Waterman was a public affairs officer with the U.S. Forest Service in Medford.
He was a member of the Elks John Day Lodge.
Mr. Waterman was an avid golfer and a lifelong Oregon Ducks fan. He enjoyed his childhood experiences in John Day.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy Waterman, Medford, a son, Eric, Mount Shasta, Calif.; his mother, Irene Waterman, John Day; a brother, Fred, Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John; and a sister, Verna Waterman.

Gene Ronald Johnson
The graveside service for Gene Ronald Johnson will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Dr. David Campbell of Ashland will officiate.
Mr. Johnson, 61, of Medford, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000) at his home.
He was born June 10, 1939, in Egeland, N.D., a son of Axel and Lilly (Haller) Johnson. He attended Egeland High School in Egeland, N.D.
In 1958, in Arizona, he married Sharon Gist; they later divorced. He moved to Medford in 1984 from Rochester, Ind.
On June 11, 1998, in Medford, he married Patricia Wilson, who survives.
Mr. Johnson was the owner of a Volkswagen repair shop, Gene’s VW, in Rochester, Ind., and in Medford. He also owned a gun shop in Central Point for a short time, and raised horses and cattle for many years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a tank service repairman from 1956-1958.
Mr. Johnson was a past commander of American Legion Post No. 36 in Rochester, Ind. In Medford, he was a member of the C.A.S.O. Car Club and the Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed restoring classic cars, hunting and playing cards.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Howard and Steve Johnson, both Rochester, Ind., Rick Johnson, Tippecanoe, Ind., and Wes Wilson, Westfir; three daughters, Jodie Giorgi and Suzi Johnston, both Medford, and Deanne Stults, Rochester, Ind.; six brothers, Robert "Bob" Johnson, Central Point, Laverne Johnson, Coos Bay, Jim and Jerry Johnson, both Rochester, Ind., Walter Petruck, Medford, and Herman Petruck, La Crescenta, Calif.; two sisters, Evelyn Miller, Medford, and Penny Kearns, Tujunga, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point.
Blanche Elizabeth Midkiff
Blanche Elizabeth Midkiff, 80, of Talent, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.

She was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Chicago, a daughter of Benjamin and Virginia (Snell) Halter.
On Feb. 2, 1963, in Carson City, Nev., she married Earl Midkiff, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Midkiff was an assembly worker for General Electric. She moved to the Rogue Valley 30 years ago.
She was a member of the Talent Friends Church.
Mrs. Midkiff enjoyed walking her dog, doing errands for seniors and fishing.
Survivors include a daughter, Patty Commons, Phoenix; a sister, Virginia Crosslen, Lake Tahoe, Nev.; and one grandson.

Lynn Marie Strevel
A gathering of the family and friends of Lynn Marie Strevel will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Old Barn Tavern, 2039 Redwood Ave., Grants Pass.
Mrs. Strevel, 54, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000) at her home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1945, in Chicago, a daughter of Robert and Lillian (Quigley) Hershey. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1983 from South Gate, Calif.
Mrs. Strevel had owned and operated the Old Barn Tavern since 1985.
She enjoyed dogs and other animals.
Survivors include her companion, Bill Deakins, Grants Pass; a daughter, Denise Sullivan, Grants Pass; a son, David, Grants Pass; a sister, Gail Noble, Lakewood, Calif.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hershey, in 1997; and her mother, Lillian Hershey, in 1970.

Dorothy Jane Edwards
The graveside service for Dorothy Jane Edwards will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford.
Mrs. Edwards, 79, of Medford died Wednesday (Aug. 9, 2000) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
She was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Central Point, a daughter of Clifford E. and Eva J. Smith.
In October, 1936, in Medford, she married George M. Edwards, who survives. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
Mrs. Edwards was a supervisor at Pinnacle Packing Company, and then at Crystal Springs Packing Company for 40 years.
She enjoyed bowling and swimming.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Robert, Portland; a daughter, Barbara Bobbett, Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Jack Smith; and a sister, Zadie Obenchain.

Wilda E. Carr
The memorial service for Wilda E. Carr will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rogue Valley Christian Church. The Rev. Kenne Horton will officiate.
Mrs. Carr, 85, of Central Point, died Sunday (Aug. 6, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 3, 1915, in Phoenix, a daughter of Edward and Emily (Stevens) Hall.
On Jan. 18, 1935, in Crescent City, Calif., she married Walter Carr, who died in 1986.
Mrs. Carr was a homemaker. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
She was a Rogue Valley Medical Center Women’s Auxiliary "pink lady" for 25 years.
Mrs. Carr enjoyed outdoor activities, bird-watching, travel and people-watching.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth, Boring; a daughter Sally Carr, Central Point; two brothers, Irving Hall, Medford, and Leland Hall, White City; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Hall; and a sister, Veva Haas.

Lorraine Agnes McGuire
The memorial service for Lorraine Agnes McGuire will be at 2 p.m. Friday at her home.
Mrs. McGuire, 88, of White City, died July 31, 2000 at her home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Chicago, a daughter of Samuel and Frances Van Beveren.
On Sept. 2, 1933, in Chicago, she married James McGuire, who died in 1972. She moved to the Rogue Valley 1½ years ago from Newbury Park, Calif.
Mrs. McGuire enjoyed listening to music and books on tape.
Survivors include three sons, Laurence, White City, David, Thousand Oaks, Calif., and James, Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
