Emery Hobson
Emery Stewart Hobson, 86, of Pacific Grove, Calif., formerly of Medford, died Friday (March 31, 2000) in Salinas, Calif. The funeral was held Monday at Paul Mortuary in Pacific Grove, Calif. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 25, 1913, in Mitchell, S.D. He did his undergraduate work at the University of Oregon, where he was also the first to earn a master's degree in piano. He also studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and Stanford University. He had played the piano since the age of three.
Mr. Hobson was a music teacher at Wasco Union High School. He lived in Monterey County for the past 10 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Hobson was the organist for the First Congregational Church in Wasco, Calif.
He enjoyed fishing with his brothers and son.
Survivors include two sons, Stewart, Pacific Grove, Calif., and John, Livermore, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Ruby Mae Bridge
Ruby Mae Bridge, 87, of Central Point, died Monday (April 3, 2000) at her home. The memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born June 22, 1912, in Paris, Texas, a daughter of Charles and Neva (Zetzsche) Wilcox. She moved to Oregon in 1930.
In 1943, she married Charles Andrew Layton, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bridge was a homemaker.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Medford.
Mrs. Bridge enjoyed crafts, animals and making peanut brittle for her family.
Survivors include six sons, Gordon Layton, Central Point, Joseph "Joe" Layton, Eagle Point, William "Bill" Layton, Madras, Charles Edward "Eddie" Layton, Virginia Beach, Va., James "Jim" Layton, Chandler, Okla., and Johnny W. Crawford, in Texas; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Wilcox; a sister, Ruth Hough; and a great-granddaughter.

Leonard H. Olson
The memorial service for Leonard H. Olson will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (April 8, 2000) in the North Bend Chapel. The Rev. Melvin Wiggers of Community Church and the Rev. Susan L. Kyllo of Faith Lutheran Church will officiate.
Mr. Olson, 82, of North Bend, (formerly of Medford) died March 26, 2000 in North Bend.
Mr. Olson was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Bemidji, Minn.
On Feb. 12, 1939, in Minnesota, he married Ione, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley from 1950 to 1980.
Mr. Olson worked as a building contractor until his retirement.
He served in World War II with the Merchant Marines.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing the fiddle.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Wayne, Central Point; a daughter, Darlene Sayre, North Bend; three brothers, Wayne, Carrol, and Marvin, all of Elbow Lake, Minn.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
sister, Gladys Schmall, in 1971.

Ralph Lawson
The memorial service for Ralph Wayne Lawson will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel, 715 W. Main St.
Mr. Lawson, 58, of Phoenix, died Friday (March 26, 2000) in Medford.

Mr. Lawson was born March 31, 1941, in Phoenix. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life. He enjoyed animals and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Todd Lawson, of Ukiah, Calif.; a sister, Mildred Irene Brosnahan of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, Eugene Lawson of Phoenix and Bob Lawson of Camas, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
Helen M. Murphy
The funeral Mass for Helen Marie Murphy, Medford, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mrs. Murphy, 91, died Friday (March 31, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.
She was born Helen Marie Daly on Aug. 21, 1908 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
On July 27, 1927, in Lakeview, she married Con C. Murphy, who died in 1945.
The couple moved from Lakeview to the Rogue Valley in 1937.
She was a nurse's aide at Sacred Heart and Providence hospitals. She retired in 1974.
Mrs. Murphy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting.
Survivors include sons John and Frances Murphy, Medford, and Neal Murphy, Grants Pass; a daughter, Anna Marie Walsh, Hayward, Calif.; two sisters; one brother; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may pay their respects from 4-7 p.m. at Perl Funeral Homes at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Willis Elam
The memorial service for Willis Howard Elam, 70, a coach and honorary graduate of South Medford High School, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Eastwood Baptist Church. The Rev. George Nye, of the Eastwood Baptist Church, will officiate. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Elam died Thursday (March 30, 2000) at his Medford home.

Mr. Elam was born Oct. 28, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He graduated from Central State University in Oklahoma in 1965.
In January, 1965, also in Oklahoma City, he married Cheryl Ann Grabowski. The couple moved to the Rogue Valley from Anaheim, Calif., in 1969.
Mr. Willis was an elementary school teacher. He taught at Medford's Westside School for 14 years, and Griffin Creek School for 12 years. He also taught in California for two years.
In 1971, Mr. Elam was selected among "Leaders of American Elementary Education."
He received the honorary diploma from South Medford High School in 1988 for contributing to the lives of students. He was the freshman football coach at South from 1985 to 1990.
He was a member and deacon of the Eastwood Baptist Church.
Last year, he was a co-grand marshal in the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life."
Mr. Elam also served in the Air Force.
Survivors in addition to his wife include daughters Karen G. Long, Mesquite, Texas, and R. Kristy Kreiger, Jupiter, Fla; sons N. Craig Terrana, Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Doug G. Elam, Medford; his mother, Gwen Elam, Collins, Mo.; a brother, C. Lynn Elam, North Pole, Alaska; a sister, Sharon Ray, Collins, Mo.; six grandchildren.
Richard Frank Dauber
The memorial service for Richard Frank Dauber will be at 2 P.m. Monday in the Conger Morris Medford Chapel. Rev. Paul Hagedorn will officiate. Inurnment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Dauber, 64, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (March 30, 2000) at his home.

He was born on March 28, 1936, in Mechanicsville, Iowa, a son of Lowell Victor and Hazel Leinen Dauber.
On September 27, 1975, in San Diego, he married Beverly who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Calif.
Mr. Dauber is a graduate of San Diego State University.
He owned a real estate agency in California and worked as a real estate agent for John L. Scott.
Mr. Dauber served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1961.
He enjoyed fishing and reading.
Survivors in addition to his wife include, a son, Eric, Julian, Calif.; a daughter, Amy Lynch, Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother Russell, Mechanicsville, Iowa; and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
