Edith Fern Caldwell
Edith Fern Caldwell, 84, of Dallas, Ore., formerly of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 13, 2000) of a heart attack at Dallas Community Hospital. A private service will be held later.
She was born May 23, 1916, in Shoshone, Idaho. She graduated from Nampa High School in Idaho in 1934.
Ms. Caldwell was a homemaker. She moved to Medford in 1947 from Idaho and lived here for 20 years. She then moved to Salem where she had lived since.
She enjoyed square dancing and bowling.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Westfall, Amity; a sister, Norma Morris, Boise, Idaho; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Roland Sturdevant
The graveside service for Roland Sturdevant will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Scenic Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Ashland. The Rev. David Campbell will officiate.
Mr. Sturdevant, 53, of Ashland, died Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) in Moraga, Calif.
He was born Aug. 14, 1946, in Pasadena, Calif. He attended Colorado State University and the University of Michigan.
Mr. Sturdevant was a controller for Bechtel Group in San Francisco.
He enjoyed skiing, fly fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife, Evern, Ashland; and two sons, Aaron, Ashland, and Chris, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Orlin Hovet
Orlin Hovet, 81, of Williamsport, Pa., formerly of Medford and San Jose, Calif., died July 20, 2000, in Williamsport, Pa. No service is planned.
He was born in 1918 in North Dakota.
He married Minne Kayser, who died in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Kellogg, Williamsport, Pa.; a brother, Richard, in Iowa; three sisters, Ruby Latvala, Central Point, and Laverne Murch and Margaret Rohman, both North Dakota; and two grandchildren.

Luella Lee Anselm
Luella Lee Anselm, 79, of Medford, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing and Rehabilitation. No service is planned.
She was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Eagle Point, a daughter of Frank and Ethel Haselton.
Mrs. Anselm was a homemaker. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Jenkins, Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Dorothy Courier, Central Point; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Anselm.
Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.
Nell Marie Lewis
The memorial service for Nell Marie Lewis will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Ashland. Private interment will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Mrs. Lewis, 87, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 2000) at Green Valley Rehabilitation Health Center in Eugene.
She was born April 14, 1913, in Ashland, the only child of Marie E. and Collins J. Perrine. She graduated from Ashland High School and Willamette University.
On Aug. 17, 1941, in Portland, she married Herbert A. Lewis, who died in 1993.
Mrs. Lewis taught high school in Rogue River before her marriage.
She was an active member of the Fortnightly Club and PEO. She was selected as Woman of the Year in 1958 by American Association of University Women in Ashland. She also helped her husband with his debate coach efforts at Ashland High School and kept track of his students.
Survivors include her daughter, Trudee Lewis, Napa, Calif.; a son, Jim, Springfield; and three grandchildren.

Charles ‘Rusty’ Scott
Charles Russell "Rusty" Scott, 60, of Butte Falls, died Wednesday (Aug. 16, 2000) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. No service is planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Medford and lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
Mr. Scott worked as a woodcutter for several companies.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Scott enjoyed reading and spending time with his friends.
Survivors include a sister, Leitha Trefren, Medford. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Deborah Marie Langberg
The memorial service for Deborah Marie Langberg will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. Pastor Don Hildebrand will officiate.
Ms. Langberg, 36, of Medford, died Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) in Medford.
She was born Nov. 30, 1963, in Reno, Nev., a daughter of Robert D. and Sandra (Dildine) Langberg. She moved to the Rogue Valley 33 years ago from Reno, Nev.
Ms. Langberg enjoyed dancing and the outdoors.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Langberg, Medford; a daughter, JoAnna Langberg, Medford; her mother, Sandra Langberg, Medford; her father and stepmother Robert D. and Ann Langberg, Medford; a sister, Paula Langberg, Medford; a brother, Michael Langberg, Medford; and her grandparents, Dave and Luilla Langberg, Sparks, Nev.

Nida V. Javier
The funeral for Nida V. Javier, formerly Nida Lewis, will be at 8 p.m. today at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, in Naperville, Ill. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Wichita, Kan.
Ms. Javier, 56, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 14, 2000) at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 767 Fifth Ave., 40th Floor, New York City, N.Y. 10153.
She was born Aug. 3, 1944, in Manila, Philippines, a daughter of Angel and Juliana (Vinluan) Javier. She lived in Medford from 1967-1985.
Ms. Javier managed Nida’s Beauty Shop in Medford from 1967 -1985, when she moved to Wichita, Kan. She was a longtime resident of Bolingbrook, Ill., where she managed Nidamar Salon from 1987-1998. Since 1998, she had worked as a hair designer for J C Penney Hair Salon in the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Ill.
She was a member of the Filipino Friendship Club since 1989.
Ms. Javier attended Naperville Baptist Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and dancing, especially swing dancing.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie Weaver, Medford, and Donna Stewart, Aurora, Ill.; a son, Kevin Lewis, Arlington Heights, Ill.; seven sisters, Lita Changcoco, Deli Hostetter, Tessie Saghi, Mila Buchanan, Betty Kondo, Cecilia Kantor, and Jean Javier; four brothers, Ignacio Javier, Steve Javier, Mario Javier, and Willie Javier.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angel and Juliana Javier.
