Ferrantine Farlow

The funeral for Ferrantine Farlow will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Farlow, 90, of Gresham, formerly of Eagle Point, died Sunday (April 16, 2000) at Rest Harbor Nursing Home in Gresham.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

She was born Ferrantine Swinney on Dec. 4, 1909, in Grants Pass, a daughter of George and Minnie (Woolridge) Swinney. She attended schools in Grants Pass, Coquille and Falls City, and graduated from Medford Beauty College.

On Jan. 1, 1936, in Medford, she married Frederick P. Farlow, who died in 1959.

Mrs. Farlow and a friend operated a beauty shop in Eagle Point. She had also worked as a clerk at Lerner's, Newberry's and Mode O'Day stores.

She was active in 4-H, home extension, the Grange, PTA and the Eagle Point Community Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Richmond, Portland, and Sandra Schauble, Soldotna, Alaska; a brother, Raymond Swinney, in Texas; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Swinney and Vada Miles; and two brothers, LeRoy and Vincent Swinney.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Lorene O. Hudson

The graveside service for Lorene O. Hudson will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.

Mrs. Hudson, 88, of Sublimity, formerly of Central Point, died Tuesday (April 18, 2000) in Salem.

She was born Lorene Hardin on Aug. 29, 1911, in Dubois, Ind.

On Dec. 22, 1944, in Leavenworth, Wash., she married Carroll D. Hudson, who died in 1962.

Mrs. Hudson cared for foster children in her home for 20 years in Lane and Yamhill counties. She moved to Sublimity in January from Central Point.

She enjoyed flowers, reading, sewing and word puzzles.

Survivors include a daughter, Pauline Harris, Drain; a son, Jim, Brooks; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Arrangements: Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, Salem.

Borgia A. Pickrel

The memorial service for Borgia Alice Pickrel will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Trail Community Church. The Rev. Ron Welch will officiate. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday at Butte Falls Cemetery.

Mrs. Pickrel, 88, of Shady Cove, died Wednesday (April 19, 2000) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trail Community Church Missions Fund, 399 Old Trail Creek Road, Trail, OR 97541.

She was born April 24, 1911, in Arnold, Neb., a daughter of Elray H. and Maude A. Kruser. She was a descendant of prominent pioneer families in Nebraska.

On Sept. 29, 1931, in Arnold, Neb., she married Harold U. Pickrel, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1962 from Orangevale, Calif.

Mrs. Pickrel and her husband managed the Landmark Flower Ranch in Minatare, Neb., for 10 years.

She was an active member of the Orangevale Assembly of God in Orangevale, Calif. In Oregon, she was an active member of the Trail Community Church.

Mrs. Pickrel was known for writing and reciting poetry. She enjoyed gardening, camping with her family, sewing and cooking.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four daughters, Dorothy Brunner, Talent, Sharon Burns, Medford, Sally Burkhalter, Central Point, and Barbara Moore, Roseville; a son, Alan, Medford; a brother, Shannon Kruser, Orangevale, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Garner and Donzel Kruser; and a great-grandson.

Richard 'Dick' Lewis

The memorial service and celebration of the life of Richard Norbert "Dick" Lewis will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Best Inn & Suites Convention Center, 1015 S. Riverside, Medford. The Rev. William Dillard will officiate.

Mr. Lewis, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (April 20, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School, 431 S. Ivy, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born May 25, 1915, in Salem, a son of Ray and Margaret Lewis. He attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. on a football scholarship.

On Aug. 11, 1947, he married Aretha Roberts, who survives.

Mr. Lewis was a salesman.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Lewis was a member of the Elks, and was a charter member of the Medford Sports Hall of Fame.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and his family.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Jim, Medford, Rick, Grants Pass, and Steve, Sebastopol, Calif.; a brother, Jim, Medford; a sister, Gertrude Coats, Medford; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Ray "Buck."

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Vivian G. Parks-McCallister

The graveside service for Vivian G. Parks-McCallister will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sparlin Cemetery on Water Gap Road in Williams. Pastor Web Staunton of Applegate Christian Fellowship will officiate.

Mrs. Parks-McCallister, 62, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday (April 18, 2000) at her home.

She was born Dec. 5, 1937, in La Veta, Colo., a daughter of William G. and Margarette (Wilhite) Tompkins. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1950 from Colorado.

On Oct. 6, 1978, in Medford, she married Richard McCallister, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Parks-McCallister was a housekeeper.

She attended Applegate Christian Fellowship, and had also attended the First Baptist Church in White City.

Mrs. Parks-McCallister enjoyed cooking, reading and family gatherings.

Survivors include two daughters, Christina Weeks and Tammy Harper, both Medford; three sons, Don Parks, White City, Bill Parks, Grants Pass, and Virgil E. Parks, Medford; a brother, Gene "Bob" Tompkins, Keizer; a sister, Louise Keith, Medford; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil A. Parks; her second husband, Richard McCallister; a son, Terry Parks; and a brother, James Tompkins.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, 550 Business Park Drive, Medford.

Michael Stephen

Michael Stephen, 63, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (April 18, 2000) at a local foster home. No service is planned.

He was born Oct. 21, 1936, in New York, N.Y.

Mr. Stephen was a photographer. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Los Angeles 10 years ago.

He enjoyed ham radio communication, sailing, and collecting pocket watches.

Survivors include a sister, Terry Chasmar, Crystal River, Fla.

Arrangements: Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Francis Aloysius Burns

The memorial service for Francis Aloysius Burns will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the Grace Community Church, Grange Community Hall, Greenhorn Park, Yreka, Calif. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yreka.

Mr. Burns, 68, of Yreka, Calif., died Monday (April 17, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Chicago.

On Sept. 1, 1952, in Chicago, he married Faye Bucaro, who preceded him in death. He moved to Yreka in 1973 from El Cajon, Calif.

Mr. Burns owned and operated an RV repair business.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and his grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Frank, Roy, Wash., and Michael, San Diego; two daughters, Faye Karen Matchett, Yreka, Calif., and Mary Anderson, Lacey, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Ashland Funeral Care.
