Alma Loretta Babb

The memorial service for Alma Loretta Babb will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Harvest Baptist Temple, Medford. The Rev. Michael Gass will officiate.

Mrs. Babb, 59, of White City, died Thursday (Oct. 12, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 9320 S.W. Barbur Blvd., Suite No. 140, Portland, OR 97219.

She was born Alma Loretta Holman on Oct. 23, 1940, in Houston, Texas. In 1975 in Eagle Point, she married Ronald Babb, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley in the early 1970s from Hayward, Calif.

Mrs. Babb worked as a dryer feeder for Boise Cascade, and a packer for Bear Creek Corporation for 17 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include; four sons; one daughter; four step-daughters; three brothers; and 15 grandchildren.

Marguerite Alice Wilds

The memorial service for Marguerite Alice Wilds will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ashland.

Mrs. Wilds, 84, of Talent, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000) at Linda Vista Care Center in Ashland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Oregon Chapter, 1650 NW Naito Parkway, Suite No. 190, Portland OR 97209.

She was born on Feb. 7, 1921, in Deer Creek, Okla., a daughter of Clarence and Vesta Comer. On Nov. 15, 1954, in Weed, Calif., she married Horace Wilds, who survives.

Mrs. Wilds worked as a waitress at the Star Inn, and as a cook in the school cafeteria in Dorris.

She was a member of the Dorris Grange, CWA, and the LDS Church.

Mrs. Wilds enjoyed sewing, quilting, arts and crafts, and making stuffed toys for disabled children.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Peggy Callaghan, Ashland, Carole Ponce, Talent, and Dianna Grey, Anderson, Calif.; two brothers, Dale Comer, Chico, Calif., and Bill Comer, Redding, Calif.; a sister, Rita Squiers, St. Joseph, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a son.

Arrangements: Litwiller- Simonsen Funeral Crematory & Funeral Home.

Benjamin F. Greaser

Benjamin "Ben" F. Greaser, 84, of Albany (formerly of Medford) died Sunday (Oct. 15, 2000) in Albany. Private family services and interment will be held at a later date in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Central Point.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1915, in Pomona Calif. On May 21, 1936, in Medford, he married Nellie Eicher, who preceded him in death, March 21, 1999.

Mr. Greaser worked in the home appliance repair business until his retirement at the age of 64. After his retirement, he and two partners owned and operated their own appliance repair business in Medford.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, duck hunting and building things.

Survivors include a daughter, Sallie Riehl, Albany; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rene Marshall

The memorial service for Rene Marshall will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at Rogue Valley Fellowship, Medford.

Mrs. Marshall, 39, of Medford, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Fellowship, 2373 S. Pacific Highway, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1960, in Medford, a daughter of Wayne and Donna Hunter of Medford. On May 12, 1984, in Medford she married David Marshall, who survives. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.

Mrs. Marshall was a 1979 graduate of Medford High School.

She was a member of the Rogue Valley Fellowship Church.

Mrs. Marshall enjoyed swimming, snow skiing, shopping and movies.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her parents, Wayne and Donna Hunter, Medford; a son, Michael, and a daughter, Melissa, both of Medford; and two brothers, Randy Hunter and Rich Hunter, both of Medford.

Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Perl Funeral Home.

Jessie Valentine Carleton

The funeral for Jessie Valentine Carleton will be at 1 p.m. Friday, at Hillcrest Chapel in Medford. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Carleton, 99, of Pueblo, Colo., formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Oct. 14, 2000) in Pueblo, Colo.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1901, in Norton, Kansas. He lived in Kansas City, Mo., and Wiggins, Colo. He married Lola Curtis and moved to Medford.

He worked in the fruit orchards in Medford.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Hire, Grandview, Mo., Ethel Herbert, Raymore, Mo., and Nancy Orr, Kansas City, Mo.; five sons, James, Ernest, Charles and Robert, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Raymond, Laurie, Mo.; four stepchildren, Ester Steele, Buckley, Wash.; Francis Leroy Curtis, Payallup, Wash.; Ivan Curtis, Medford; and Fredia Evers, Texas; 30 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola, a son Delbert, and a daughter, Eleanor Browning.

Carolina Margareta Mills

The memorial service for Carolina Margareta Mills will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Applegate Christian Fellowship.

Mrs. Mills, 71, of Jacksonville, died Sunday (Oct. 15, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Carolina Munk on Jan. 12, 1929, in Artesia, Calif. On July 7, 1947, in Reno, she married Wayne Mills, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley 22 years ago from Bellflower, Calif.

Mrs. Mills was a homemaker. She enjoyed oil painting and water colors,

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Janet Hoffmier, Medford, and Marian Carol Mills, Weott, Calif.; a brother, Jim Munk of California; two sisters, Karen Vanderhoick, Artesia, Calif., and Jensina Munk, Bellflower, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Lily Helen Laurence

Lily Helen Laurence, 94, of Medford, died Tuesday, (Oct. 17, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born on March 21, 1906, in Canada, a daughter of Charles and Martha (Jahn) Banks. She moved to the Rogue Valley a year ago from Reno. In 1932 she married James Gaines, who died in 1933. In 1939, she married Jackson Charles Laurence who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Laurence was employed as a physician’s assistant.

She enjoyed San Francisco, following the business world, and Reno.

Survivors include a niece and nephews.

Marion S. Felter

Marion S. Felter, 84, of Medford, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000) at the Northridge Center in Medford. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Northridge Center, 3737 S. Pacific Highway, Medford, OR 97501.

Mr. Felter was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Colesburg, Iowa, a son of Oliver J. and Josephine Floy Robinson Felter. On May 22, 1938, in Hawkeye, Iowa, he married Hallie J. Knox Felter, who preceded him in death in 1998. He moved to Ashland in 1944, and in 1995 moved to Northridge Center in Medford.

He obtained an accounting degree from Upper Iowa University and a law degree from LaSalle University.

Mr. Felter worked as a conductor on the Southern Pacific Railroad and retired in 1998.

He was a member of the Ashland Lions Club, Ashland United Methodist Church and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Reserve unit.

Mr. Felter enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include two daughters, Anita M. Felter, Portland and Karen E. Jewett, Eugene; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
