Guy Scott Giffen

The memorial service for Guy Scott Giffen will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at 1028 Canyon Park Drive, Ashland. The Rev. V. Lee Gregory of Medford Neighborhood Church will officiate.

Mr. Giffen, 46, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 2000) at his home.

He was born Feb. 13, 1954, in Ventura, Calif., a son of Dwight and Carolyn (Clayton) Giffen.

On June 22, 1985, in Costa Mesa, Calif., he married Anna L. Zimmerman, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Orange County, Calif.

Mr. Giffen was a foreman and painter with Corey Robbins Painting Company in Medford.

He enjoyed softball, golf, hunting and football.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Sean, Medford; two daughters, Michele Martin and Nichole Giffen, both Medford; his mother, Carolyn Giffen, Costa Mesa, Calif.; two brothers, Cameron, Hardy, Va., and Casey, Hughson, Calif.; a sister, Suzanne Giffen, Costa Mesa, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight; and an uncle, Glen.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Anna Hiebert Baker

Anna Hiebert Baker, 87, of Jacksonville, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 2000) at a Medford foster care home. No service is planned. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park in McMinnville.

She was born April 19, 1913, in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of Jacob and Susie (Penner) Hiebert.

On Oct. 13, 1931, in Hillsboro, she married James A. Davis, who preceded her in death. On May 8, 1962, in Vancouver, Wash., she married William Fred Baker, who died in 1992.

Mrs. Baker was a homemaker. She lived in McMinnville from 1962-1992, when she moved to the Rogue Valley.

Survivors include two daughters, LouAnn Rucker, Prospect, and Loretta Meeds, Jacksonville; a son, David R. Davis, Prospect; two stepsons, Paul Baker, Burke, Va., and Jim Baker, Tigard; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Richard ‘Rick’ Tuttle

Richard "Rick" Tuttle, 78, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (Sept. 17, 2000) at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation in Grants Pass. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 12, 1921, in St. Louis, and was married for 53 years to Leola M. Tuttle, who died in 1998. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from California.

Mr. Tuttle was a recreational vehicle salesman for many years.

He was involved with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in his younger years, and was a member of the Eagles and Elks Lodges.

Mr. Tuttle enjoyed RV travel with his wife.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Sr., Medford; a daughter, Debra Antonucci, Sunny Valley; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Juliet Clarke Cotton

Juliet Virginia Clarke Cotton, 91, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2000) at Mountain View Retirement in Ashland. Private inurnment will be at a later date.

She was born July 18, 1909, in Texarkana, Texas, a daughter of Louis E. and Verda O. Spiva.

In 1930, in Austin, Texas, she married Guy E. Clarke, who died in 1984. In 1991, in Medford, she married Joseph Cotton, who died in 1995.

Mrs. Cotton was the office manager at the Ashland Daily Tidings. She also worked as the housing manager for women students at what is now Southern Oregon University.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Business and Professional Women’s Association.

Survivors include a son, Rex E. Clarke, Medford; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, D.W. Spiva and O.L. Spiva.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Keith Franklin Reynolds

Keith Franklin Reynolds, 73, of Medford, Crescent City, Calif., and Tucson, Ariz., died Sept. 13, 2000, in Medford. Private inurnment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Peoria, Ill.

Mr. Reynolds worked as a tire retreader for nine years in Tucson, Ariz., and with Oregon Tire and General Tire in the Rogue Valley. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1994.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Trudy Cole, Central Point; a brother, Robert, Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David; and a sister, Joyce Condor.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Hazel Lucille Kirk

The graveside service for Hazel Lucille Kirk will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.

Mrs. Kirk, 89, of Medford, died Monday (Sept. 18, 2000) in Medford.

She was born Hazel Lucille Brown on June 24, 1911, in Ellwood City, Pa.

On Dec. 4, 1930, in Weirton, W. Va., she married Francis W. Kirk, who died in 1993. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1944 from Southern California.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Medford.

Mrs. Kirk enjoyed flower gardening.

Survivors include a son, Robert, Gold Hill; three sisters, Beulah McConnell, Ellwood City, Pa., Dorothy Campbell, Georgetown, Pa., and Gladys Masquelier, Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Donald Brown, Chester, W. Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Brown.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Leona Jean Moran

The funeral for Leona J. Moran will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. Pastor Ron McKay of Ruch Community Bible Church will officiate.

Mrs. Moran, 88, of Ashland, died Sunday (Sept. 17, 2000) at an Ashland foster home.

She was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Dickson City, Pa., and was raised there.

On June 24, 1933, in Philadelphia, she married Charles H. Moran, who died in 1975.

Mrs. Moran was a bookkeeper for Wassell Pie Bakery in Pennsylvania. She lived in Broomall, Pa., until 1997, when she moved to Ashland.

She was a member of the Marple Presbyterian Church for 40 years.

Mrs. Moran enjoyed reading, shopping and playing bridge.

Survivors include a son, Buzz, Talent; a daughter, Patricia Ann Parmelee, Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Mildred Gilfillian, Inglewood, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Grace Desire ‘Dee’ Dillon

The Mass for Grace Desire "Dee" Dillon will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Liam Cary will officiate.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel.

Mrs. Dillon, 81, of Phoenix, died Monday (Sept. 18, 2000) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born May 5, 1919, in Manito, Colo., a daughter of Clyde I. and Meredith D. Snider.

On March 2, 1940, in Petaluma, Calif., she married Vincent B. Dillon, who died in 1997. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Dillon was a homemaker.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mrs. Dillon enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading.

Survivors include a son, Michael V., Palmer, Alaska; Sandy Dillon, Palmer, Alaska; a sister, Pearl Brock, Phoenix; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard B., and Vincent Jr.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.
