May B. Wynkoop
The memorial gathering for May B. Wynkoop will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Royal Oaks Mobile Manor recreation hall in Medford. Inurnment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
Mrs. Wynkoop, 84, of Medford, died Monday (April 17, 2000) at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Wash.
She was born Sept. 22, 1915, in Mays County, Okla., near Pryor, a daughter of George and Mattie (Reed) Osborn.
Mrs. Wynkoop worked as a cook and waitress at various restaurants including the Union Club and Sally's Place in Medford. She lived in Medford for 35 years.
She enjoyed walking, people, nature and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Smith, Medford, Calvin Smith, Albany, and Arnold Thomas, East Wenatchee, Wash.; a brother, Rufus Osborn, Toppenish, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Joe L. Thomas, Bertie W. Smith, and Vernon Wynkoop; five children, LeRoy Thomas, Ron Thomas, LeRoy Thomas II, Kevin Thomas and a still-born daughter; one brother; one grandson; and one granddaughter.

Wanda Marie Hunt
Wanda Marie Hunt, 73, of Yreka, Calif., died Thursday (April 20, 2000) at her home. A private service will be held today. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Yreka, Calif.

She was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Barber, Ark., a daughter of George Washington and Lottie (Winters) Hunt. She moved to Firebaugh, Calif., from Arkansas. In 1990, she moved to Yreka from Fresno, Calif.
Mrs. Hunt was a waitress for many years.
She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Mainord, Medford, and James Mainord, Yreka, Calif.; three daughters, Deborah Nowlin, Chyrel Bolender, and Marsha Moore, all Yreka, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Hunt, in Oklahoma; a sister, Helen Arbizu, Hoopa, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mars Hunt; a daughter, Carol Sue Hunt, three sisters, Sue Wardlaw; Joann Johnston, and Robbie Hunt.

Dorothy Ester Jones
Dorothy Ester Jones, 98, of Rogue River, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. No services are planned.
Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 1, 1901, in San Francisco to Fredrick J. and Anne E. Martin. On Dec. 23, 1923, in Berkeley, Calif., she married Austin E. Jones, who died in 1985.
Mrs. Jones has lived in the Rogue Valley for nine years, moving here from Springfield. She was a librarian.
She was a member of the Catholic Church and she enjoyed traveling, books and needlework.
Survivors include her daughter, Julia Moore, of Rogue River; three sons, Martin, of Lake Charles, La., David, of Spokane, Wash., and Ethan of Tok, Alaska; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Jones, in 1924.
Elva L. Roppe
Elva L. Roppe, 71, of Biggs, Calif., formerly of Medford, died April 8, 2000, of natural causes at Valley Oaks Health Center in Gridley, Calif. No service is planned.
She was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Sentinel, Okla. She was a Butte County, Calif. resident for one year.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.
Survivors include two daughters, Pauline Abbott, Biggs, Calif., and Jean Wallace, Long Beach, Calif.; a son, Carl Clymer, Tempe, Ariz.; two brothers, Elton Rozell, Salem, and Charlie Rozell, Sentinel, Okla.; a sister, Kathryn Adams, Medford; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Christopher Richard Jimenez-Pyke
Funeral services for Christopher Richard Jimenez-Pyke will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Bishop Larry Doll of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jacksonville Ward, will officiate.
A graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Christopher, age 6 months, of Medford, died Wednesday (April 19, 2000) at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.
He was born Sept. 23, 1999, in Medford.
He is survived by his mother, Ramona Kenton, of Medford; his sister, Jasmin Kenton, of Medford; his grandparents, Jacqueline Cousineau and Raymond Kenton, both of Medford, and Liz and Wads Pyke of Talent; three great-grandparents and a great-great grandmother.
Two great-grandparents, two great-great grandparents and a great uncle preceded him in death.
Barbara Jeanne Affley
The graveside service for Barbara Jeanne Affley will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Affley, 75, of Medford, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Barbara Jeanne McBride on Feb. 26, 1925, in Chapel Hill, Tenn., the daughter of Charles Douglas and Beulah Bell McBride.
On Aug. 22, 1948, in Pamona, Calif., she married Harry J. Affley Jr., who survives. The couple moved to the Rogue Valley in 1975 before relocating to Smith River, Calif., in 1989. They moved back to Medford in October 1999.
A 1947 graduate of University of Southern California, Mrs. Affley was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, painting and music. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church Women's Auxiliary and the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Harry J. Affley III, Portland; three daughters, Mona Johnsey, Torrance, Calif., Janet Long, Veneta, and Carolyn Affley, Monmouth; and two grandchildren.

Helen S. Mayer
The memorial service for Helen Sawyer Mayer will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford. The funeral and interment was held on April 15 in Emmett, Idaho.
Mrs. Mayer, 78, of Medford, died April 11, 2000, at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
She was born April 1, 1922, in Emmett, Idaho, a daughter of Charles C. and Laura Glidden Sawyer. She grew up in Emmett, and graduated from Emmett High School in 1940. She then attended business school.
In 1942, she married Andrew J. Smith, who died in 1955.
On Aug. 24, 1957, she married Reece E. Mayer, who survives. They moved to Medford 42 years ago.
Mrs. Mayer was an administrative secretary for the Medford and Phoenix/Talent school districts.
For many years she was an active member of the Rogue Valley Women's Golf Association at the Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford, and frequently volunteered at local golf tournaments.
Mrs. Mayer enjoyed dancing, bowling, and golfing with her husband and sons.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Ed, Medford, and Gary, Sunningdale, England; a stepdaughter, Michelle Mayer-Moomaugh, Carlsbad, Calif.; three brothers, Duane and Larry Sawyer, both Emmett, Idaho, and Darrell Sawyer, Weiser, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wesley Sawyer.
Herman Pride Oliver
The graveside service for Herman Pride Oliver will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jacksonville Cemetery.
Mr. Oliver, 86, of Jacksonville, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born July 1, 1913, in Doris, Calif. His ancestors came to Jacksonville in 1852 with the second wagon train that arrived in the city, and his family has lived in the area ever since.
In 1942, in Warren, R.I., he married Emilie Ferriali, who survives.
Mr. Oliver owned a ranch on the Applegate, where he raised livestock. He also worked as a logger.
He collected books and refinished antique furniture.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Robert, Trail, and Wayne, San Diego; a sister, Leela White, Applegate; two brothers, Orvil, Shady Cove, and Joe, Trail; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, William Shannon Oliver.
Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
