Lucille C. Arnold
The funeral for Lucille C. Arnold, 87, of Medford, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Mrs. Arnold, a daughter of Applegate Valley pioneers, died Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) at her Medford home.
She was born Lucille Corrine DeWolfe on June 11, 1913, in Tacoma, Wash.
She lived in the Rogue Valley since she was 19 years old. Her family originally settled in the Applegate Valley before 1860.
On April 12, 1933, in Jacksonville, she married Melvin L. Arnold, who died in 1995.
Mrs. Arnold was a devoted Christian who enjoyed reading the Bible, cooking, flower gardening, and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Central Point Christian Fellowship Church.
Survivors include: a son, Vernon, of Medford; daughters Lorraine Moore, Gold Beach, Joyce Courtright, Central Point, and Janet Arnold, Medford; brothers Charles and Irvin DeWolfe, both of Medford; seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One great-grandson and six brothers and sisters have preceded her in death.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Conger-Morris Funeral Home, Medford.
Ruth S. Haviland
The funeral for Ruth Sullivan Haviland, 85, of Medford, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford.
Mrs. Haviland died Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) at home.

She was born Dec. 4, 1914, in Portland to Florance and Othelia Sullivan.
She graduated from Holy Child Academy, Portland, in 1932. She graduated cum laude from Marylhurst College, Portland, in 1936. She had been student body president.
She worked as a secretary in Portland until she married.
On July 23, 1938, in Portland, she married Paul W. Haviland.
The couple lived in Chicago, Baltimore and Wilmington, Del., before returning to Oregon. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1947.
Mrs. Haviland was a president of St. Ann’s Alter Society of Sacred Heart Parish. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and was an active supporter of St. Mary’s High School, Sacred Heart School, and Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Medford, and Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Brookings, and the Rogue Valley Country Club.
Survivors in addition to her husband include: a daughter, Anne Ruona, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; sisters Loretta Meyer, Seattle, and Joanne Sullivan, Spokane; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A brother, Ronald Sullivan, and sisters Helen Kenny and Sister Judith Mary preceded her in death.

Joseph G. Rhinehart
The funeral for Joseph G. Rhinehart, 73, of Medford, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Rhinehart died Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Mr. Rhinehart was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Marion, Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
On June, 3, 1948, in Marion, Iowa, he married Rosalyn R. Floyd.
The couple moved to the Rogue Valley in 1964.
Mr. Rhinehart worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Wilson Meat Packing Co., and he owned and operated a Shell gas station in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He also worked as an automobile mechanic for Sears in Medford.
He enjoyed fishing at Robber’s Roost and the Old Bridge Hole on the Rogue River, and bowling and hunting.
He was a member of the Catholic Church, was a third and fourth degree honor guard in the Knights of Columbus, and was a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In Cedar Rapids, he was a member of the local Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Larry, Green Valley, Ariz., and Gary, Shady Cove; brothers Frank, Las Vegas, and Harold, Napa, Calif; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Perl Funeral Home.
Ruby E. Bennett
The memorial service for Ruby E. Bennett will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eagle Point. Private inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Bennett, 89, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Oct. 10, 2000) at her home.
She was born Ruby Elvera Nelson on Nov. 21, 1910, near Mist. She moved to the Rogue Valley 60 years ago from Astoria. In September 1958, in Reno, Nev., she married John F. Bennett, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Bennett was a chef for many Rogue Valley restaurants. She was also a volunteer at the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary in White City.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eagle Point, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Eagle Point Grange.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Hamilton, White City, and Ruth Daily, Roseburg; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Ruth; and two grandchildren.

Hazle D. Johnston
The memorial service for Hazle D. Johnston will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Perl Funeral Home, Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Johnston, 87, died Saturday (Oct. 14, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Hazle D. Cramer on Sept. 18, 1913 in Chester, Neb. She lived in the Rogue Valley since 1951, moving from Portland.
On May 16, 1936, in Washington, Kan., she married William Johnston, who died in 1993.
Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker and also worked part time for Associated Fruits in Phoenix, and repairing books for Medford schools.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing pinochle.
Survivors include a son, Lynn Johnston, Central Point; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Dorthy E. G. Morrison
The memorial service for Dorthy Ethil Gail Morrison will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Eastwood Baptist Church, Medford. The Rev. George Nye will officiate.
Mrs. Morrison, 77, of Medford, died Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) in Medford.
She was born Dorthy Ethil Gail Richmond on Nov. 3, 1922, in Carl Junction, Colo.
On Jan. 31, 1944, in Joplin, Mo., she married Samuel W. Morrison, who survives.
Mrs. Morrison lived in the Rogue Valley for seven years, moving from Chiloquin. Prior to moving to Chiloquin, she was a longtime resident of San Pablo, Calif.
She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Medford. She enjoyed collecting and repairing dolls, gardening, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Dorthy Gail Rasmussen, Placerville, Calif., Patricia Williams, Medford, and Diana Sue Bickford, Livingston, Mont.; three sons, Samuel W. Morrison Jr., Oak Harbor, Wash., Jerry Robert Morrison, Eagle Point, and Gary Lee Morrison, Sacramento, Calif.; four brothers, Harold Richmond, El Sobrante, Calif., James Richmond, Pinole, Calif., Jay Richmond, Los Banos, Calif., and Ralph Richmond, Gold Beach; two sisters, Gladys Kilduff, Battle Ground, Wash., and Catherine Schwartz, Escalon, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Michael Otis Hussey
The committal service for Michael Otis Hussey will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Bob Mathers of the Alliance Bible Chapel of Ashland will officiate.
Mr. Hussey, 50, of White City, died Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) at his home.

He was born Aug. 21, 1950, in Grants Pass, a son of Otis and Carmelita Hussey. On June 18, 1971, in Reno, he married Dana L. Hansen, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.
Mr. Hussey owned and operated Mike Hussey Trucking.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hussey was a member of the Alliance Bible Church in Ashland, and sponsored MDA charitable softball tournaments as Lil’ Mikey Productions.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and softball.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and parents, include two sons, Mike, Eagle Point and Andy, White City; a brother, Steve, Medford; a sister, Kathy Rouse, Medford; and a grandchild.
