Roland C. Lindsay
The memorial service for Roland C. Lindsay will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Medford. The Rev. Joyce DeGraaff of the First Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. John Braund of Rogue Valley Hospice will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Lindsay, 87, of Medford, died Sept. 10, 2000, at his home.

He was born Nov. 12, 1912, in Ashland, a son of William and Joan Lindsay. The Lindsays were early homesteading pioneers in the Dead Indian area, and they established the Lily Glen Ranch at the turn of the century.
Mr. Lindsay moved to Fallon, Nev., where he graduated from high school. Nine years later, he returned to the Rogue Valley and attended what is now Southern Oregon University.
On April 13, 1941, in Ashland, he married Mariece McLaren, who survives.
In 1946, Mr. Lindsay and his brothers established Lindsay Lumber Co., which he managed for 25 years. Initially, he had operated a sawmill at the site of the present Howard Prairie Reservoir. Before retiring in 1975, he worked for several years at Bates Wholesale Co. in Medford.
He served in the Seabees in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was recalled to active duty during the Korean War.
Mr. Lindsay was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Southern Oregon Timber Industries Association (SOTIA) and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He served on the Natural Resources Advisory Committee of the Board of County Commissioners.
He was an avid game hunter and sports fisherman, and loved to travel.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Patricia Lindsay, Medford, Marlene Montgomery, Silver Spring, Md., and Barbara Ford, London; and twin granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by brothers Henry and David Lindsay.

A. Helen Buckley
The rosary for A. Helen Buckley will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Central Valley Chapel in Central Point.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Clifford will officiate. Interment will be at Jacksonville Cemetery.
Mrs. Buckley, 83, of Creswell, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at Creswell Care Center.

She was born April 9, 1917, in Milwaukee, Wisc., and moved to Grants Pass in 1929. She attended what is now Southern Oregon University.
On Dec. 1, 1945, in Grants Pass, she married Lewis T. Buckley, who survives.
Mrs. Buckley lived and worked on the Buckley Ranch in the Applegate Valley until 1990, when she moved to Medford, then to Central Point before moving to Creswell in 1999.
She worked as a medical stenographer at Camp White during World War II. After the war, she worked as a medical stenographer for doctors in Medford. She also worked as a seamstress.
Mrs. Buckley was a member of St. Anne’s Altar Society, Providence Guild, Catholic Daughters, the Upper Applegate Grange, the Southern Oregon Historical Society and the Upper Applegate Garden and Sewing Club.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, James, Medford; two daughters, Mary L. Mikkelsen, Pleasant Hill, and Anna M. Schmidt, Bonita Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph Omann, Halfway, and Norbert Omann, Medford; three sisters, Irene Stevenson, Brookings, Grace Manthey, Grants Pass, and Romie Stoltz, Sequim, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six siblings and a grandchild.

Sharon Pitts
The memorial service for Sharon Pitts will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Applegate Christian Fellowship.
Mrs. Pitts, 64, of Jacksonville, died Sept. 9, 2000, in Medford.

She was born Sharon Klippert on Sept. 12, 1935, in Preston, Idaho, a daughter of Dean and Lillian Klippert. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1977 from Bellflower, Calif.
On Aug. 31, 1952, in Huntington Park, Calif., she married Norman Pitts, who survives.
Mrs. Pitts was a licensed cosmetologist. She also worked as a secretary for Rogue Valley Medical Center, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the Applegate Christian Fellowship and enjoyed horseback riding and sewing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Julie DeBoer, Central Point; two sons, Rick, Eagle Point, and Michael, Central Point; a brother, Dean Klippert, Huntington Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Roy Graham Hazell
Roy Graham Hazell, 70, of Ashland, died Sept. 9, 2000 at his home. A private memorial service will be held later.

He was born March 21, 1930, in London.
On March 29, 1969, in San Francisco, he married Brita Schneider, who survives.
Mr. Hazell was a tool and die designer in the Bay Area in California. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from the Bay Area.
He was an avid sports car and fishing enthusiast, and a semi-professional soccer player in England.
He is survived by his wife, Brita Hazell, Ashland.

Eugene William Kirby
The graveside service for Eugene William Kirby will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Kirby, 83, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at his home.
He was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Cleveland. He graduated from John Carroll University in Cleveland in 1940.
On Jan. 16, 1946, in Rocky River, Ohio, he married Mary Grace A. Loddo, who survives.
Mr. Kirby served in the U.S. army during World War II, and retired after 21 years. Later, he was an insurance broker. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 from Mountain View, Calif.
He enjoyed golf and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Catherine M. Izumi, Honolulu; a son, Paul J., Loveland, Colo.; two sisters, Rosemarie Kopp, in Ohio, and Eleanor Kirby, Villa Maria, Pa.; and two brothers, Frank J., Wakesha, Wis.; and William J. Avon Lake, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Hass.
