Mary Crosby
The rosary for Mary Crosby will be a 8 a.m. Sunday (April 9, 2000) at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday (April 10) at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland.
Interment will be at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Hayward, Calif.
Mrs. Crosby, 88, of Ashland, died Friday at her home.
She was born Feb. 13, 1912, in Baltimore, Md. She lived in Annapolis, Md., and attended schools in Washington, D.C.
In 1947, in California, she married Harry Crosby. She moved to Ashland in 1978.
Mrs. Crosby enjoyed camping, painting and gardening and traveled widely.
Surviving are three sons, Fred Crosby, of Fremont, Calif., James Crosby, of Ashland, and John Crosby, of Hayward, Calif.; a sister, Gertrude Hoffman, of Hilton Head, S.C.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.

Parke George Youree
Parke George Youree, 82, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (April 5, 2000) at his home after a lengthy illness. No service is planned.

He was born March 3, 1918, in Oak Grove, Mo. He lived in Southern California for most of his life.
Mr. Youree owned and operated a commercial printing business in Glendale, Calif., for 45 years, retiring in 1981. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marie, Phoenix; three daughters, Denise Hyer, Portland, Janet Guile, Cohasset, Calif., and JoAnne Ackerman, in Southern California; a son, George, in Southern California; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Louise Lewis
The graveside service for Louise Lewis will be at 11 a.m. today at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.
Mrs. Lewis, 93, of Medford, died Wednesday (April 5, 2000) at her home.
She was born Louise Brock on April 7, 1906, in Murfreesboro, Ark.
On April 23, 1927, in Murfreesboro, Ark., she married Asa Lewis, who died in 1980. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1967 from Glendale.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lewis enjoyed gardening, sewing and walking.
Survivors include two sons, Asa, Medford, and Tom, Springfield; five daughters, Evelyn Oden, White City, Mary Ford, Central Point, Georgia Bonnie, Grants Pass, Betty Garcia, Winston, and Virginia West, Canyonville; 30 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George; and a daughter, Anna Sue McGuirt.

Chester Conrad Ashby
The memorial service for Chester Conrad Ashby will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Table Rock Christian Fellowship. Pastors Tom Sabens and Lee Schaefer will officiate.
Mr. Ashby, 80, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (April 5, 2000) in Medford.
He was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Trinidad, Colo.
In 1939, in California, he married Bobbie Wirth, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1972 from Redding, Calif. Prior to that they had lived in Klamath Falls from 1945 to 1969.
Mr. Ashby worked in public relations for Star Autobody in Medford.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Mike, Phoenix, and Patric, Chula Vista, Calif.; three daughters, Mollie Ashby, Medford, Rochelle Brasseur, Hillsboro, and Shannon Belli, Redding, Calif.; a sister, Marion Keener, Klamath Falls; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Lee Buck
The chapel service for Lee Buck will be at 3 p.m. today at Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel in Medford. Pastor Stan Johnson of West Main Church of Christ will officiate.
Mr. Buck, 87, of Waldport, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (April 4, 2000) in Waldport.
He was born Feb. 18, 1913, in Tuttle, Okla.
On Nov. 18, 1949, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, he married Nelma H. Hanlon, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1972 from Reno, Nev.
Mr. Buck was in the construction business. He built and owned the first mini storage warehouses in Grants Pass and Medford. He moved to Waldport in February 2000.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Gary, Waldport, and Edwin, Midland, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Jenkins, Oklahoma City, and Fawnda White, in Washington; three brothers, Jack, Grants Pass, Fred, Apple Valley, Calif., and Eugene, Tuttle, Okla.; five sisters, Elsie Spence, Mangum, Okla., Mary Tierce, Oklahoma City, Bernice Cruzan, Tuttle, Okla., June Johnson, Vienna, Ill., and Margie Buck, Elkton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Christopher B. Atherton
The memorial service for Christopher Bell Atherton will be at 3:30 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland. The Rev. Scott Delgarno will officiate.
Mr. Atherton, 44, of Medford, died Monday (April 3, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 19, 1955, in San Mateo, Calif., a son of Hilton and Ann Atherton. He was raised in San Mateo where he earned athletic letters in both football and track at San Mateo High School. He moved to Ashland in 1984.
Mr. Atherton was an elementary school volunteer in Kelly Nash's classroom at Briscoe School in Ashland. The children knew him as ``Uncle Chris."
He enjoyed children, reading, movies and all sporting events.
Survivors include his mother, Ann Atherton, San Mateo, Calif.; a brother, Hilton, Lake Tahoe, Nev.; four sisters, Lindsey Atherton, Ashland, Susie Atherton, Portland, and Ann and Amy Atherton, both San Mateo, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother; and one sister.

Robert E. Whitaker
The Mass of Christian Burial for Robert E. Whitaker will be at noon Monday at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church in Rogue River. The Rev. Gregory Moys will officiate. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Whitaker, 64, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (April 4, 2000) at his home.

He was born July 24, 1935, in Honolulu.
On Sept. 1, 1978, in Seattle, he married Shirley Ellis, who survives. He helped raise her three children.
Mr. Whitaker worked as a heat and frost insulator. He worked in many areas, including nuclear power plants and the Alaskan pipeline, and lived in nearly every state. He moved to Rogue River in 1988 from Fishkill, N.Y.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Whitaker was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as past commander three times. He designed the Korean Memorial at the Rogue River VFW Post 4116.
He enjoyed growing roses and discussing the Marine Corps and his Irish heritage.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Candice Campbell, Alamogordo, N.M., and India Dee Arnold, Marysville, Calif.; a son, Barton Montgomery, Chico, Calif.; a brother, Millard Jr., Atwater, Calif.; three sisters, Gail Hooper, Laguna Niguel,
Calif.; Laura Prinderville, Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Ann Weiss, Rancho Bernardo, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
