Lena May Holden
Lena May Holden, 95, of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 23, 2000) at a foster care home. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
She was born April 29, 1905, in Portland, Maine, a daughter of George and Margaret (Marshal) Burchill. On Dec. 6, 1941, in Portland, Maine, she married Fred H. Holden, who preceded her in death. She moved to the Rogue Valley in the 1980s from Phoenix, Ariz.
Mrs. Holden enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include a brother, John Burchill, in Maine.

John Neal Turman
John Neal Turman, 66, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Laramie, Wyo., the son of Keith and Thelma (Boyles) Turman. On June 17, 1953, in Laramie, Wyo., he married Patricia Ann Malody, who survives.
Mr. Turman was a manager for AT&T in Pleasanton, Calif., for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He moved to the Rogue Valley in August 2000 from Mount Shasta, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Turman was a member of the Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling and square dancing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, John Jr., Ashland, and Scott F., Redding, Calif.; two daughters, Kim Drell, Casper, Wyo., and Kelly Miller, Livermore, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Harnish, in Nebraska; and nine grandchildren.

Charlotte R. Malbourn
The funeral for Charlotte R. Malbourn will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Medford.
Mrs. Malbourn, 94, of Medford, died Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 16, 1906, in Freeport, Ill. She married Earl Malbourn, who preceded her in death. They moved to Aberdeen, S.D., then to Medford.
Mrs. Malbourn was a probation officer in Minneapolis for many years.
At St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, she was an active member of Daughters of the King and the Episcopal Church Women.
Mrs. Malbourn enjoyed travel and playing cards.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Barbara Killerud, in Minnesota.

Robert M. Turner
Dr. Robert Martin Turner, 77, of Ashland, died Saturday (Sept. 23, 2000) at Ashland Community Hospital. No service is planned.

He was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Oklahoma City, a son of Ella and Martin Turner. He attended Whitman College and graduated from medical school at the University of Washington in 1950. He interned at Queens Hospital in Honolulu.
On Nov. 27, 1970, in Ashland, he married Pauline Claire Pratt.
Dr. Turner moved to the Rogue Valley in 1951, where he began his medical practice in Ashland. He retired from his practice in 1983.
From 1983 to 1990, he was the chief of ambulatory care at the Veterans Administration Domiciliary in White City. He later worked in occupational health at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Dr. Turner was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland, the Ashland Elks Lodge, the Oregon Medical Association, Jackson County Medical Society, Ashland Hospital Medical Society, where he served as chief of staff, and the Rogue Valley Country Club. He also helped to set up the Tomlin Memorial Lectures.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, William W., Tahoe City, Calif.; a daughter, Tracy Anne Turner, Ashland; two stepsons, John Jessel, Los Angeles, and Joel Jessel, Morgan Hill, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Simpson, Cornelius; a brother, William, Pendleton; and six grandchildren. A brother, Earl, preceded him in death.

David O’Brien
The memorial service for David O’Brien will be at 11 a.m. today at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford.
Mr. O’Brien, 61, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 8, 1939, in Klamath Falls, a son of Wilson Henry and Mildred Elizabeth (Stillwell) O’Brien.
Mr. O’Brien worked as a ranch hand.
Survivors include two sons, Dino and Troy, both Medford; two daughters, Teresa Ochoa, Medford, and Margaret Lumpkin, Tallassee, Ala.; two stepsons, Terry, in Idaho, and Don Kewley, Redding, Calif.; five stepdaughters, Sherry Kewley, Shady Cove, and Wendy Kewley, Medford, Beesie Luke, Darenda Brown, and Tina Puscas, all in Virginia; five brothers, Jack Stillwell in Montana, Tom Noud and Pat Noud, both in Colorado, Walt O’Brien and Jerry O’Brien, both in Elko, Nev.; six sisters, Nona Powell, Chico, Calif., Mary Harris and Beverly Noud, both in Texas, Bessie Meadows, White City, Jessie Ott, Anaheim, Calif., and Georgain Brand, Rogue River; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Billy Noud; a sister, Ona O’Brien; and one granddaughter, Courtney Ann Allen.

Margie Margaret Evans
Margie Margaret Evans, 82, of Gold Hill, died Monday (Sept. 25, 2000) at her home. The funeral service will be held in Dallas, Texas.

She was born May 2, 1918, in Nacogdoches, Texas, a daughter of James Albert and Kate Alma Myers.
Fifty-two years ago, in Van Nuys, Calif., she married Garnet Evans, who survives.
Mrs. Evans was a professional photographer. She later worked as a career advertising executive. She moved to the Rogue Valley 22 years ago from Los Angeles.
She bred, raised and showed collies. She also enjoyed photography and cooking.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two stepdaughters, Marilee Sullivan, Sacramento, Calif., and Teryl McCarl, Sonoma, Calif.; and two sisters, Thelma O’Daniel and Jimmie Myers, both Memphis, Tenn.

Marion Louise Wilcox
The graveside service for Marion Louise Brough Wilcox will be at 2 p.m. today at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Wilcox, 78, of Oregon City, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Sept. 23, 2000) in Oregon City.
She was born Marion Brough on May 11, 1922, in Logan, Utah. On Aug. 24, 1942, she married Donald J. Wilcox, who died in 1984.
Mrs. Wilcox was a homemaker. She lived in Medford from 1952 to 1984, and in Bountiful, Utah, from 1984 to 1997 when she moved to Oregon City.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include a son, Steve, Oregon City; a stepson, Fred, Atlanta; a stepdaughter, Marlene Blubaugh, San Jacinto, Calif.; a brother, Rodney Brough, Bountiful, Utah; five sisters, Susan Willey, Barbara Neimoyer and Bernice Hunter, all Bountiful, Utah, Lola Bonham, Tempe, Ariz., and Dixie Hanson, Corona, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Gerald William Hansen
The graveside service for Gerald William Hansen will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Brownsboro Cemetery in Brownsboro. The Rev. Bob Craig will officiate.
Mr. Hansen, 84, of Eagle Point, died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) in a car accident on Highway 140 in Eagle Point.
He was born Feb. 24, 1916, in Hilt, Calif., a son of William and Susie Hansen. The family moved to the Rogue Valley 82 years ago from Hilt, Calif. He graduated from Eagle Point High School and attended what is now Southern Oregon University. On Sept. 11, 1940, in Reno, Nev., he married Margaret Walch, who survives.
Mr. Hansen worked for the U.S. Forest Service for several years, then as a timber faller until 1962. He also worked for Eagle Point School District No. 9, retiring after 16 years. Four generations of the family living on the ranch helped him continue to work on the family ranch in Eagle Point. The ranch has been in the family for 82 years.
He was a member of the Lake Creek Grange and was a board member of the Brownsboro Cemetery Association. He also belonged to the Oregon School Employees Association (OSEA) and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Hansen was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Jerilyn Watson, Eagle Point; one grandson; three step-grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Hansen, in 1922; and a brother, Paul, in 1922.
