Lillie Arlene LaRosa
The memorial service for Lillie Arlene LaRosa will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Eagle Point Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Charlie Marsolini will officiate. The graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. LaRosa, 60, of Shady Cove, died Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2000) at her home.

She was born Sept. 5, 1940, in Dale, Ark., a daughter of Roscoe Arvest and Lily Mitchell Sparks.
On April 25, 1970, in Sunnyvale, Calif., she married Anthony LaRosa, who died in June 2000. She moved to the Rogue Valley 10 years ago from Red Bluff, Calif.
Mrs. LaRosa was an administrative assistant for the Walker Study Center in Shady Cove. Later, she worked as an executive secretary for the City of Central Point for several years.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and the coast.
Survivors include a son, Anthony "Nino, " Shady Cove; three daughters, Andrea LaRosa, Shady Cove, Antonette Kistler, Roseville, Calif., and Marietta LaRosa, Fair Oaks, Calif.; two brothers, Roscoe Alfred Sparks, Antioch, Calif., and L.J. Sparks, Trona, Calif.; three sisters, Ruby Belle Weatherby, Mesa, Ariz., and Jose Laverne Long and Eula May Watson, both Bakersfield, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Alton ‘Crickett’ Michael
Alton "Crickett" Michael, 85, of Medford, died Wednesday (Sept. 6, 2000) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Alton Shrinner on Nov. 19, 1914, in Blue Rapids, Kan.
In 1937, in Carroll, Iowa, she married Sylvester Michael, who died in 1999. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Ojai, Calif.
Mrs. Michael enjoyed fishing, traveling and reading.
Survivors include a daughter, Myrna Hicks, Jacksonville; a son, Ronald Lee, Burnsville, Minn.; a sister, Norma Dieriks, Yuma, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Poiset in July 2000.

Alberta Harvey Boardman
Alberta Lillian Harvey Boardman, 92, of Medford, died Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2000) at her home. A celebration of life will be held later.

She was born Sept. 9, 1907, in Medford, a daughter of Homer and Lillian (Weaver) Harvey. She lived most of her life in the Medford area.
Mrs. Boardman worked as a welder in the shipyards at Van Port near Portland during World War II. After the war, she returned to Medford where she worked first for M & M Department Store, and then as the housewares department manager at Hubbard Brothers Hardware for many years, retiring in 1973.
She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Medford, where her parents were charter members.
Survivors include three sons, Harvey, Denver, Jack, Tigard, and Albert, Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Susanne Boardman Hueners, Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas A. Dykes Jr.
The memorial service for Thomas A. Dykes Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Scantlin’s Brookings Chapel, No. 2 Ross Road, Brookings. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Dykes, 73, of Crescent City, Calif., formerly of Medford, died Sunday (Sept. 3, 2000) in Crescent City.
He was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Honeygrove, Texas, a son of Thomas and Monie (Quells) Dykes. He was raised and educated in Honeygrove, Texas.
In 1947, in Central Point, he married Lois Alice McManama, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Dykes was a logger and trucker in the Southern Oregon area, retiring in Medford in 1986. He moved to Brookings in 1998.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
Mr. Dykes was a member of Brookings Elks Lodge No. 1934 and a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Port Orford.
He enjoyed gardening, and working on small motors and trucks.
Survivors include a son, Thomas, Brookings; a daughter, Marilen Zuppe, Central Point; three half-brothers, Allen Clyde and Bob, all in Texas; a sister, Lena Shaw, Medford; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Rodney Brasen Miller
Rodney Brasen Miller, 78, of Medford, died Wednesday (Sept. 6, 2000) at his home. A private service was held.

He was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Seattle. He moved to Medford 45 years ago from Kelso, Wash.
Mr. Miller worked for Linnigers Construction/LTM until his retirement.
He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Miller was on the Arbitration Board of Oregon.
He was an avid fisherman, including offshore fishing, and enjoyed anything nautical.
Survivors include three sons, John B., Ashland, Rodney Greg, Umpqua, and Thomas P., Greeley, Colo.; four daughters, Merry L. Sullivan, Grants Pass, Jean E. Thomas, Greenbank, Wash., Pamela R. Lincoln, Guilford, Conn., and Lisa A. Miller, Billings, Mont.; and seven grandchildren.

Ricky J. McElmurry
The funeral mass for Ricky Joe McElmurry was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Anchorage, Alaska.
Mr. McElmurry, 48, of Anchorage, formerly of Medford, died Monday, (Oct. 9, 2000) in Anchorage of cancer.
He attended high school in Prospect and Central Point. He is a 1970 graduate of Prospect High School.
Harry R. LaFever
The graveside service for Harry R. LaFever will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Central Point. Chaplain John Braund of Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice will officiate at both services.
Mr. LaFever, 82, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2000) at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1918, in Kelso, Wash., a son of George and Philena (Caron) LaFever.
On Nov. 14, 1943, in Longview, Wash., he married Helen Thuma, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1957 from Kelso, Wash.
Mr. LaFever worked for a lumber mill as head sawfiler.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. LaFever was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Central Point.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Larry, Central Point, and David, Corvallis; two daughters, Donna Chandler, and Delores LaFever, both Central Point; a brother, Clyde LaFever, Medford; a sister, June Ham, Kelso, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, George and Roy; and a sister, Doris Harlan.
