George W. Wiget
George W. Wiget, 93, of Trail, died Saturday (April 22, 2000) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born Aug. 31, 1906, in Glen Ellen, Calif., a son of Werner and Lena (Littennager) Wiget.
On May 5, 1979, in Reno, Nev., he married Alverna Bond, who survives. He moved to Oregon in 1987 from California.
Mr. Wiget was a trapper with the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife for 44 years.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and telling stories about his outdoor experiences.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, George Perry Wiget, Bodega Bay, Calif., and Lawrence Post and Charles Post, both Graham, Wash.; a daughter, Katherine Dunn, Homes Flat, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Imo Sylvia Slaten
Imo Sylvia Slaten, 96, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (April 23, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. No service is planned.
She was born Jan. 5, 1904, in Mount Carmel, Ill., a daughter of Blane and Lillie (Hadley) Price. She attended college in Bloomington, Ill., at what is now known as the University of Illinois.
On Jan. 11, 1943, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., she married Carl Slaten, who died in 1991.
Mrs. Slaten was a first-grade teacher. She also worked as a governess in Hollywood, Calif., and was a close friend of the actress Myrna Loy. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from San Luis Obispo, Calif. Due to her health, she moved to her daughter's home in Eagle Point in January.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Hansen, Eagle Point; a sister, Lola Green, Bethalto, Ill.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Dean Rickard Sr.
The memorial service for Dean Rickard Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bear Creek Park Amphitheater. Bishop Larry Doll of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. A reception will follow at Totem Pole Trailer Park, 812 S. Pacific Highway, No. 29, Talent.
Mr. Rickard, 61, of Medford, died Saturday (April 8, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1938, in Red Cloud, Neb. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1957 from Shelton, Wash.
On Oct. 11, 1974, in Medford, he married Victoria Lytle, who survives.
Mr. Rickard was the manager of Basin Tire in White City for the last six years. Prior to that he was the manager of General Tire in Medford for 36 years.
He was a member of the Medford Elks Lodge.
Mr. Rickard enjoyed hunting, fishing, football and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Dean Jr., Medford; four stepsons, Mike, Bill, Wayne and Allen; a brother, Wes, Yuma, Ariz., a sister, Dot Moore, Belfair, Wash.; and nine grandchildren.

Donald Leroy Steck
The funeral for Donald Leroy Steck will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2141 Brookhurst, Medford. Elder Michael Robinson will officiate. The graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Steck, 65, of Beaverton, formerly of Medford, died Friday (April 7, 2000) at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland.

He was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Sutherland, Neb. He was raised on a farm in Nebraska, and moved to Denver in 1959.
On June 14, 1959, in North Platte, Neb., he married Carolyn Amstuz, who survives.
Mr. Steck was a welder for Pape Brothers in Medford and for Atlas Copco Wagner in Portland. He lived in the Rogue Valley for 25 years and moved to Beaverton in 1992.
He served in the U.S. Army as a radioman from 1955 to 1957 at S.H.A.P.E. Headquarters in Paris.
Mr. Steck was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and camping.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Brian, Ashland, Steven, Medford, and Allen, Beaverton; a daughter, Donna Connolly, Lehi, Utah; a brother, Leonard, Banning, Calif.; two sisters, Florence Kratzer, Loveland, Colo., and Gladys Golden, Klamath Falls; and six grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford; and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the LDS Brookhurst Building, Medford.
Ruth E. Anderson
Ruth Elizabeth Anderson, 86, of Medford, died Sunday (April 9, 2000) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born June 19, 1913, in New Britain, Conn., a daughter of David and Alice Larson.
Mrs. Anderson was a registered nurse and then the associate director of nurses at Riverside County Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1989. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1994 from Riverside, Calif.
Survivors include two sons, Roger, Medford, and Robert, Grapeview, Wash.; a brother, Robert Larson, Modesto, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Anderson; two brothers, Harold and Everett Larson; and a sister, Eleanor Salomon.

Clarence P. Whittaker
The graveside service for Clarence Peter Whittaker will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka, Calif.
Mr. Whittaker, 93, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (April 9, 2000) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
He was born Sept. 7, 1906, in Happy Camp, Calif., a son of Jim and Estella Whittaker. He attended school in Happy Camp.
On June 16, 1967, in Reno, Nev., he married Gertrude E. Colby, who survives. They moved to Oregon in 1969.
Mr. Whittaker was a logger in the timber industry for 30 years.
He enjoyed polishing rocks and making jewelry.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two stepsons, Kenneth Bridwell, New York City, and Everett Bridwell, Gazelle, Calif. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Bridwell.

Dixie Anita Hale
The memorial service for Dixie Anita Hale will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Rogue Valley Christian Church, Medford. Pastor Kenne Horton will officiate.
Mrs. Hale, 59, of Medford, died Saturday (April 8, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born May 26, 1940, in Astoria, a daughter of Fred and June (Tobin) Bozeman.
On Dec. 19, 1973, in Roseburg, she married Ronald Edwin Hale, who survives.
Mrs. Hale was an administrative assistant for US Cellular.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Holly Dae Woodall and Merrily Kaye Woodall, both Portland; a son, Bradley Houston Woodall, Portland; and a brother, Todd Bozeman, Sutherlin.
