Lin Larsen Rhoades
The memorial service for Lin Brown Larsen Rhoades will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rhoades, 55, of Medford, formerly of Ashland, died Tuesday (April 25, 2000) at her home.

She was born Jan. 24, 1945, in San Jose, Calif., a daughter of Bruce and Aubra "Billie" (Saunders) Brown. She attended 13 schools in 12 years and eventually dropped out of high school.
In 1963, she married Nels Pratt Larsen. They moved to Columbus, Miss., and later divorced. Following the divorce, she and her three children moved to Napa, Calif.
She moved to Ashland in 1977, and as a welfare mother, took advantage of a program to return to school. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in science from what is now Southern Oregon University, graduating with honors as a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
In 1979, in Ashland, she married Michael Rhoades, who survives.
Mrs. Rhoades was a vocational rehabilitation counselor for Crawford & Company until she suffered a stroke in 1985 that prevented her from returning to work.
In Mississippi, she introduced Lamaze natural childbirth techniques to the state as the first white woman in recent medical history to give birth naturally in a hospital setting.
She also was a co-founder of the first state chapter of La Leche League and was active in little theater.
Mrs. Rhoades was listed twice in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities and was a student club advisor.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Curtis Larsen, Laurel, Miss.; two daughters, Kem Brainerd, Portland, and Courtney Manhold, Pollock Pines, Calif.; two sisters, Ann Munson, Big Sur, Calif., and Sue Harrison, St. Helena, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Gary Alan Antoine
Gary Alan Antoine, 62, of Shady Cove, died Tuesday (April 25, 2000) at his home. A private service will be held in Westlake Village, Calif.

He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Los Angeles. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1982 from Santa Barbara County, Calif.
On Oct. 16, 1987, in Shady Cove, he married Sharon Maxwell, who survives.
Mr. Antoine owned and operated Marina Towing in Marina Del Rey, Calif. He was a licensed sea captain, owned several vessels, and had a charter service in the Caribbean. In Shady Cove, he owned Lost Creek Properties, developing properties in the Upper Rogue area.
An avid buff of Shady Cove and Eagle Point history, he also enjoyed scuba diving and fishing on the Rogue River.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Mark, Carpinteria, Calif., and Sean, Santa Barbara, Calif.; a daughter, Renee Antoine-Blum, Carpinteria, Calif.; two stepsons, Walt and Spencer Davenport, both Shady Cove; his mother, Mildred Antoine, Santa Barbara, Calif.; three brothers, Ronald, Santa Barbara, Calif., Phil, Myrtle Creek, Ga., and Michael, Westlake Village, Calif.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Nathan R. 'Bob' Deaver
Nathan R. "Bob" Deaver, 78, of Medford, died Tuesday (April 25, 2000) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Medford, a son of John and Agnes (Robinson) Deaver. He graduated from Medford High School in 1939.
On Jan. 10, 1976, in Medford, he married Joanne Parsons, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Deaver was associated with his father in Deaver Tractor & Implement. He later became a salesman and parts manager for several John Deere Dealerships.
During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines for 10 years as a seaman and licensed deck officer in all theaters.
Mr. Deaver was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason and Past Master of Medford Lodge No. 103 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy A. Andrews, Medford.

Phillip Arthur Cooper
The memorial service for Phillip Arthur Cooper will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God. The Rev. Leo Schmelzer will officiate.
Mr. Cooper, 50, of Medford, died Monday (April 24, 2000) at his home.

He was born March 3, 1950, in Oxnard, Calif. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Oxnard in 1961.
Mr. Cooper worked in local sawmills, logging in the woods and long-haul truck driving.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and 1955 Chevrolets and Corvettes.
Survivors include a son, Eric, Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Kristi Ashbrook, Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother, Christine LeBeau, Grass Valley, Calif.; his stepmother, Florence Mahar, Medford; a brother, Steven Cooper, Kirkland, Wash.; a stepbrother, Michael Sullivan, in Oregon; and a stepsister, Cindy Dunlap, in Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Cooper.

Florence E. Kinney
The memorial service for Florence Elizabeth Kinney will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Anderson of the Central Point Assembly of God will officiate.
Mrs. Kinney, 76, of Central Point, died Tuesday (April 25, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born May 19, 1923, in Lebanon, a daughter of Earl and Gladys (MacIntosh) Forster. Raised in Coos Bay, she was a longtime Rogue Valley resident.
On Aug. 30, 1941, in Coos Bay, she married Herbert Ralph Kinney, who died in 1961.
Mrs. Kinney was a homemaker.
She was a Christian, and enjoyed her family, camping at McKee Bridge and the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include two sons, Marc, Central Point, and Douglas, Port Orford; two daughters, Judy Kinney, Talent, and Peggy Kinney, Medford; a sister, Gertrude Morris, Arcata, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kim; and two brothers, Edward and Alan Forster.

John T. Rutherford
The memorial service for John Thomas Rutherford will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate.
Mr. Rutherford, 72, of Gold Hill, died Wednesday (April 26, 2000) at his home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Selma, Calif., a son of Warren and Mary (Wilson) Rutherford.
In 1946, in Laton, Calif., he married Bette Davis, who survives.
Mr. Rutherford was a manager for Filtrol Chemicals in California, retiring in 1989. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Los Angeles in 1990.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Mr. Rutherford was a member of the Chemical Union in California.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and woodworking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Michael, Rogue River, and David, McKinleyville, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Hoel, Butte Falls; five brothers; and seven grandchildren. A brother, Edgar, preceded him in death.

Jim Brinson
A celebration of the life of James Howard Brinson Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. View Valley Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd., S.W., Tacoma, Wash.
Mr. Brinson, 52, of Lakewood, Wash., formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (April 25, 2000) at his home.

He was born June 27, 1947, in Medford, a son of James Howard and Patricia (Catey) Brinson.
Mr. Brinson was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, Lakewood, Wash.; a daughter, Kelli Brinson, Lakewood, Wash.; his mother, Patricia, Lakewood, Wash.; and his father, James, Oroville, Calif.
